Tager is bottom tier for a reason. He's slow, his hitbox takes up half the screen, he can be juggled around easily, and all of his grabs are exactly that: escapable grabs. I main Makoto and Tager is actually one of her worst matchups due to her lack of reach, but even then the matchup is about 7:3 in Makoto's favour.
Take note: MikeZ quit Blazblue because ArcSys kept fucking over his main, again and again and again. Playing low-tier chars is fun, but after some time, it hurts.
@IAmTheStig320 I agree with you. As a person that used to only play low-tiers in other fighting games, it sucks going up against OP'd characters, not to mention if the player behind them is halfway decent.
We can relate. Playing a bottom-tier character is fun and rewarding, as I'm sure most people who mained Tsubaki in vanilla CS will tell you. However, if a character misses out on so many chances to get the buffs they deserve, you just feel like the developers hate you, your character, and the other players. You have to work harder for your wins, and it's incredibly frustrating. It's like being the neglected child in a circle of siblings.
(Sorry if I'm ranting but I have a strong opinion on it): The problem with ArcSys is they hand out buffs depending on popularity instead of who needs it. Look at CS2: Makoto, Noel, Taokaka and Hazama, all of them were S Tier (HZ and TK still are in Ext) and had massive fanbases.
Another example: remember when CT came out and Bang was C Tier, then everyone said Bang was awesome, and he became S Tier in CS, then everyone said he was annoying and OP, so he became C Tier for CS2? Yeah.

It may explain why a lot of the characters tend to stay in the middle since their fanbase doesn't particularly shine where as Tager is not liked by players who don't know how to fight him because of his damage. Though that doesn't explain why Jin was so good in CS2 since he is rather annoying (back in CT with Ice Car...) and now Ragna is set to be really strong in CSE.
This guy is like the king of the epic comeback. First match, first round. Second match, first round...even hints during the last round, where one more combo would've ended it. I bet Goryus was sweating like a mad man during the second round just waiting for another inevitable and highly unlikely comeback.
Easy to spam D and memorize a few bread and butter combos. Harder to know every single aspect of your character.
I hate big characters n fighting games, they deal too much damage with only a few atacks, the other guy seems to be much more skilled, to cordinate the swords atacks is more dificult than hit ur oponent 6 times and almost kill him( watch min 1:20)

@fatalfury28 lol are you serious? 13 a cheap player? Do you realize that their are combos that can take 80% of Nu-13's health? Nu-13 has the worst def and can be killed extremely easily. Tager on the other hand has mass loads of Def and can connect combos extremely easily rather than Nu-13. Nu-13 takes timing and has so many openings especially sense tager is immune against projectiles at certain moments.

Just a curious question cause I have played BBCT sense day one it came out and tager can be extremely overpowered especially when his magnetic abilities such as pulling his opponents toward him if he hits with drive. I played a very pro tager and everytime i jumped he would use this ability to pull me towards him extremely fast. Equal skill Tager would mostly likely win.
i see this kinda shit happening in tekken 6 also, where you have a character that requires NO DISCIPLINE whats so ever vs a character that requires DISCIPLINE and the character that requires no discipline wins the match and the user actually feels although he/she has done something great, absolute fuckery, thats one of the reasons i plan on stop playing tekken 6.... @JunareG i dont know who or what exactly you may be talking about but if u feel certain characters require no discipline in tekken 6 then you need to change the way you play... i could maybe agree with you on your terms if you had said this was online but not offline. Tekken requires a lot of know how rather and a bit of luck or skill (in terms of mix ups and wall combos)

Kilik and siegfried were the highest played toons online by far. Tekken... welll seems like everyone is good with Law and Devil. Hell, mortal kombat just came out and everybody is Ermac and kung lao... it's just part of fighting games i guess. Some are worse off for balance than others.

@codigo1carlos It's for balance, Tager rarely gets a chance to hit some of these characters whilst they can hit him from pretty much anywhere on the screen, Tagers have to rely on mistakes to get close and if the opponent is smart they will be cautious not to screw up, he needs high damage to make up for the ammount of oportunities he lack to actually hit his opponent with his slow moves and difficulty getting close. People moan about his strength but really it's they're fault for getting close.

@EpicCodes That's kind of been how grapplers work in fighting games, they have very slow mobility, slow normals and not much combo potential but they make up for it by hitting hard and having fast damaging command grabs. Even then that still often isn't enough to make them on the same level as other characters because of their size and speed projectile users or long range fighters can keep them away happily. T.Hawk in SSF4 is an example of a grappler with bad mobility so he's still bottom tier.

@KeenoMajeeno1 yep, Tager and Nu, It seems that those are obvious picks on tournaments, I´ve been playing online (not too much though) and It´s the same thing. Not to mention that you can assign moves and specials on specific buttons, despite all this, the game has deep and complex g.p, but at the end...

As I said before, Blazblue is great, but is like a big casual/hardcore chaotic mix, I prefer Guilty gear and I definitely prefer capcom and SNK fighting games.
Mike_Z (TA) always use the same technique to fight Goryus(13). Goryus already know how to counter all Mike_Z moves... we can see that Mike_Z always getting hit when he jump... but he still keep jumping. The only thing that make Goryus win is keeping his distance.

@zack123awp TA is bottom tier. His powerful command grabs can be broken out of and his distortion can as well. I've done it before. Multiple times in one match. It's not that hard and I suck. V-13 is a zoner but they are balanced by low health (She has) and low combo damage (She does not have). Her huge combo damage lets a full combo do 1/3rd of tager's health without every going near him.
Nu is the metaknight of blazblue...dunno what I mean?...look at ANY match that has MK in brawl. She's not cheap...When you have NO bad match ups?...yea...you got some issues.

V-13 is awesome. I love that some of her costumes are based on NGE.
Apart from that, this is really good. I have trouble with any of the heavy hitters as 13 due to her terribad defense, though she is easier to play than the others, there is an unfortunate limit to her ability due to some awful melee. Apparently they're fixing that with Lambda and giving 13 the ranged nerfs she really needed.
I must be missing something. What looks like spamming...people are calling skills. When someone runs away the whole match. uses 1 button in combination with neutral, down or jump. His only combos were from counter hits from the one button and nothing else. Looks and smells like a fag spammer. How is this character even available to be played in a tourney. This shyt was boring. I'm glad they nerfed this bitch in the new iteration...I might actually play that one. On second thought...I'll pass.
@theripgutxxx you ARE missing a lot of things. Starting from the fact that MikeZ (tager) is probably one of the best player in America and the fact that a lot of Tager's moves have super armor at the start up meaning that the timing on Nu's drive attacks need to be pretty strict.
Whether it be that you use one button or two (or three) the sense of timing / spacing isn't something that you can "spam". D spamming Nus would' get destroyed simply by Tager's charge move that has super armor.

@theripgutxxx that's your choice then. All the characters in Blazblue were designed to have a unique style of fighting and Nu was designed to be zoning / projectile character. Believe it or not, other characters won more tourneys than Nu did both in JPN / USA.
If you could give a damn about theories and its actual application / execution, then you're just resigning yourself to be someone who tunnel visions on an archaic idea that fighting game should be all about rush down.
@theripgutxxx V-13 is horribly balanced in CT. I've mained her recently but I feel like a dick for doing so, even if I'm not brilliant yet (A lot of the people I play with can get past my drive because I overdo it). You'd be surprised how difficult it actually is to time the attacks properly, but its still ridiculous considering the skill of the shown Tager player.

@urbandave1983 V13's ability to hit a person with a far distance consequently makes her overpowered. She is the only character that is able to do that in this game. Tager won this match because he is a freaking TANK. So yeah, all people do now a days is spam those freaking swords
@urbandave1983 I use Nu, it is spamming. It's no different from noobs using Noel. Goryus ran away to use his drive even when Tager was open for Nu's 4B, a basic move that only drive spammers don't make use of =P
@versionintegrale yeah, but is much harder to start a combo with tager, you have to get near of the opponent or waste the spark bolt. Tager can do a lot of damage, but is a lot easier be Nu and keep attacking Tager from the other side of the screen until you kill him
@alen132465 The game is based around a timeloop and the characters are trying to nullify it thus, 'rebelling' against it. Blazblue is a mindfuck of plot-lines
I really hate Nu's drive spam, especially if it's against a character like Tager. The only way he can even get close enough is if he does his sledgehammer. But even then, there's a pause when he can do it again, which makes you open to even more drive spam :\

@codigo1carlos It's for balance, Tager rarely gets a chance to hit some of these characters whilst they can hit him from pretty much anywhere on the screen, Tagers have to rely on mistakes to get close and if the opponent is smart they will be cautious not to screw up, he needs high damage to make up for the ammount of oportunities he lack to actually hit his opponent with his slow moves and difficulty getting close. People moan about his strength but really it's they're fault for getting close.

@EpicCodes That's kind of been how grapplers work in fighting games, they have very slow mobility, slow normals and not much combo potential but they make up for it by hitting hard and having fast damaging command grabs. Even then that still often isn't enough to make them on the same level as other characters because of their size and speed projectile users or long range fighters can keep them away happily. T.Hawk in SSF4 is an example of a grappler with bad mobility so he's still bottom tier.

If you looked, then the small one has a attack that can hit ANYONE no matter where he is.. The big one was at a huge disadvantage, as he isn't by far as good as the small one.. Tager IMHO is no fair character, his grappling attacks can cost you your entire guage just like that! that plus his infuriating magnetic field attacks that complete his missing link in the chain i.e. you can't escape this dude no matter what!
P.S.: Mike is hell of a talented gamer and this reply is only criticizing the balance of the characters in this game.

Not to mention that you can assign moves and specials on specific buttons, despite all this, the game has deep and complex g.p, but at the end...

@KeenoMajeeno1 It doesn´t matter too much, because Tager and Nu will always have advantage over the other characters...haven´t played ¨continuum shift¨ though, so maybe they balanced the sequel.
As I said before, Blazblue is great, but is like a big casual/hardcore chaotic mix, I prefer Guilty gear and I definitely prefer capcom and SNK fighting games.

Mike_Z (TA) always use the same technique to fight Goryus(13). Goryus already know how to counter all Mike_Z moves... we can see that Mike_Z always getting hit when he jump... but he still keep jumping. The only thing that make Goryus win is keeping his distance.

@zack123awp TA is bottom tier. His powerful command grabs can be broken out of and his distortion can as well. I've done it before. Multiple times in one match. It's not that hard and I suck. V-13 is a zoner but they are balanced by low health (She has) and low combo damage (She does not have). Her huge combo damage lets a full combo do 1/3rd of tager's health without every going near him.

V-13 is awesome. I love that some of her costumes are based on NGE.
Apart from that, this is really good. I have trouble with any of the heavy hitters as 13 due to her terribad defense, though she is easier to play than the others, there is an unfortunate limit to her ability due to some awful melee. Apparently they're fixing that with Lambda and giving 13 the ranged nerfs she really needed.

I must be missing something. What looks like spamming...people are calling skills. When someone runs away the whole match. uses 1 button in combination with neutral, down or jump. His only combos were from counter hits from the one button and nothing else. Looks and smells like a fag spammer. How is this character even available to be played in a tourney. This shyt was boring. I'm glad they nerfed this bitch in the new iteration...I might actually play that one. On second thought...I'll pass.

@theripgutxxx you ARE missing a lot of things. Starting from the fact that MikeZ (tager) is probably one of the best player in America and the fact that a lot of Tager's moves have super armor at the start up meaning that the timing on Nu's drive attacks need to be pretty strict.
Whether it be that you use one button or two (or three) the sense of timing / spacing isn't something that you can "spam". D spamming Nus would' get destroyed simply by Tager's charge move that has super armor.

And the other just kinda, you know, run away and stay pretty much full screen and spam projectiles. I don't blame the player at all...she is made that way. @theripgutxxx that's your choice then. All the characters in Blazblue were designed to have a unique style of fighting and Nu was designed to be zoning / projectile character. Believe it or not, other characters won more tourneys than Nu did both in JPN / USA.
If you could give a damn about theories and its actual application / execution, then you're just resigning yourself to be someone who tunnel visions on an archaic idea that fighting game should be all about rush down.

@theripgutxxx V-13 is horribly balanced in CT. I've mained her recently but I feel like a dick for doing so, even if I'm not brilliant yet (A lot of the people I play with can get past my drive because I overdo it). You'd be surprised how difficult it actually is to time the attacks properly, but its still ridiculous considering the skill of the shown Tager player.
Can't wait for Lambda.

@versionintegrale yeah, but is much harder to start a combo with tager, you have to get near of the opponent or waste the spark bolt. Tager can do a lot of damage, but is a lot easier be Nu and keep attacking Tager from the other side of the screen until you kill him

But "Rebellion" fits the games theme altogether. As a matter of fact, Rebellion/conflict is the main factor in any fight.

I really hate Nu's drive spam, especially if it's against a character like Tager. The only way he can even get close enough is if he does his sledgehammer. But even then, there's a pause when he can do it again, which makes you open to even more drive spam :\
