  • that is so good to see, I think now every aussie needs a pet koala!

  • no. we don't what we need is our native animals to survive in the wild and not have to rely on us.

but i have to say: this koala is so lucky! many of the animals didn't survive. hope it's ok!

  • aw man that's a beautiful video :)

  • It really does the heart good to see signs of life in the midst of all that death and destruction!

  • Yep. the true heroes are the survivors, the CFA the Salvos the relief centres, the ABC absolutely... and all ancilliary staff. I'm not out of it YET. Still close, but I'd leave. Property insured. My life..irreplacable.. The bravery and courage astounds me. Aussies know how to support each other in a crisis. Best wishes and the best of luck to all in Australia.

  • You folks are so brave! Deep respect! (with thoughts for a quick recovery, greetings from Bulgaria)

  • A true Aussie right here. What a champion

What else can I say but

    AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!

  • OI OI OI?

  • its so shocking to see what the fires have done. no one can comprehend why the arsonists would even think of doing what they did. but despite the huge losses, look at us.... everyone has come together we've raised more than what, $30m i think? maybe more. we're donating we're supporting we're helping each other and the rest of the world sends their condolences to us there are the terrible sides of disasters, but the beautiful thing is we've come together as a nation
  • last time i check its about $91mil i think. i heard it from sunrise

  • Mate, wat a true aussie legend you are..

  • hahaha how much can a koala bear? hilarious. isn't she adorable. the poor little thing had her little paws burnt :(

  • A bronze statue of this should happen!!

  • The ignorant local news called it a Koala 'BEAR'!! Sometimes I wonder how they get that job and why I can't have it. At least I know it's not from the 'bear' family.

    The idiots!

Bless it's heart. I hope it isn't suffering from the burns now that it is in animal hospital.

    SpeakTruer

  • thanks god that cute koala is fine!!!

  • The Aussie spirit lives on in the CFA guy's

  • With the human deathtoll rising daily, it is easy to forget about the massive amount of wildlife, stock and pets that have been lost to these fires...

The look of dissolution and disorientation on that animals face when they approached was enough to move me to tears! The paw in Daves' hand and drinking straight from the bottle were signs that he needed help and knew the guys were there to do just that! Totally touching for any animal lover!

  • I could not have said it any better.. I sit hear in tears as I write this thinking of little sam and all the other aniamls AND people that have lost there homes, familys, EVERYTHING.... I am so angry at the senceless people that started these horrible fires, but am also humbled at the compation of my fellow Australians... I am proud to call myself australian...

  • Just like all new homes by law require smoke detectors as standard, it is important that ALL new dwellings which are going to be built in HIGH RISK BUSHFIRE AREAS have as standard an UNDERGROUND EMERGENCY BUNKER. Nothing fancy, but at least something that WILL make the difference between life & death!!

  • *texasoperastar* sadly ppl were found dead in their cellars. What we need to do is educate our children and ourselves on how we can prevent ever seeing this again in our lifetime, and we need to work to change government innitiatives regarding more up to date warnings, alternate warning methods to people with no power and mass evacuations of rural towns during very high risk conditions such as last weekend!

  • What a very moving special moment that will be etched into Australian history as one of the great heroic and humbling expierences you will see thanks to you Dave and your crew all power to the CFA and all emergency services my deepest and heartfelt thoughts are with all the families and animals tragically affected in Victoria

  • I know this guy!

    I live in his town!

    Go David!

  • what a heartwarming video, good to see after all the fire that the little fella has survivied

  • what an awesome viseo, how heartwarming would that of felt doing that after all the fires

  • Make sure you become a fan of the 'Sam the Koala' page of Facebook! (the one with the most fans).

  • Dave, you and the rest of your mates rock.

  • You're all doing a great job guys. You all make me very proud and you deserve all the respect you are given.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Im so proud of our CFA.

  • You guys are legends. Thanks dudes. Hope the little guy can find some gum leaves soon.

  • amazing! and heart warming. :-)

  • Your a legend, as are all the firefighters and people helping out, good on ya!!!!!

  • Firefighters are heroes, but I love to see the love behind something like this.

  • Dave is a total legend, thats australian as good on ya Daveo

  • Thankyou !! doesn't seem enough for you legends, but it's absolutely from the bottom of my heart. Cheers to you all.

  • Poor little darling, so glad that you found the time to take care of him/her. Good on ya mate.

  • did everyone know that koalas get their water from the gum leaves they eat so its weird to see one actually having a drink

  • yep

  • I know David and he is a total legend! This is what he is all about! Good on ya mate!

  • Sam the koala was such a lucky lil girl, to survive that was just a miracle

  • wow thats sweet mate god bless you guys thanks for helping on 100% aussie.

  • Heroes! all of you guys!

Thank you for all you've done back home!

  • "How much can a koala bear"

  • I Love this!!!!

    It's shown on TVB(HK).

    In the news

  • Sam the Koala, would be saying one thing, and that is "Thanks Cobber"...these pictures were needed after a week of sadness, and mourning, it shows that there is hope for all us Aussies...

  • I like your comment...hope for all us Aussies. I was beginning to despair until the fire came to my home town. I hope Rudd and Brumby get it regarding climate change, and the DSE get it right regarding fuel reduction burns. The Vic govt has only accepted 6 out of 20 recommendations that the last enquiry found. Politicians are the bane of many lives..and the indirect cause of many tragedies. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for the whole nation. The support in Healesville is incredible.

  • You in Healesville too? My parents lost everything in Chum Creek. I hope you did better than them. Yes the locals are amazing. mum has had so many offers of a place to stay or furniture and so on. Makes me misty eyed just thinking about it! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!
