I am a descendant of one of the first settlers on Lord Howe Island who I am told was the daughter of one of the Tribal Chiefs in Kiribati (circa 1850). Wouldn't that make LHI a territory of Kiribati, according to law in place during that particular era; even if my great grandmother had ride a pony to get there (American Whaler).

The Island even has a pyramid in the sea for god's sake. How cool is that.
