Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were both drafted with high expectations and commanded more money when coming into the league. Ginobili had to play overseas for a couple of years before the spurs even brought him over to play here in the nba and he's made a name for himself here. Paker was drafted late in the second round and came in at 19 years old from France. Neither player was supposed to be good. That's what Tim does, he makes his surrounding cast better. KG can't make the same claim.
yea do know everythin is on the coach right? like ray allen in the celtics right now, they dont want him to pass the ball, they juss want him to shoot 3s all day, thats doesnt make allen a bad fuckin teamate
KG is averaging the least amount of assists in his career this year.when he was on minnesota he had an average asisst of 5.0 a game for all those years.tim duncan had david robinson, stephen jackson, sean elliot, steve smith, finley, parker, bruce bowen, etc.for all those years and still only got 3 assists a game. and KG got to the WCF by himself (cassell was out for half the series, and sprewell was ready to retire)
kgs assist went down when he started playing power forward more. if you watch a game you'd understand y duncan doesn't get more assists. as soon as he kicks it out to the 3, theres usually at least 1 pass around the 3pt line before a shot is taken.
...so respitia...tim duncan made David Robinson (superstar already), Sean Elliot (all star), and Steve Smith (superior scorer) better? do ur research kid
Research? Do you think I'm getting my information from the Canadian Gazette? He makes everyone that plays around him better and I can't take credit for being the first to say that either. Countless pro's, analysts and nba legends have said the SAME. I don't have to research something that's in plain sight. David Robinson was The Spurs best player before Duncan but never got to the finals and never got a ring when he led the team. It wasn't until Duncan came along that he got his two rings.
Same goes with Elliot, great player that probably would have made a bigger name for himself had he played in a bigger media market but playing alongside Duncan made him more effective.
Steve Smith was already a well known former allstar before he got here but like Moses Malone, Chuck Perkins and Nick Van Excel...they came aboard when they were in during the twilight of their careers and playing alongside Duncan gives other players more opportunity because so much of the other teams attention is focused on him.
I recommend looking up someones profile before contending their posts. If I was a 22 year old kid from canada, I wouldn't tell a 33 yeard old man from San Antono that THEY are the ones that need to do more research on a local team they follow night in and night out. .
People outside this region hardly get to see the spurs play unless it's nationally televised much less living in another country. How are you gonna compare what you've seen from them versus the countless games I've seen them play. Youth is ignorance
Once things for sure, if he can't win a ring this year playing with Ray Allen & Paul Pierce, he isn't as good people think he is. Other than the 2 rings won with Robinson, Tim has never played alongside players as high profile as those two. Ginobili and Parker are all stars now but they worked to earn that respect and position.
tim duncan has always had the team to back him up, if he didnt have the team to be sucessful i'm sure he wudnt of got those seasons mvp's. KG has never had the team, but now he at Boston im excited cuz they goin do somethin eventually. yuh KG
Hopefully Kevin Garnett will get traded to San Antonio and join Tim Duncan so then KG can win his first title. Kind of like what Antoine Jamison, Payton, and Mourning did in the HEAT.
no, tim jus knows wen to turn it up and wen not to. 2003 the only OTHER good player he had was robinson who was gonna retire the next year. kg can never perform the way he must and has to during the playoffs
Um, excuse me. Ok, you;re right, one man doesn't win a championship, but one man CAN at least take a team to the playoffs. His name was Kobe Bryant. if KG is so damn good, why didn't the Wolves at least make the playoffs? Exactly, so shut the hell up and get off KG's nutsack.
firstly, if you look at the wolves at the beginning of the season they were playing well, but then they replaced their coach with a crappy one and then they played like crap. Kobe also has better teammates than KG.
So, after disregarding the statistics and awards/rings, Garnett ends up on top (not by a long shot but he's pretty distanced away). You can disagree, it's not my problem. Just don't tell anyone it's just luck/coincidental how Garnett leads the league in Efficiency and is rated higher than Duncan (and the highest player) in most of the NBA video games.
Stick to your video games kid. In the real world, any GM, Coach or Player will choose Duncan hands down. To say otherwise is as silly as your argument. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta move on to other topics.
BTW James I couldn't help but notice that you mentioned the word "Biased" in your attempt at an argument. In fact to be specific, part of what you said "Ask someone that isn't biased to judge who plays better ball on the court." It's funny you said that because according to your "Favorites" here on youtube, I see that 7 out of your 10 favorite videos are all on Garnett and the other 3 on video games. Seems to me that you are the one that's biased.
Also, Garnett has the SPEED which Duncan lacks (a lot, apparently). There is nobody in this league that is fast enough or big enough to guard KG. Duncan is nothing out of the paint while Kevin Garnett can do everything all over the court. Just watch and see.
Just take a good look. Can Duncan play all the positions on the court? No, not even. KG can. Sure, you can say, "Duncan is better at the power forward position!". Not neccesarily. The position of the power forward is not to purely dominate. You still have to be a team player and this is wear KG stands over Duncan. Garnett's presence on the field is more helpful to a team than Duncan's.
Bleh, stats don't show everything, moron. Have you ever seen both of them play? Ask someone that isn't bias to judge who PLAYS better ball ON THE COURT. I bet you my life that they will say Garnett. Do you really want me to get deep? Sure, Duncan used to post up better stats and does indeed have more rings. He's a great player, yes he is. However, you can judge just by the way they play that Garnett is a much more talented player than Duncan.
Part3 Bill Simmons "In fact Duncan has never played for a dominant team, the Spurs have never had quite enough talent to roll through the league. Trapped at the top of the standings, they've been forced to rely on others' failed lottery picks, foreign rookies, journeymen and head cases with baggage. Zoom through San Antonio's past 10 rosters on basketball-reference dot com some time. You'll be shocked. Tim Duncan has never played on a great basketball team. Not once."
Oh but KG's team is just FULL of all-stars ranging from Szerbiak to Ricky Davis (sarcastically said) Manu and Parker would definitely get blown out in a 2-on-2 game against Davis and Szerbiak. Not to mention David RObinson. Get Real. THe spurs have Greg Poppovich as a head coach while T-wolves have had crappy management
Part 2 Bill Simmons said: "Assuming the Spurs win the 2007 title and Duncan captures his fourth Finals MVP award (both decent bets), his first professional decade will have concluded with four rings, two regular-season MVP awards and nine first-team All-NBA nods. His best teammates have been David Robinson (who turned 33 in Duncan's rookie year), Manu Ginobili (never a top-15 player) and Tony Parker (ditto).
Duncan can't carry the world, can he? Once he can, call me up and I'll have a tea party with Garnett. Oh, and I'd like to see Duncan play with something called "passion". If Duncan is "better" than Garnett, playing with "passion" would be like a stroll in the park.
Bill Simmons latest article says's:"Fifty years from now, some stat geek will crunch numbers from Duncan's era and come to the conclusion that Kevin Garnett was just as good. And he'll be wrong. No NBA team that featured a healthy Duncan would have missed the playoffs for three straight years. It's an impossibility."
they are more better sides (both of two ballers). i dont want even to see youtube e-mails. i love tim duncan. he can be my favourite man but in this video garnett overs duncan.ok?
You'll never get it dude. Even though I stand behind the comment I made about the Stats not really being the #1 way to judge who's better, I looked it up and Duncan beats Garnett in career FG percentage, points, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and Blocks per game in LESS MINUTES PLAYED FOR CAREER! Garnett has Duncan in Free throws, 3 pointers, steals and Assists. If you need the links, I can email them.
kg better than duncan only offense. kg'S rebounds steals. are these junk thinks.you say that duncan doesnt have to do points and rebounds. if u believe that i say duncan cannot do points and rebounds.
A few years ago, Duncan had to post big numbers ACROSS THE BOARD for the Spurs to have a shot at winning. Nowadays, he doesn't have to do that. If pop were to change things up and have Duncan as the first option again then he would naturally post better number across the board. Remember, Duncan plays less minutes than a lot of star players in the league including KG. I can email you a couple of links from Larry Bird and Espn talking about how KG Vs. Of course he going to put up more numbers because he has to. If you wanna compare stats, compare KG vs. someone like Allen Iverson or Gilber Arenas. Lots of these NBA players take more shots and score more points because they are the first option on offense.
KG wins the stats battle battle, there is no doubt there but here is something to chew on. KG has always been and is still their first option on offense.

Duncan doesn't post more points or higher stats than KG cause he doesn't have to. And when you consider that into the mix it makes Duncans number more impressive.
Duncan is going down as an all time great Garnett as an all time underachiever. 3 Rings, 3 finals mvp's says it all. As far TD being boring. I don't find watching KG shooting fadeaway jumpers all night long exciting and that is 90% of his offensive game.
ricky davis and keith van horn arent selected for the all-star team. latrell sprewell and sam cassell came to the minnesota after they had been become old.
Ricky Davis and Keith Van Horn have been all stars before. Sam and Latrell were both good enough to start ALL SEASON and into the playoffs averaging good numbers so obviously they were still good.

Garnett also played alongside Rasho for many season and didn't come close to the playoffs. He was also playing alongside quite a few allstars during the last 7 years or so like Latrell Sprewell, Sam Cassell, Wally Szczerbiak, Ricky Davis, Keith VanHorn.
Robinson played alongside Duncan for the entire 1999 season not the whole 2003 season. He was injured for 18 games and played only a few minutes in the finals so he wasn't a factor in the 2003 playoff run really. The bench was playing alongside Duncan. This discussion is moot. KG is good but can't compare with Duncan. Any NBA analyst will agree and the fans that don't and use arguments like "Tim is boring" prove my point.
OK the only good season garnett had was with spreewell and cassell. They made it to the semi-finals against the lakers. Cassell got injured along with their back-up troy hudson. So their 3rd reserve point-gaurd along with hoiberg, and KG ended up playing pointgaurd
KG is a poor mans Duncan. No comparison. KG wears his emotions on his sleeve but one MVP and no rings matches up silly against Duncan's 3 Rings, 3 Finals MVP Awards & 2 League MVP Awards and Counting.
Respect to duncan, but KG is the most complete player in nba, I personally like duncan, but I think KG is someine to be afraid of k, And I like his game, so Aggesive, love em both- respect
