actually the past 2 drifting champs have been american cars. powerful engine (eve whil stock) and rwd = good drifter. vipers have a disadvantage because of a fully indpendant suspension in the rear end normally one would use a live (solid) axel suspension in the rear.

And I don't know what you are talking about with this disadvantage the viper has.. if i recall correctly 240's, 350z's and many other popular cars for drifting have independent rear suspension. Also power doesn't matter, suspension is the key part, just look at the ae86, barely any horsepower at all.
