  • well sir with all due respect my homeland needs work not a handout if one problem that permeates most third world countries is any is corruption and people who dont want to work so instead of giving us food and water give us a job help us stop being dependent on foreign aid NGO's sometimes damage countries economical assets people need to work hard first and worry about standards of living later thank you for the help but i would think those people would like to work instead

  • Hi, I am glad that you are taking this seriously. Your point about simply providing aid is good. ADRA is largely in the business of Development (though it does aid very well. Have a look at the video response on 'The Dry Zone'

  • the poverty has been reduced to 36 percent i have no idea where you get your statistics from

  • Hi, the statistics come from ADRA sources. Even if ONLY 36% that means that something needs to be done to help in Peru - and so many other people in so many other countries. That is where ADRA and organisations like it comes in.

  • The figure of 50% is now recognised as wrong - the video is a few years old. The reduction MAY reflect the work of NGO's in the country. A quote from ADRA in April 2010 is this, Almost half the population is poor, significantly higher in the rural areas, and 20 percent are classed as extremely poor. In the urban areas poverty is the most unequal. More than 39 percent of the total population and two thirds of the rural population in Peru live below the poverty line."

  • @thelonelyspanishboy Less than 30% now

  • regardless of the info's accuracy, 36% is still a large number worth addressing. I am also Peruvian, it's undeniable that poverty exists, and i'm glad that community development initiatives are taking place. Most of us shouldn't be in a position of judgment unless we are engaged in ending poverty ourselves. Let's not devalue their work or label it as colonial imposition. How many people in the 1st world take action like this group does and care what happens to the rest of the world?

  • this video is such a lie. i am from peru and we do not have 50% extreme poverty. We are a very poor country but however, now in 2009 Peru has a poverty rate of about 36%, where in that 13% is extremely poor.

I am very proud to be a Peruvian and I hope that the best happens to it.

  • God bless you - and I hope your journey back to Peru this year is really enjoyable

  • I thankyou, and I hope God guides and bless you too. I hope you also have the opportunity to go to Peru :)x

  • ....upset of the poverty, i know there are places, countries can be worse but it would mean a lot if anyone helps to make a better world.

I am teen, and this year after 5 years of living the UK am coming back to visit my country, is going to by wield journey to understand it better than use to it before. Thanks for sharing this video Peteradvent

    PeRuViAn BlOoD & PROUD

  • So sorry to hear of your sadness. God cares - wish I could help more. I'm forwarding your comment to ADRA who run some development work in Peru.

  • yup im from usa i went there and its really poor because they stole our gold

  • I am from Peru and I stayed only 4 days in New York and they stole my wallet and all my cash.

  • wow you europeans are the greatest;all you have done was rot the americas

  • i am from peru and i know that there is poverty overthere. the ucayali river is an amazing and beautiful place with thousand and thousands of types of birds. but also there are some villages, and people who live in the past, and they do not know technology. good bless you guys because you have done an amazing work. do not feel scared because as you see them they do NOT have hiv or any other disease, but lack of information make kids play in the dirty water of the river, and that make them sick.

  • Thank you for your positive comment. I would love to go to Peru some day

  • I'm sorry you feel so hurt. However we are all equal in God's eyes and we shouldn't judge one another - so lets just recognise that we all need to help one another

  • WHATS ADRA

  • ADRA - is an agency which cares for people around the world. The letters stand for Adventist Development and Relief Agebcy. The aim is to help people with long term needs around the world. Is this enough for you? Please feel free to ask more

  • they had an empire, very wealth and rich they were until the europeans went to Peru and took it all. Hurt all the generations after their colonization.

  • Though I am no specialist - I agree that a desire for an emire ended up making great nations poor (economically as well as in other ways) and changed cultures as well, that doesn't mean we don't have a responsibilty to help - especially when we are asked to help - as is the case with ADRA.

  • i am not a specialist but i can give you some information on the fact that they are "no poor in many ways" but the poor ones and hungry for money and lack of culture were the europeans. They were and are ppl full of their OWN culture. And the poberty (monetary) is nothing less than the consequences of a cruel invasion and theft from the part of the european

  • I am not a specialist but I can tell you about the Inca empire, an empire full of cultre and resources until the europeans came and destroyed the civilization. Their poberty today is nothing else than the result of european colonization. You think ppl forget the way they slaved the indians? the way they skinned the indians alive if they denied Jesus? You think they forget who their limbs were pull by horses for not converting? How they were hanged from trees?

  • why don't you tell your people to give back what they took? how funny know to see a european wanting to help after what they did. what is your purpose now? impose your religion? why are you helping? nobody needs your help, its hypocritical help.

what about all the damage they have done to LatinAmerica and NorthAmerica indians? how easy you think we forget, no way. Keep your help to yourself, we don't want you.

  • they would be very stupid if they ever get to trust a european again. What is next? the gas?

First time you took the gold and silver.

What is next? the land or maybe the natural gas? if you think there is nothing there, why are you going? europeans do not help, actually all they want is something either land or natural resources or conversion. Unfortunately they are very naive but too many people know what your REAL intentions are. History repeats itself.

  • You want conversion, that is your purpose.

  • Dang dang! so much water! so much wealth! I wish tamil nadu has atleast a quarter of the water they have. We have to rely solely on IT exports and manufacturing for our income. I wish it rains a bit more here otherwise tamil nadu is doomed to be a desert.

    -A water starved tamil.

  • Wonderful, Peter!
