Classic, just absolutely classic. This has to be the most memorable world series game evr played besides game 7 back in 1960 when Bill Mazeroski hit the game winning, series winning homer off ralph terry.
Game 6 was originally scheduled for October 18, a Saturday afternoon. Heavy rains in Boston bumped it back to Sunday, and then to Monday. By Monday the rain had petered out to a drizzle and they probably could have played that night, but Bowie Kuhn didn't want baseball going up against Monday Night Football, so he declared the field unplayable and the game was postponed a third day.
This was a good post simply because, to me, it was the greatest baseball World Series in my era which covers from 1975 to the present day. You can pick anyone of those 7 games to post. The Reds vs. the Red Sox. I always though that had a unique twist to it.

Isn't it pathetic that you tired ol' gals from Boston have to cherry-pick a single game from a losing Series as your high-water mark? Sad. Silly and sad.
@genldoz Galz..heh!, thats a funny one son.. You have picked on the wrong Soldier, and if I like the Red Sox in a particular game....so what? they aren't even my favorite baseball team, so no big deal, you can like who you want, but I wont come on your page and make you out to be an ass because I am not insecure going around razzing people for just being a baseball fan.
Joe Garagiola and Tony Kubek in the announcer’s booth with Dick Stockton making the call. John Kiley on the organ and Sherm Feller the PA announcer....just to name a few.
I'm reading Mark Frost's book "Game 6". Great book. Almost as good as another frost book: "The Match"

So they had Bryant Gumbel talking about the game, was these a recap of the 1975 World Series years late on NBC?

Baseball is the greatest sport in my opinion. I hope they never tear down Fenway. One of the last old parks left.
