I recommend that you avoid Los Angeles at all costs... everything is overpriced, high crime rates, overpopulation, obnoxious/antisocial people, poor transport systems, traffic is hell... Why does everybody insist that this is such a great place for learning? This video proves that living on campus is one big diversion from learning. The only thing you'll learn is how to become a bigger party animal.

UCLA brings back a lot of great memories. Westwood is a safe, clean, and fun town, and you don't need a car to get around. Your only a few miles from Beverly Hills, the Sunset Strip, and Malibu. The education is great and it's a nice, diverse student body. It is a pain to have to drive out to the Rose Bowl for game days, but for the prestige, education, and good times, you can't beat it. Go Bruins.

OHHH HECK NO!!!!! I could not stay in a room that small with 3 other people. I would go crazy. Thank God I have personal space at my school. We each have our own rooms and a living room and kitchen in the middle. We don't even have dorms like this at my school. And all of our on campus housing are apartment style and not dorm style. THANK GOD. But UCLA is a great school, I just absolutely could not live like that.

@949 Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. We've been swamped with prepping for commencement. Transfer students can absolutely live on campus. The highest concentrations of transfer students tend to be in Rieber Terrace, Rieber Vista, Sunset Village, and University Apartments. @FlameFury117 Depends bro. Guessing you are fresh out of high school? You will need at least a 1700 in the SAT and not really sure about the ACT. A 3.4 is the lowest that they will look at. You will also need the 2 essays and lots of extra-curricular activities.

I hated attending UCLA, the professors care more about their research then they do with the students. One professor actually read a newspaper while the students did their work. Too much racial problems, too many assaults (The police hide this fact!) Too many fights, and too many protests against tuition hikes which caused a riot on campus. I went to UCSD to avoid the drama at UCLA and I have been happy ever since, and I'm going to UC Berkley next semester!

Fees ain't a problem....just getting accepted might be my downfall since the entry requirements are quite demanding. 92% of UCLA students have a high school GPA of 3.75+ which is pretty damn astounding!

My unweighted GPA was 3.92 and weighted was 4.77. My UC GPA was 4.67. My SAT I Reasoning was 2160.

Judging by the people from our school that got into UCLA this year, you have to have a minimum GPA of 4.6 and an SAT I score of 2000+ . Many of the students who were admitted were leaders/had leadership positions. Like, I'm the news editor for our school. One other guy is the Senior Class President, and another the Senior Class Treasurer.

However, I would say debate team and soccer team is great, but honestly, volunteer is not a big factor in the admission process. The two biggest factors are GPA + SAT

To be honest, UCLA dorms are rather cramped, but I had such an amazing experience.

LOL, I graduated from UCLA and didn't even like the school. I have zero bruin pride.

However, USC isn't any better. I visited the campus for the first time back in 2001. It was a weekday evening and all the students were crowded outside the dorms like a bunch of ghetto high school students during lunch break. And this was at 7PM. At least UCLA students didn't gather around in 100-person crowds for no reason.

UCLA is shit, but USC is even shittier. HTH
