Speaking of politics, George W. Bush is the Dark Knight. He did everything he could to fight terror and save his country- sometimes going beyond the law like Batman did in this movie (bugging phones, breaking the legs of bad guys) - but in the end the political left branded him a war criminal. How Batman/Bruce tries to accept Rachel's death is absolutely touching. Plus in a better quality we could have seen that Batman's eyes are bright, like he was about to cry. See, that's what I like in this movie : Batman tries to be the perfect superhero but still has human limits.

@yvettestinks01 - I'm not so sure we can discard Bale's acting so easily. It takes some skill to act from behind a mask after all. There wouldn't be a Batman movie without him. That said, Eckhart was pretty darn amazing. His acting in the hospital (reacting to the Joker) was mesmerizing.
