that Apex Physix settings will run on nvidia gpu but on ati it will not, rather it will be a software emulation and will use the cpu as the physix emulator. If I am not mistaken.

PhysX is just a physics enigine first and foremost. Usually it makes all its calculation on the CPU, but it also offers the ability to use the GPU if you have a nVidia card that supports CUDA.

So if you have an ATi card Mafia will do all it's PhysX Calulations on the CPU and since the Apex calculations need far to much computing time they will be omitted completely. You will only get them with GPU PhysX.

A solution for ATI card users:

guyz just do some steps to run mafia 2 with physx ....

1.go to game/edit/apex

2.delete cloths (this will turn off the effects of cloths)

3.delete Assets (optional)

Result: you will have fun running physx only in firing nd explosion without any lag.............(for Ati card users only)

amd-ati video card not support physx in the hardware.if anable physx , the game use software accelaration physics(use cpu),this give low frame rate.only the nvidia grafics card give higher frame rate.

@Expressionstudent If yo mean on Mafia II, just turn on PhysX on the options (it's not NVidia one), but, if you want NVidia PhysX, there are 2 options:

* Buy an cheap NV card with PhysX support

* Use modfied drivers (dangerous)

Yeah I'm pretty pissed myself, played the demo with my old card, 8800 gts 512 mb and it ran like a beauty and now with my new and a lot better card it runs like horse shit. At least other games are still good, although I was really looking forward to playing Mafia 2 with it and taking in all the goodness but oh well

Physx is uber retarded on ATI. the card remains at 80% usage while the CPU stays at 40% with 1.4 out of 2 GB of memory. I get no more than 9fps

@wodka450 Maybe it depends on ur memory. I had got less and less FPS while I was playing more and more. So if I destroy something, the information of the pieces of the destroyed object (thats physx) will be stored in the memory. And if u have small memory, it will be full soon. I had ordered 2X2 Gigs of 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM, now I have 2 GB 1333Mhz, so Im gonna look after this shit. :)

@macskap physx aint enabled nab, I have Ati radeon 6870 and i got physx on, and guess what, with physx on, it shows if you shoot a pillar, the stones, which causes lag, you aint got physx on.

I think that XFX cards are bit faster.
