  • @wolfy9005 That is still just a cultural difference because in the U.S. we call them French fries or steak fries regardless of the size. He isn't wrong, he just uses different words colloquially than you do in Great Britain. Also, the point is that he is not making traditional fish n chips. He is a Southwestern cook who takes on others in their specialties and tries to do it with a twist from his specialty so that it is not the same as his opponents or anything else that has been done.

  • @rxolsen I agree about the colloquiallism, but fish and chip shop "chips" are really unique and are nothing like "fries" or American steak fries. They are a bit softer but still crispy on the outside and a bit more dense. May have to do with the type of potato they use. I think they use Maris Piper potatoes in England for their chips. Whatever they use they are REALLY good with the fish! I will be in England in a month and I will definitely be having fish n chips for dinner that night :)

  • I made some batter using the same recipe as Mat Arnfield. I've tryed loads of different recipes in a quest to make the perfect fish batter. I was shocked. It was just as good if not better then chip shop batter. Get some plain flower, add fizzy water till it reaches the right consistancy and add a drop of yellow food colouring.

Now the reviewers, as bias they are, said they like the presentation of the skillet. The stupid wanker just left didn't have time, cause of his poor time management, to plate his food and he get rewarded for it. Bobby won which was horrible, cause the other person food had good reviews.

  • you just make a very watery batter,like the constancy of a lotion or lighter and i just use lemon juice on top after its done, no vinegar. So its Flour,soda water,colouring(tumeric),the fish & lemons
