This is not the Iraq I remember. I remember children throwing stones, adults throwing fire bombs, houses with no electricity, people with no food, no health care facilities, having to arrest or kill people holding mobile phones, sectarian violence, mob rule, tit for tat violence, mass institutionalised corruption, rapes, punishment beatings and shootings, religious zealots imposing Islamic law on people without lawful authority (something that didnt occur under Saddam), soldiers abusing civilian
@grimblebrumble17889 i honestly did not post that comment...someone might have hacked me. i am against the war and i wouldnt say we caused the civil war directly. us overthrowing saddam caused a civil war because the majority people wanted to get back at the minority people.
@libertarian93 Democracy at gunpoint is about as effective as dictatorship at gunpoint. Its arrogant, wasteful and will only cause you more problems in the long term.
@libertarian93 Partly? There was no civil war before we turned up. And we disbanded the Iraqi military and police forces. Thats over a million men with guns and no way of feeding their familys and a nice big foreign army with alot of collaborating shias to take it out on.
@grimblebrumble17889 yes partly...because we didnt its not our fault that they started killing people. that is their fault that they pulled the trigger. once again we are the ones that caused the enviroment for it, but i think we have made up for it since then. i still disagree with the war but we somewhat made up for our mistake by the end....that being said its not even close to enough to make up for what we caused.
"Only 18 percent of Iraqis have confidence in U.S. and coalition troops, and 86 percent are concerned that someone in their household will be a victim of violence.
Slightly more than half of Iraqis — 51 percent — now say that violence against U.S. forces is acceptable — up from 17 percent who felt that way in early 2004." MSNBC
500,000 dead. Cost is $3 Trillion. Dick's private contractors made a 47% profit margin.
Sick sick Conservative, trying to put icing on a dead body.
I think it's important that they felt that way at all. Think things are much better now? 100,000 more dead? 100,000 of those worried a loved one would die, were right.
They felt that way because some US soldiers and private security contractors committed some horrible crimes, which were focused on by the Arab media much more than they focused on crimes of the "mujahideen". Nevertheless most Iraqis understand that the violence is perpetuated mostly by Arab terrorists, aka the "resistance".
The huge cost, in dollars and lives, is terrible, and I am very sorry for it.
Americans should know that the US has been partially culpable in Iraqi deaths since 1980, and that Iraqis were dying needlessly as a result of US policies since 1980. The policy of "containment" was also a disaster, at least for ordinary Iraqis it was. Saddam shoulda been overthrown in 1991.
P. Contractors were under NO LAW for the first 5 years of the war. They could murder, go home for a few months, then just go back and do it again. President Bush was asked 2 years after invasion what he thought of that.
He made a joke of it and had NO IDEA (or lied and said he had no idea)!

God Bless Glen Beck. I wish more people would watch his show. He really reports good stuff. He has warned his listeners about iran for over a year and I would have never known about the little hitlers plan of starting the new halocaust on the jews. Iran has even built a shrine for the 12th imam. Its scary people
is it a black girl in 53rd second? what the hell is a black girl doing in iraqi school?!?! wow they are using mobile phones! wow, they must be happy, no problem if they are getting killed, just let them have mobile phones! oh great america, saviour of humanity
"in the eyes of the children" anytime ANYONE says that I start looking for the BS in their argument...Obviously, the same army that is helping vaccinate kids is also torturing people (Abu Gharib). Shades of grey exist, but this was a disasturous foreign policy decision, that has neither advanced freedom or served our national interest. It is impossible to play "peacemaker" as we attempt to do, in a conflict where neither side wants us there...
Keeping Saddam in power after the first gulf war was a terrible foreign policy decision. Don't you think Saddam was torturing MUCH more people than the people being tortured now?
Those who called Glenn a moran and told him to wake up need to get a life and stop having the liberal minded idiots poison their minds with narrrow minded trash. It's obvious they cannot think for themselves. Too bad they cannot be in Iraq to see for themselves the good that has been done.
God Bless America God Bless Iraq .The hatred of 1% of the Iraqis who hate America are the problem, this country will make the difference in that whole region.
Eat shit and die Glenn. quit spreading lies. well, not lies exacly, selective reporting. he didn't talk about 600,000 civilians killed, many people displaced, civil war -if you can call it that-
I am iranian, and experienced 8 years of war with saddam and support of the same foreign coutries that now say saddam was dictator, why they didn't think of his brutal dictatorship at that time?? I guess you are iranian too, so please don't teach me history. But what is the difference between then and now? except now there are more conflicts, more deads, and more money in it for U.S.
My parents are Iranian not me. Man farsi harf mesanam. I was born in the US though. Do you still live in Iran? Tell me do you have freedom of speech there. I dislike Saddams government and Khomeni's crazy crazy goverment. I heard that youtube is banned in Iran. If you still live in Iran tell me how it is now in my parent's homeland.
I live in Iran, but now I am in England for studies. About situation, it is not good, it was much better during Khatami's presidency. Now again hardliners have gained control, and situation is getting worse everyday, sorry but i prefer not to talk about it in public space, where it can be traced back. but it was good to meet you.
What a load of BS and selective commenting to attempt to turn reality into something it is not. I could pick apart this entire video, but it is not worth the time. Just take the segment where he pointed out that Iraq has a GREAT economy that has created over 33,000 businesses. Of course, he just threw a number into the air that people cannot make any sense of. What people CAN make sense of is that the unemployment rate in Iraq is estimated between conservative figures of 25%-30%.
This also makes sense: Unemployment in Iraq at the beginning of 2006 was north of 60% which shows a rapidly declining trend. So the creation of businesses is decreasing unemployment. Static numbers mean something, but trends are often more important. The situation is not superb...no one claims it is...but it is improving, and by some measures at very quick rates.
All the guy is doing is reporting stuff that isn't heard on CNN. No matter what you think of Bush or Iraq, you can at least take 2 minutes and think of a few people actually getting help and the little bit of good away from this.
It's too bad that so many Americans' blind hatred of Bush keeps these "good news" stories from being told more often. Obviously it's not all grins over there, but it seems like many Bush-haters actually *enjoy* seeing stories of deaths and suffering in Iraq, just so they can smugly proclaim that it's all Bush's fault. Gee wouldn't the world be a better place if we replay 1930's Europe and stick our heads in the sand to ignore an enemy that grows more hateful and powerful with each passing day?
It just amazes me at the vitriol when some one posts something positive about Iraq. The hatred for the military is totally frightening. Thanks to Glenn for giving us more information about what is going right.
The government lives in a fortress!!! (Green Zone) Otherwise it would not survive... You could walk the streets of Saigon anytime during the Vietnam War... WAKE UP!!!
and of course we have our liberal friends on here to show us that they will always stand for doom and gloom and bring negativity to our cause at all cost. At least we know that the TRUTH is theyre the only ones who feel that way. And we know that with or without them (more than likely without) we will win this war and bring freedom to these people.

How many have been illegally detained & tortured? I only hope the US public don't fall for it! The sacchrine voiceover doesn't do much for it either.
Who was filling mass graves with people? Who was torturing people for fun? Who was killed for saying an opinion? Wait, are these the Iraq people who were under Saddam? The guy who would put people in gas chambers and put them in "acid rooms"? Oh yeah, they had it WAY better before we came in.
Two wrongs may not make a right, but its not the U.S. and their allies that are killing the Iraqi citizens. To the contrary, they are trying to protect them and this video points out that while there are bad things happing in Iraq, there are also good things. Things that need to be built upon.
Winning may not be a certainty, but there is one sure way to lose. Quit. I think those that have paid the ultimate price so far, including the Iraqi citizens deserve better than that.
