not all white people are born with straight hair? all of us may choose to straighten our hair for variety. i personally think some black people look better with straight hair and natural hair is very hard to manage and people like me (although im natural) just don't have the ideal lifestyle or time every morning to make it look nice. weave and perms are just personal preferences. i personally wear weaves or braids to grow out my hair without messing with it ! its a get up and go thing.

This isn't true. I'm 100% black with almost waist length hair but I still wear weave if I want a certain hair style and don't want to apply too much heat to my hair. I don't perm my hair either. I like wearing my hair kinky/curly and straight. Depends on the weather. Not all black women are the same skin tone. Light skin doesn't = bleached. Not all black women have the same hair type. BW have it hardest with hair. Our natural hair is not accepted- bless the 70's. All other races have easy maintanance hair. Washing & straigtening my hair is a 2 hour job. I HAVE 2 straighten it- its not manageable to style otherwise. The relaxers & perm damage our hair. I'd like to wash my hair & let it air dry & be able to manage it but I can't. With weave I can let my natural grow. Other races don't have to put the time effort money chemicals like we do to manage and style their hair.

This isn't true. I'm 100% black with almost waist length hair but I still wear weave if I want a certain hair style and don't want to apply too much heat to my hair. I don't perm my hair either. I like wearing my hair kinky/curly and straight. Depends on the weather. Not all black women are the same skin tone. Light skin doesn't = bleached. Not all black women have the same hair type. Most African Americans aren't close to being 100% African anyway.I don't understand this obsession with race.

If water or heat is applied my hair will wave and/or straighten.
On occassions I wear my hair braided with extensions. At other times I have it roller set by the Dominicans and blown out.
It's beautiful either way.

BW have it hardest with hair. Our natural hair is not accepted- bless the 70's. All other races have easy maintanance hair. Washing & straigtening my hair is a 2 hour job. I HAVE 2 straighten it- its not manageable to style otherwise. The relaxers & perm damage our hair. I'd like to wash my hair & let it air dry & be able to manage it but I can't. With weave I can let my natural grow. Other races don't have to put the time effort money chemicals like we do to manage and style their hair.

I agree with you 100%. U make some good points, especially about y black women choose the straight weaves over kinky ones. That's something to think about. I wish a bout of black ppl would pick the book "Hair Story", its based on facts and has some great quotes. You would enjoy it. The fact is, the more black texture hair is more expensive. & BM love the weave, When I wear my nature hair (its thick & shoulder length) I don't get nearly the amount of attention than the long lighter color weave. Also, some BW look FAB with natural hair- short, fros, curly, locks, but some don't. U wear what works 4 u.

Natural afro hair is not straight at all. The afro, braids and twist styles are not to everyones taste. If you are referring to "natural" afro hair the style choices are very limited and not all black females find these styles flattering.

Look around Youtube type in black woman and how to apply a weave, you will see different reasons why they wear them but non saying they really want to be white. The kinky weaves that you speak of comes from Indian women, black women are not the only women with kinky hair. It's a big world out there you will be amazed at how many black women I have seen with bone straight hair and white women I have seen with kinky hair. We are all diversed as women and should not be put in a box.

Europeans straighten their hair too. europeans don't get tans to be black, and blacks don't straighten hair to be white. exceptions are on both sides.

I wear weaves cause i refuse to color my hair. Yes I like to have light brown hair sometimes. I don't hate me, my features are great, my skin or my hair...I have no reason to. I do straiten my hair with a hot blow drier because i want strait hair today, but If I want curly hair I'll wet it and gel it. I don't have kinky hair but I have really curly hair, but I felt to comment because I am a black women and I wear weaves sometimes. And I have had a kinky weave before, I had to braid up my hair
