  • He is bassist/singer

  • Tomonobu Itagaki on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader

  • lol I knew the answer too XD

  • I knew that in 7th grade O__O

  • did he sell his soul to satan???

  • @lawman193 NO, he auctioned it to Satan to get a better deal.

  • we learned this in 9th grade in Norway :P

  • he's not the lead singer of KISS, he's the bassist/singer for KISS.

  • the question was about the periodic table because the fith graders ware like the advanced kids in school so they learn more stuff

  • I don't know what grade means how old you are in the US, but heck, I only learned that when I was 15!!!!!!!!

  • Cool move Simmons!

  • I believe this was 7th grade for me..

  • @BlizzardofRubin because it was not 5th grade science.

  • Periodic Table 5th grade science ?? bull crap.

  • Omg, a blonde is smarter than a 5th grader!?

  • Some questions they give are really out of the line and they are actually taught on high schools, this isn't one of them. I remember learning it somewhere around the fifth grade.

  • I dunno guys... I remember learning this in 5th grade. The only ones I actually remembered when I was that young were Hydrogen (H), Helium (He), Oxygen(O), Gold(Au), Potassium(K), Calcium(Ca), Carbon(C) and Nitrogen(N). I don't think we had tests on specific elements, but we had to know what the periodic table was.

In fact, people saying they didn't learn this until 9th or even 11th grade is scary to me.

  • tbf, they say: smarter then a 5th grader

just didnt say it was 5th grade in genius school

  • Godammit get to the million dollar question already motherfucker 4:12 shit

  • 5th grade science my ass. If kids were learning the periodic table in 5th grade, America's education system wouldnt be in the state it is today.

  • I like how he said "But TODAY I'm not smarter than a fifth grader." He implies that he just had a bad day but on most days, he IS smarter than a fifth grader. It leaves him with some dignity. LOL

  • That was not even a hard question. Gene clearly isn't that intelligent.

  • Gene Simmons isn't the leader singer of Kiss.

  • Gee, I wonder which of the parents was helping their kids with the homework?

  • Comment removed

  • ok im in 11th grade and i just lerned that shit

  • Gene simmons is a fucking tool

  • i learned about it in gr9..

  • I learned about the periodic table in grade 10 lolololol

  • TRUE LIFE SAYS IF YOU ARE SMARTER THAN THE ONE ON THE STUPID FUCKING RETARDED SHOW ASKING THE QUESTIONS....YOU ARE PUNISHED AND STOLEN FROM IN REAL LIFE. FUCK YOU AND DIE.

  • I really hate to give Gene credit for anything (his ego's big enough), but to his credit, at least there really is an element called krypton! XD

  • million doolar question.... srsly?

  • this is grade 7 science....when you start doing labs in science class and learning the periodic table...but he should have said K stands for Kiss...lol

  • This was between 7th-9th grade to me..

  • this would of been michael jacksons best program

  • Dude I had that in 8th grade... what 5th grade class are they getting these questions from!?

  • what the hell i did not even learn this shit until i was fuking in 6th grade

  • he'd have got it if it was a biology question.. after all, his name is Gene.

  • its obvious that gene simmons owns this show....

  • Probably in Asian 5th grade science.

  • The Count has locked in his answer with monocle

  • Wtf? why didnt i learn anything they show on here in my 5th grade classes? are they trying to make me stupid or something!? This is such a scam. Wtf school do they teach this shit in elementary school?

  • There is NOOOOOO way that is a fifth grade question!!!!!!! I didn't learn anything from the periodic table until high school!!!!

  • wtf i learned this in 6th grade :(

  • Ridiculous. Learned the elements in 9th grade. Talked a little bit about the elements in 8th grade. But certainly not a 5th grade question.

  • @LovingTreasure I learned it in grade 7. probably didn't actually absorb what it mean't until grade 9 though

  • These 5th Graders must be in advanced classes

  • that was a bit easy for a million dollar question...

  • Why does gene simmons thinks he looks so good? Hes fucking ugly and his hair is a mess...lol..Shannon tweed even ADMITTED she only stayed with him because he had money. Lol

  • i thought it was iron

  • the music at the end is like TORTURE! they should've played some death metal instead and then have had gene spit out blood.

  • in my 5th grade class we were dissecting owl shit and looking at bugs. I learned this in 8th grade, This show really makes no sense

  • Although fifth graders really do not learn this, adults should easily win 1 million dollars on this show.

  • @TheIphone4thewin if you an adult and this is fifth grade stuff im pretty sure you gonna forget about it

  • 4:12 gene, you are not smarter than a playboy bunny.

  • @vallt1 LOL WIN.

  • Wait, wait! The LEAD SINGER of Kiss? Are you fucking dumb?

  • he wish he was a rock god without Paul Stanley he would be nothing.

  • @charlesc300

    Or Ace

  • @SuperSquishface or Eric or Tommy, or Bruce, or Eric

  • How the hell is this fifth grade?!!

  • lol at the guy at 2:28. Nobody want to be peter criss xD

  • I'm 14, I would have aced that shit. I said potassium right away.

  • @ImMimicable if your 14 i hope you can get that question right but gene is 61 and he probably doesnt remember that last time he looked at the periodic table so thats why he didnt ace that SHIT!

  • THIS IS NOT 5TH GRADE SCIENCE, NOR IS IT 4TH GRADE, NOR 3RD GRADE PERIOD. Some people don't learn this until highschool. Luckly I knew the answer. I mean seriously, are 5th graders soon going to learn about string theory?

  • @Oshyrath

If this was really 5th grade material, then why isn't the U.S. already colonizing Jupiter?

  • @Oshyrath Well IDK about you but we read "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene in 4th grade...

  • @ajatkinson2004 Does that have anything to do with quantum mechanics?

  • @Oshyrath hah i had to in 4th grade O.O

  • @TheHelloKitty9091 Well you shouldn't have. Chemistry requires a knowledge of math that you probably didn't know back in fourth grade.

  • @Oshyrath ha , well i had too d;

  • @TheHelloKitty9091 So, if I asked you a chem question are you able to give me the correct answer?

  • @Oshyrath probably.

  • Comment removed

  • that right there is a Denius, most artists are dumb as fuck but Genre actually went to highschool

  • i learned that in my 7th grade sience class..

  • ... I learnt that in 8th grade...

  • wow I learned that in my 9th grade science class...what 5th grade textbook are they looking at?

  • @tizeltime08 not 9th grade, maybe 7th grade you learn that.

  • @tizeltime08 lmaoo samme :S

  • @tizeltime08 asian textbooks teach you more then you need to know in life.

  • @tizeltime08 i totally agree with you that this show is bullshit but i actually did learn this in 5th grade

  • @tizeltime08 Asian textbooks.

  • @The40thThief and this is why china is taking over...

  • @tizeltime08 5th grade books from China

  • he laughs like a little girl with retard

  • He got an easy question....but atleast he did the rite thing cuz he didnt know the answer... and I dont get wat his wife said at 1:52 ..

  • @hyuuganz something about on their first date saying: "that's the farthest any celebrity has ever gotten"

  • Hmmm, Is it just me or is Gene Simmons An Old Version Of John Morrision.. lol

  • THAT'S a million dollar question??!!! How easy......jeeze. And let's forget about how his hair looks - take a look at how his woman, Shannon, looks!! THAT'S a million dollar woman!

  • i was screamin' "POTASSIUM"

  • this kills me cause i got season 5 of family jewels and when he agrees with mark burnett to do it and he informs gene that if he fails he must say hes not smarter than a fifth grader he just goes NO No way am I gonna do that on NATIONAL TV LMAO

  • With all the money he has, can't he find a better looking wig? I mean, really. It looks like somebody super-glued a skunk to his head.

  • americans learn chemistry in 5th grade?bullshit

  • @ulongkoror I'm with u

  • Stephen Hawking should be on this show

  • Haha, nick :)

  • lol i didn't learn that untill 9th grade!

  • Classic American intelligence from 'are you smarter than a fifth grader'.

For a dose of British intelligence, search "University Challenge".

Which clearly shows the massive gap in knowledge between the two.

  • @Veneratio10 "Imagination is more important than knowledge." - Albert Einstein.

  • @Veneratio10 - Proper grammar would be "University Challenge." - Jenious - lol

  • Ned Flanders?

  • Damn, that is a fifth grade question... potassium. WHY DON'T I GET A MILLION!

  • since when is gene the lead singer? :L

  • @russellbrandfreak Lol I thought the same thing when he said that, what a prick xD

  • @generalkyletheman Hey did both... Check yourself before correcting other people

  • @caesar19931 Paul Stanley is the lead singer for Kiss. Yes, Gene sang some songs like Domino, but he wasn't the lead singer. Check yourself before correcting other people.

  • @generalkyletheman Yes both Paul and Gene shared vocals all along, peter sang as well. Gene had the lion's share of radio play back in the day. Paul took the lead during the mid 80's as Gene kinda checked out of the band

  • @TheRockerchef Yes they did, but Paul Stanley is noted as the lead singer, not Gene Simmons. When you go to Kiss concerts, the only person that sings is Paul Stanley. I know Gene has sang in some songs, as has the other band members, but Paul Stanley is the lead singer.

  • @generalkyletheman Well he's certainly the spokesman for the band, and the only one who "speaks" to the audience. They can tag Paul as lead singer but, when you dont have one guy as the lead singer such as Robert Plant.Jon Bon Jovi,David Lee Roth and the like I myself do not call it "lead singer". and Paul is not the only one to sing in concert...God of Thunder,Duece,Rock and Roll All Night,Parasite and alot more are all Simmons sung.

  • @generalkyletheman thank you for taking the liberty of pointing that out before i did

  • @generalkyletheman He was the bassist but also the lead vocals of Kiss, you retard. Sounds like you aren't as smart as you think you are.

  • @Kylieminogue217 All the members of Kiss sang some songs. You can't consider every band member in Kiss all lead singers. Paul Stanley is the lead singer and Gene is sometimes considered the lead singer too. I consider him a co-singer. More of a bassist than a lead singer. I know he did lead sing some songs like Domino and God of Thunder but I still don't consider him the lead singer since all the band members have sung some Kiss songs.

  • @generalkyletheman Ace and Peter sang only a handful of songs.

  • @generalkyletheman Paul and Gene split the vocal duties fairly evenly in KISS.

  • @generalkyletheman he still sings in a lot of Kiss songs idiot

  • believe it or not. pauly shore kicked ass at this game. he only missed the 1st Q. then ran the board after that.

  • it's cool that Peter Criss showed up to give Gene his support haha

  • leadsinger of kiss? Gene?

  • Good on Nick for saying that Gene could give 500k out of his own pocket later as well. Thats why I never understand these celebrity charity game shows.

  • @TheHockeyCentral 'Cos the Celebrity shows boost up ratings... Bigger ratings = more money.

  • I am just curious if a person would say K for Kalium instead of Potassium, would they accept the answer? :P That's how it got its K for....Also a few European countries still use Kalium instead of Potassium in school...

  • @veryjellybelly or Au for aurum!

  • @timberswiss3 yes you're right;)

  • @veryjellybelly Kalium and Potassium are really the same matter, the former is just a new latin version of calling it. Being a quiz show they should allow both, though Potassium is more popular in english spoken countries.

And I personally learned the periodic table at 5th grade like many other. Every single one of them. We actually had 3 tests so that everyone would remember them (:

  • @WXKFA I know it's the same. Kalium is taken out from Alkali. I know the periodic table too since the 5th grade =) I took major in Chemistry as well as the other fields of science in my Upper Secondary School (we have kind off different system where I live). Now I'm on my 2nd year of Medicine and I still have Chemistry in the form of Biochemistry in 2 years now, taking the finals on Tuesday hehe. Too add, Potassium is a very important ion in our body;)

  • @veryjellybelly Education in Norway is very similar to the education in Finland so I got you. I'm almost 19 and just graduated from Upper secondary school so my next target will be The University of Technology so I bet you know more about this subject than me being in a med school and all :)

Too bad my studies will get delayed a bit because of the conscription..

But hey, good luck to your finals!

  • @WXKFA Finland, hey! neighboring country=) What do you plan to study? I still remember the time when I was applying for universities, it was fun but kinda scary because it's a choice of a lifetime and I felt it's my sole responsibility. The biochemistry final went very well. Still one more exam to go and it's the biggest of them all!

Good luck with your military service=)

  • @veryjellybelly Well, I'm aiming to become an electrical engineer so I'll take subjects that are needed for that kind of work. Because that involves mainly natural science I think I'll take some little less complicated subjects too, just for fun.

And hey thanks, and be sure to ace that exam.

  • @WXKFA haha what a coincidence! My bf is taking electrical engineering=) He is also on his 2nd year. He took bachelor in Physics, previously. According to him, physics and mathematics are really handy, so be sure to have those subjects. Good luck!

  • i learned the periodic table at 8th grade

  • Who the fuck learns that shit at 5th grade?!?! I thought the American school system was trash as well? I'm from the UK, and I learnt it at 8th...

  • gene did the right thing! he wasnt greedy and didnt want to risk loosing money when it was for charity. on his tv series Gene Simmons Family Jewels his girlfriend Shannon wanted him to answer, but if he answered and got it wrong he'd have lost all that money for charity. He chose not to answer to guarantee charity would at least get something! and he got the farthest of any celebrity on the show, and he's a great businessman. this show does not measure intelligence!

  • @4WingedBeatlez or he could've got it wrong and then just wrote a check for an even higher price...we all know he can afford it..

  • he's the lead singer now? hmm

  • "what grade science is it?" the show is called are you smarter than a 5th grader

  • Screw fith grade I was a freshmen when I learned that

  • If he had answered krypton? wtf HE DID how did he end up not losing?

  • @THENINTENDOLUMINARY

He had already passed on the question.

  • hehe gene's wife IS smarter than a fifth grader XD

  • Comment removed

  • i learn this in 9th grade wtf is up with 5th grade

  • @handsul101 these "5th graders" were probably skipped up a few grades.. O__o

  • "I'm gonna fix my hair"

  • lol, for once a blonde girl thats NOT dumb

  • Gene shall fuck those 5th graders

    /sadistic smile

  • what'a fuck is up with the hosts laugth?

  • @maidenrocks98 that's the laugh of the man who has sold the most comedy albums of all-time and in the world. (no fooling)

  • @maidenrocks98 I have a small penis

  • whats that black stuff on his head? oh, thats his hair.

  • damn Gene control your wifes plastic surgery holy shit

  • 5th grade? I learnt that in the 8th grade

  • @keyblok same here... I didn't even know what the periodic table was in 5th grade xD

  • wtf!!! thats not a 5th grade question in the u.s.!!!! maybe in China...lol

  • @FlamingTerrapins yes it is

  • MILF!

  • That's Jeff Foxworthy. He's part of the Blue Collar Comedy tour with Larry the Cable guy etc.....

  • the million dollar question was NOT a fifth grade question..i just learned it and i'm in grade 9

  • Kazakstan, mass producer of POTASSIUM!

  • pwned by his wife.... LOL

  • haha the laugh the host does is abseloutely HILARIOUS

  • That was a fairly easy science question. But then again I am a Chemistry major and have had 3 years worth of Chemistry as of now. I dont know how many 5th graders are studying the periodic table. But if they are, they will be very advanced in science come college.

  • @longfootbuddy ur an ass.. alot of those kids have gotten the questions wrongg ndd alot of us haventt been in the 5th grade in a longg ass time buhtt still remember these questions

  • gene is an ass

  • Like gene simmons needs more money, christ. xD

  • @BowxToxMexHumans : The money goes towards a charity

  • @BowxToxMexHumans It's for CHARITY!!!!! Didn't you listen? THIS IS THE FARTHEST ANYONE HAS EVER GONE FOR CHARITY....

  • @BDOUG23 Holy bawls I was kidding. xD Sorry.

  • did he just say lead singer of kiss...what

  • His wife sorta looks like Cameron Diaz. o_O

  • I love this host

  • lol i remember this on his show, sophies not there cuz she was taking the SATs

  • this shows so stupid...the kids get to memorize the material right before the show, and it makes everyone think american schools are so great...they are brainwashing factories and job creation centers for the countless dipshits that become teachers because they cant do anything else...but genes cool

  • @longfootbuddy Cool sweeping generalization, bro.

  • Sophie isn't there.

  • I love KISS and Gene, but doesn't everyone know that K = Potassium?
