Anyone know how if I wanted to create a local repository on my mac how I can go about doing this? Is there a way to run a local server to organize my code locally.
Would this be a good solution path to keep client projects up to date, say i was using an open source code like less, for a clients project, and i wanted to keep a version control locally of client code i write, but allow the updated public repositories to update the clients code.
There are some software (say like Pinta; a painting App) available in Git repositories; is it possible to use GitHub as an open source download mechanism? I use the Mac AppStore extensively and trying to avoid normal downloads from the internet!

@benghaith Of course! Just by cloning the source, but generally, this takes much more bandwidth then actually downloading the compiled binary.
