One Christmas he gave me a VERY realistic UNCLE service handgun, (actually a Walther P-38 with a cut barrel and a flash suppressor added). It had the bipod, the barrel extension and the silencer, fired caps. The thing looked real, unlike the PC (and rare) toy guns of today. I haven't seen any reruns anywhere in decades.

I loved David when I was little. I grew up playing Man from UNCLE and had all sorts of spy stuff. I was going to marry him...unfortunately this didn't happen but once again I am lucky to watch him on TV (NCIS). Great video!

oh ducky. seeing him on NCIS made me just buy the UNCLE series on dvd. One of my favorite episodes was with Nancy Sinatra. He also did a few Outer Limits episodes that I remember from when I was very VERY young.
I can't help but be struck by how much Alexander Skarsgard resembles him as well. I know there's no relation, but the hair, the eyes, the mannerisms - he reminded me a LOT of him.

Illya Kuryakin (Along with Star Trek's Scotty) is my all-time favorite tv character, and the fact that David is nearing 80 years of age and still cranking out good work is a credit to his skills. Open Channel "D" !

I had a huge crush on Illya Kuryakin and Napolean Solo when I was ten years old. By age 11 it was Illya who I was most infatuated with. My Aunt was 21 and crazy about them both. And My Uncle was fifteen and bleached and cut his hair like Illya's & wore dark shades. I have pen pals in England that said they were crazy about The Man From Uncle then and now. Man I enjoyed that video! I have seen only Mr. McCallum on NCIS, but my parents get me laughing when they tell me about Illian Kuriakan ( pardon the spelling of his name). When they show the episode on NCIS where Kate asks what Ducky looks like I gotta laugh. He is the reason my parents got started watching NCIS.
Its quite funny, I grew up watching him on the UNCLE reruns in the 90's and fell in love with him. When NCIS came along I was thrilled that I could see him onscreen again (albeit older), he's still a fantastic actor and great to watch. Glad you like the video! :)
You aren't very familiar with McCallum are you? During MFU, his hair got longer every season. In the 70's, his hair was really long, and it was his hair.

I just signed up for Netflix and the first thing I did was put the MFU dvds in my queue. I can't wait to completely waste my time (except we all know it will be a valuable use of time) watching hours upon hours of Illya!
oh my, the memories. I was ten when the TV show first aired and spent much of the next few years wearing turtlenecks, a trench coat and spending my allowance on MFU paperback books (which I still have). I had such a crush on Illya.
I missed all the merchandising (much to my dismay - I would kill for an UNCLE special replica!), but I'm glad I managed to catch the show on TV in the 90's courtesy of the Beeb. Illya is certainly something to look at, isn't he? :-)
I had only my allowance to spend (1 dollar a week for a 10 y/o was pretty good in 1965) so I skipped just about everything but the books. Those I could read over and over again. Then I drew my own comics and wrote my own adventures. You really put together a great set of clips, Bravo!
Nice touch with the little clip from NCIS at the beginning. When I saw that episode a few years ago I had to laugh out loud, and then I wondered how many viewers had that comment go right over their heads because they couldn't relate to it because Man From UNCLE has been off the air for a very long time. No problem, I'm glad you liked the video. I almost choked when I first heard that comment in the NCIS episode, so I really couldn't leave it out when I decided to make this Illyavid. David McCallum will always be Illya to me, but he is a very talented actor who has done a lot of good stuff over the years.
At the time David was called the "Blonde Beatle" because of his hairstyle and was also mobbed by women like The Beatles everywhere he went. Before he became famous, his best friend was Charles Bronson. He asked Bronson to care for his sick wife around 1963 or 64. She was the actress Jill Ireland. They had an affair and she left David. Bronson never apologised to him. Jill appeared on one of the UNCLE episodes. I guess the joke was on her, because he was free to date a lot of women.

I grew up watching The Man from Uncle as a teenager, Illaya and Nepoleon never killed anyone, thier guns were filled with sleep bullets(darts?) but the sure got the job done. So Much Fun watching them again! Thank you Serenaar!!

I had a huge crush on Illya Kuryakin and Napolean Solo when I was ten years old. By age 11 it was Illya who I was most infatuated with. My Aunt was 21 and crazy about them both. And My Uncle was fifteen and bleached and cut his hair like Illya's & wore dark shades. I have pen pals in England that said they were crazy about The Man From Uncle then and now. I have watched this video over and over and now love the song as well. Thanks for a wonderful video!

He is even more angelic and sexy than I remember! Man I enjoyed that video! I have seen only Mr. McCallum on NCIS, but my parents get me laughing when they tell me about Illian Kuriakan ( pardon the spelling of his name). When they show the episode on NCIS where Kate asks what Ducky looks like I gotta laugh. He is the reason my parents got started watching NCIS.

Its quite funny, I grew up watching him on the UNCLE reruns in the 90's and fell in love with him. When NCIS came along I was thrilled that I could see him onscreen again (albeit older), he's still a fantastic actor and great to watch. Glad you like the video! :)

You aren't very familiar with McCallum are you? During MFU, his hair got longer every season. In the 70's, his hair was really long, and it was his hair.

I just signed up for Netflix and the first thing I did was put the MFU dvds in my queue. I can't wait to completely waste my time (except we all know it will be a valuable use of time) watching hours upon hours of Illya!

oh my, the memories. I was ten when the TV show first aired and spent much of the next few years wearing turtlenecks, a trench coat and spending my allowance on MFU paperback books (which I still have). I had such a crush on Illya.

I missed all the merchandising (much to my dismay - I would kill for an UNCLE special replica!), but I'm glad I managed to catch the show on TV in the 90's courtesy of the Beeb. Illya is certainly something to look at, isn't he? :-)

I had only my allowance to spend (1 dollar a week for a 10 y/o was pretty good in 1965) so I skipped just about everything but the books. Those I could read over and over again. Then I drew my own comics and wrote my own adventures. You really put together a great set of clips, Bravo!

Nice touch with the little clip from NCIS at the beginning. When I saw that episode a few years ago I had to laugh out loud, and then I wondered how many viewers had that comment go right over their heads because they couldn't relate to it because Man From UNCLE has been off the air for a very long time. David is a very loveable soul in every role I've ever seen him...especially as "Ducky". Very nice compilation...thank you very much for putting it together and sharing.

David McCallum will always be Illya to me, but he is a very talented actor who has done a lot of good stuff over the years.

At the time David was called the "Blonde Beatle" because of his hairstyle and was also mobbed by women like The Beatles everywhere he went. Before he became famous, his best friend was Charles Bronson. He asked Bronson to care for his sick wife around 1963 or 64. She was the actress Jill Ireland. They had an affair and she left David. Bronson never apologised to him. Jill appeared on one of the UNCLE episodes. I guess the joke was on her, because he was free to date a lot of women.
