I love it's simplicity - That its one contiuos shot of the guy walking on the beach(Ya ever wonder if the rest of the band is pissed they dont get to be in it?) The story is that one of the guys mom died and so instead of doing something more "light' they went in this almost-depressing direction. Quite beautiful really.

It's a song about the sun, comparing the light (yellow) with the loved one. That's the reason why the video is shot at dawn, just before the sun comes up. Basically, the song is about hope because when the light sets in you feel happy and confident that the future will be better. And love is like light, it makes you feel confident in yourself. That's the way I see it.

I think the song speaks volumes...the video doesn't need a huge theme. Its beautiful in its simplicity. It was so random, it would lose that if it went with the carnival theme.

The video wasn't supposed to be like this. It ended up this way because the day they filmed it, it was blowing a gale and pouring with rain. They could only point the camera in one direction (with the rain behind) to Chris was singing into wind with rain in his face. All the stars etc were added afterwards digitally and at great expense.

True story, Coldplay member Will's mom died of cancer prior to this video. The video was sort of like a carnival theme at first. They stopped in the middle of the shoot at the time of her death. They had to meet a deadline and the extras got tired of waiting. So Chris got rid of the extras, came back to do the video himself early in the morning before the sunlight emerges. This video is a tribute to Will's mom. That explains the sunset to sunlight thing going on in the video.

Amazing song, definately one of my favorites. I don't think Coldplay gave it justice with the music video, though. The only thing in it I found halfway interesting was the change from night to day. I, for one, think that they could've done a lot better. It was pretty much the same thing all the way through, which turned out to be really boring. Big disappointment for me, there. D`=
