  • question: i don't understand why churches would have a bowling alley originally. Was it only for the clergy or was it a way to bring in more revinue for the church.....or some other reason. I grew up in the boston area and I have never heard of a church with a bowling alley

  • HA! I remember bowling on these lanes as a kid. my friends were so jealous i went to a school with lanes.

  • What a great clip!

  • There is a 4-Lane bowling alley underneath St. Boniface church in Peoria, Illinois. It's very similar to this one, except the pinsetters aren't against the wall, and the ball returners are in between lanes 1 and 2, and in between lanes 3 and 4. not against the wall.

  • Bravo! Chicago is filled with fantastic places that look unbelievably "vintage" - they look real because they are real. No need for a museum - the history's all still right here.

  • I wonder if this place is still up and running?

  • Very cool! Reminds me a lot of the neighborhood 8-lane center I bowl in. We even have the same above-ground ball returns!

  • Bruswick "a" pinsetters that are probably 45 years old or more, still running stong and will run another 45 years with preventative maintanance. Nice looking setup.

  • i go to this school!!! COOL!!!

  • my daddy's in this. he's at a couple of places, but the first is at 1:04. and my grandfather on my mother's side helped to build it.

  • wierd. He didn't look so peaceful when i was stealing his wallet.
