  • That´s AWESOME!

  • you are an inspiration

  • U ARE NICE BRO.... IAM BUYING ONE MY SELF ,DONT KNOW SITZ ABOUT PLAYING SO I MUST TAKE LESSONS I WONT TO ROCK BRO.... IAM SUBING TO YA CHANNEL.. KEEP ROCKIN

  • Is that an SG standard ?

  • @GlobStaBlon It's an Ibanez.

  • holy fuck.....

  • how do you make it sound with echo ?

  • just perfect

  • @minpinful Cuz they were uploaded 5+ years ago... and probably recorded way before that even. lol

  • @Ibanez2570P This video is pretty old, my newer stuff has better video quality.

  • Kickass solo and mint-ex guitar u should upload a vid on how to play it

  • you have tens of thousands of dollars in grea from gibson sg's to vintage strats, to tube marshall stacks prob plexis worth 3-4 grand each yet you couldnt spend an extra 50-100 bucks to buy a better webcam haha nica playing man you kind of look like EVH too haha

  • nice sound but your camera sucks

  • very nice van halen sound

  • 20 people are listening to Justin Bieber

  • what do yuse to record the video

    with that good sound

  • Kick ass tone what model/settings? any pedals??

  • Need a tad more reverb..

  • wtf he's jack black!!!

  • nice face!! :P

  • JACK BLACK!!!

  • that tone... shit its amazing

  • i love you, man!

  • Riffguy, just out of curiosity, what exactly do you do when you modify your pickups to make them hot or "Riffbuckers" as they're affectionately referred to?

  • @99centstore Sometimes if a pickup is a bit too hot & muddy for a particular guitar, I'll remove several thousand windings to brighten it up. I also change the magnets to a different type depending on the type of sound I'm looking for. The Riffbuckers are actually brand new, hand wound pickups that I build, not just modified pickups. I currently have several models available that range anywhere from a vintage PAF style to a super hot ceramic humbucker.

  • wtf? you sound and look like Ingwe Malmstein not sure if thats how you spell it but fuck you know who im talking about.....

  • '61 SG?? SICK

  • nice

  • alot of Eddie Van Halen stuff on an Angus Young style guitar.

  • those pickups are 50x hotter than megan fox!

  • I love u dude

  • i should get a riffbucker from you.. and stuff in my dean V.. be interesting to hear .. wonder how much that would cost ??? i play WAY to much lately. Waits for his wife to leave him for good.. .. still waiting :D

  • @ntsms69 if you hate this guys playing why do you have a video of yourself cyber jamming with this guy?

  • siprelude89 I said this was boring, I DO NOT HATE this guy, you should read my comments again!

Also, I find your comment relating to me cyber jamming with him interesting!!!!!!

    Are you on medication!!!! :-)

  • @ntsms69 I just find it odd that you would critique this guys playing and then post a video of yourself playing with him. I didn't say you hated this guy, i said you hated his playing.

w/e, not really worth arguing about.

  • amazing!! thanks for posting

  • however it sonds good to me!

  • these are REALLY hot pick ups!

  • They're pretty weak actually.

  • @riffguy, they sound pretty weak -- very dynamic. Tone reminds me of EVH on Van Halen self-titled album and what he was using back then was an overwound humbucker but nothing too terribly hot... great tone as always

  • @riffguy Hey RiffGuy Don't You Just Love The Smell Of That Mahogany?!?!

  • he kind of reminds me of an edward van halen mied with a tiny bit of jack black

  • My SG is from 1985, it's sat in a case for about 20 years. It's in need of some serious refurbishment . Poor little guy. I feel horrible picking him up now, especially since I can't play as good as I used to be able to. Keep it old school dude. Love it!

  • how many time u have playing guitar?

  • The SG body style came out in 1961 and was released as the new Les Paul model.....so, I would say it qualifies as being old school.

  • does this one has the vibrato???

  • yea i see the resmblance to lynches playing here. lovin it

  • sick

  • who cares wat he looks like

    hes fucking nuts guitarist

  • He looks like Jack Black, plays like Malmsteen...like Malmsteen, he can shred and also play some mean blues scales..and his vibrato is very good and controlled, although I prefer Malmsteen's..

  • old school in the style of the 80ies i guess

what can i say? nice as always

  • ah thats not old school at all. old school would be the good old blues

  • he looks a bit like jimmy page

  • that's what i call warm up the fingers xDD cool

  • excellent playing, but that`s not old school

  • you sopunds like George Lynch in this vid! loving the playinjg bro!

  • that reminded me of angus young wow awesome

  • Such a dinosaur but it sounds as great as it looks, or better and it looks like you got it yesterday. I respect that you take good care of such a work of art. Play it hard man, play it hard =)

  • how can i do that????

  • hahaha

  • that tapping lick around 1:20 is seriously one of the coolest things i have ever heard!

  • if you like tap stuff check out michael romeo

  • this is my fav of yours

  • YEAHHHH!!!!!

  • daaaayuuuuum.that was some serious shredding.

  • man that sounds tasty

  • I liked the tapping part near 1:20, really sounded awesome

  • I own a 63' SG, got it when I was 12yrs old from a neighborhood junkie for $400! They are the jaguar of guitars. Great action and a wide open neck, built for speed.

Frank Marino, another great Canadian guitarist plays only these.

  • Your fingers were so fast they blurred into a sausage looking stump. Maybe it was just my old eys...uh...and the fact that I'm hungry for sausages...lol...rippin riffs dude!

  • go canada! lol thank you for inspiring me to keep up playing.

  • man...you fuck all !You are god man !!!!I love Malmsteen,Van Halen and Old School....you mix all !Keep on !

  • Very nasty and kewl...CHEERS!

  • so what do you like better, the SG or the Les Paul?

  • SG's are more comfortable for me to play.

  • Beautiful!

Most of all, near perfect picking technique! All from the wrist!!

  • I like how u sound like Van Halen one minute,then Malmsteen,Then Lynch,then

Gary Moore,u have quite the Mix,All Good!!!!

  • wow, nice picking man, how long have you played for

  • i think aside from angus young ur my new favorite guitar player

    u kick ass

  • Wow.

  • that was pretty cool

  • why dosnt this have 3 billion views, not a video a black dude singing about flavored raining

  • hahaha your Right.

  • @Slayer2248 dont talk like that to tay zonday

  • well back to praticing.

  • Jaw Dropping Stuff What An Inspiration Sweet SG. You Should Be Making Millions With Those Skills. Come To The UK And Teach Me LOL. Keep Rockin Man Totally Awsome Stuff. * * * * *

  • i enjoyed that. The tone was xcellent

  • dude i think i'll quit playing guitar after seeing this

  • WOW! Man you blew away a lot of people who post their guitar playing on Youtube. You've been blessed with some kick ass guitar talent.

  • paul, you are one amazing guitar player. and i'm not just saying the shredding, i mean the phrasing, the vibrato, the sweeps, the progressions, the groove, the feeling you put into everything you do. i hope you can imagine how inspiring all this is to me and to many others like me. i would like to ask you some advice on what to give most attention to when it comes to practicing, to hopefully reach one day something close to your level.

keep rocking, i truly admire you.

    pablo

  • Wow...thanks. I have never been "structured" when I practice, I just play what comes to mind or jam along with a CD. It's good spend time working on picking & sweeping exercises, but it's more important to figure out how to apply this stuff to your playing style. I truly believe tablature should be used as a guide only when needed, and the guitarist should get used to really hearing the music and developing a feel.

  • I listen to a wide variety of music although I don't play those styles, it inspires me to think outside the box a bit and apply a slightly different approach to phrasing than if I only listened to one style. I think the bottom line is, sometimes we just need to turn our brains off, close our eyes and feel the music.

  • yes, i think that having such an easy access to tablatures on the web doesn't let you develop your hearing ability properly which, as you said, has to be one of the most important tools for a guitarist or musicin in general.

thank you so much, i really appreciate it.

    take care and rock on!

    off to practice

  • You sir are a raging douchebag, keep your vagina in your pants i say!

  • ..........junhackers, why do you keep posting negative comments on Riffguys vids? If you`ve nothing better to do then f**k off and listen to the smack head Frusciante!!

  • no he is not. you can tell and besides jack black isn't this good at guitar.

  • he only looks like jack black

  • Simply the best. Better than EVH and Joe Satriani combined!

  • This is the single greatest solo on the planet! Shred On Riffguy!

  • yes ibanez did and still make SGs. I have a 71' lawsuit model (Gibson moustache headstock and pattern, lack of serial number on the back plate)ith 3 humbuckers n a horseshoe bigsby

  • how long have u been playin man, ur better than most famous guitarists that are in successful bands

  • It's an Ibanez, not a Gibson.

  • joxkiller that's an incredible deal.. those are worth like $5000.00 mint condit. just for the guitar.

  • that's so fuckin' cool!

    rooock'n roll!!!!

  • como toca este hdp!

  • do you have some skill to sell ? lol really great

I think that ur the best on youtube.

    Riffguy Rocks

  • please tell me that you live from music.

    Economically too ;)

  • There was one of these going for $750 here in perth.

  • doesnt sound exactly like an sg, awesom playin dude

  • dang you look like jack black that looks a lot like an sg guitar but i recognize it is a lawsuit

  • Man!! Kickass Raw playing!! DAMN!! I MISS THE 80'S. Always keep posting your awesome talent Riffguy!! Your THE BEST on youtube!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is the acually name of these guitars besides ibanez lawsuit?

  • just ibanez SG.

  • Looks like an original issue Gibson SG to me (ie Angus Young...)

  • lol.

    no.

ask riffguy, its an ibanez lawsuit.

  • Either way, it's a nice sounding axe!

  • ibanez sg

  • man, fühlt der sich toll !!!! God, what a Shit Typ !!!!

  • Man, how small must u feel compared to him. Got no selfesteem? What a great guy he is and what a strange flaming troll u are...

  • They sure don't make them like they used to. I've seen quite a bit of amps during my days, and I haven't heard this sound in a long time. Great Playing! Excellent work!

  • I have been watching all you video clips and reading the comments. I think it if great that you are willing to take this time out of your day to answer all those questions. High Five to you. I wish I could play the guitar but at 51 years old I am not sure I would be able to. So I will listen to you play!

  • Master i have a problem !

I`ve got a marshall jcm900 mkII series 100w head.. the thing is that when i take my hands away from the pickups and the fretboard the amp starts to make a kinda windy and strange sound.. is this normal ?

By the way your playing is devastating ! The sound of that stack could destroy the entire U.S.A itself!

  • rifgguy, that is one hell of a sweet lawsuit.

  • the tone reminds me of VH

  • is that a real gibson ?

  • This guitar is actually an Ibanez from the early 70's when they made really good copies. They have become known as "Lawsuit" guitars because Gibson was going to take them to court.

  • i'm thinking of buying one of these.. 400 euro's (lets say 500 USD) mint condition, new frets and bridge, including case.. would this be a good deal? (i have no idea what these are worth)

  • I haven't really seen any of these on the market so I don't know what they are worth either. Just remember that it's still just a copy. I bought mine for $125.00 back in 1985.

  • Dude,That Ibanez wrecks!Oh and so do you!I wish we could jam!

  • incredible playing!

what effects are you using to get that tone? or is it just the guitar?

  • It's pretty much just the guitar & amp with a bit reverb & delay to give it some presence.

  • C'mon riff guy...exactly what amp and settinsg are you using....sounds like you are using a BOSS effects or a marshall with effects...

  • It's a very simple setup....modified Marshall....everything at 10 except the volume. For this video, I had a Digitech GSP-21 processor run through the effects loop for delay & reverb.

  • Gotcha! Sounds great and the delay and reverb give it a nice surreal sound. I saw your other clips and it appears yo have quite the inventory of Marshall Amp stacks and guitars at your disposal. Ahhhhh, looks like you are living the dream my man....living the dream...

    VONDUTCH-SOCAL

  • Keep shredin' that guitar bro!

  • dude youre my hero! first time i see someone rocking like you

  • you should tab this on Powertabs

  • Hi Riffguy!

Love your videos. I have a question for you. I recently purchased an Ibanez SG Lawsuit. It has a stop tail. The bridge is missing some parts. Any idea where I can get a replacement bridge for it? Tried several places no luck. Thanks

  • God damn! How do you get the screaming hi harmonics?

  • Jack Black? Is that you?

    xD

  • riffguy, is that a real Ibanez "Lawsuit" guitar?

  • Yes it is, and it has the original pickups that have "zebra" coils like some of the early Gibson PAF's.

  • that was something! old school shredding is always awesome, especially when you're playin'.

  • Badass man. I love that serious metal sound... I want to come over and drink some beers with ya while you shred a few times. That would friggin make my day for sure.

  • hey man you play really well...keep on rocking!

  • holy shit

  • nice work.you have chops and feel.Eddie is coming back this summer

  • geeze, this is all improv isn't it?

    Pretty freaking mind-blowing.

  • ahah you're hilarious!

  • yeaaaaaa woooooooooo

  • 5 fucking stars my man. Your playing is very how should I put it.. suavest.

  • well lets all agree that malmsteem sucks after seeing this video hahaha

  • You BLOW ME AWAY! I can't even believe it! I've seen A LOT of shreders on here, and have never been impressed or moved by fast playing. The way you do it is so much different. I can't even figure out HOW or WHY you can pull it off so well, but, I hear complex musical vocabulary that is way beyond my level of knowledge, and it sounds oh so very nice. God damn you can play. Love your clean speed, but most of all, LOVE your choice of notes etc ... wow man, hats off!

  • are you using a pick, this speed is amazing!! or are you fingerpicking as well a pick,

  • jack black

  • Jack 'Butler' will cut your head...G string sounds great man on that old SG

  • people with long pinky fingers can and will shred the best

  • are you using 10's?

  • yes, 10 to 46

  • smart! i like it...your chord playing horrible everything else wonderful. smart scales.

  • Love the riff man, Rock on!
