Love your way of teaching Jamie on Lick Library DVD and I learnt a lot from you, but I really didn't like this review. The switch just turns the bridge pickup on in all combos, and then, the sound of this recording was really un-gilmourish...may next time it would be better use a good overdrive or a muff for distortion...
i think the interviewer needs to read the black strat book because it seems that he knows nothing about the guitar and if i had the money to buy the guitar id buy it new and not relicked because over years of playing it will naturally become relicked which is better than the artificial way
This has to be the most unprofessional review of any guitar I have ever seen. The reviewer has done us all a great disservice by not doing ANY homework or making any attempt to learn anything about the specifics of this guitar. You don't have to be a Pink Floyd addict to find out even the basics about either of the Fender DGs. Since when was a toggle switch "some kind of a mid boost"? Please remove this video and get someone who gives a toss about guitars and proper marketing to do another.
Very unimpressed with this video overview. He does not know anything about the guitar at all, even does not know what the extra switch does or that there had been a Kahler trem in there. There are no comments AT ALL about how the guitar plays, or feels and he has made NO effort at all to get a Gilmour tone. A complete waste of time and has put me right off this guy .. and Guitar mag if this is their level of reviewing. In fact he has an air of dislike towards the guitar right off the bat.
Lol the reviewer doesn't really know what he's talking about. That little switch is for putting the bridge and the neck pickup together, and that routing behind the trem bridge is a leftover from the Kahler trem that was installed at some point and later removed..
@112358miau - not at all...I think that he's able to play gilmourish style, sort of. However, as I said before, the settings he used in the video are horrible. Too much distortion.... No delay and above all, no flanger at all. Thus, the logical conclusion is that he has no clue on how to get the DG Sound out of his equipment.
@Mamertum345 Well you can't have a "Dave sound" only using an amp and a guitar. But the problem is not this one and even the setting doesen't count. Is the guitarist that doesn't work!
I don't trust any review when the reviewer says "this things seems to be...". Not exactly done their homework if they don't even know the basic functionality of the thing they're reviewing.
@tichmen Jamies currently recording for the Issue 2 of iGuitarMag when hes out of filming will ask him see if he remembers and will get back to you! Let us know your thoughts on the rest of the mag - be great to get some feedback!
@iguitarmag i personanly love the mag its very user friendly and the reviews are extremly in depth the articles are interesting all round great magazine
Demo fail!! Only David Gilmour can correctly demo this guitar.

Jimi's Monterey Strat and Gilmour's Black Strat are the coolest Strats in history
