James Taylor was one of the weak kneed self obsessed wimps who destroyed rock with his navel gazing approach to pop music. This album is just another example of souless yuppiedom tearing the guts out of great songs for mass consumption by over the hill boomers who hated it when it came out by the original artists and now use it to safely recall the wild times they never had.
JT was, is and will always be a big boor. Nice guitar player though.
I completely agree with the idea of recording "live".
If you can't do it live, then you've no business recording it in the first place.
Today you have bands messing around in studios trying to make a producer make them sound like they can play.
Play first! Gig! Tour! THEN record! Take example from James Taylor, among others.
It still amazes me when people say that artists are good live. THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE! IT'S THEIR FUCKING JOB! But it takes time and practice.
