  • WOW !!!

  • Theres an old Koehring short wood harvester sitting along the side of the road in Boisetown New Brunswick

  • @Dakotaboy318 Thanks! I have had a few guys mention that now, it would be pretty neat to go see it some day. must be something to drive by it, especially if you werent expecting it.

  • I remember going by on the school bus when I was a kid and seeing 3 of those machines parked at the mill in Boiestown. I don't know where the other 2 went to but that is the 3rd one across from the museum. A friend of mine at work drove one back in the 70s for Bob Neil, he said they were quite a machine for the time.19 years ago a guy from StAndrews way somewhere had a couple of them that were like bunchers here and cut wood in the area, I think his name was Rolly Wadingham.

  • Hey I owned 1 KFF and a K3FF I contracted for Miramichi Pulp& paper

I have some video off those biste they where a big machine for shure

  • @Euc9 you should post those vids. I have never seen a video of those things working. did you check out the link in the video description? lots of pics of old Koehrings

  • I used to operate the older KFF then later the K3FF.

It was one of the best jobs I had, except for getting stuck in the mud for 3 days one time.

I had several videos of the K3 with 20-25 cords of full tree hardwood loaded on, but can't find them anywhere. If I ever find them , I'll post them.

It is really nice to see some info of these on here though.

I recognise the pictures of the old K2FF rusted in NB.

They are from the owner I was working for.

  • @perdean Is that parked along RT 8,around Doaktown?I remember seeing something like this around there

  • @chuck738 No, the K2FF was beside Route 1 in the St Andrews area. I believe they had it moved when they began construction work on the highway last year.

The one in Boiestown is across the road from the woodsmen museum. It's one of the first short wood harvesters around. I'm not positive where it came from ,although there was a contractor named Bob Neal who had quite a variety of Koehrings around the 1970's. It's likely one of his machine's , but I'm not sure about that. I'll ask around though.

  • @perdean I never kneww there was one out St Andrews. They were an interesting machine,if a little ahead of the times.

  • @perdean I found out the one in Boiestown was working for IPP in the Newcasthe area before it went on display at the museum.

  • @perdean

I actually have a picture of that machine just after it was parked at the museum, it was owned by NBIP (I'm guessing that IPP is the same company, different name). I also have pics of a few of NBIP machines in the bush. they are all on the flikr site.

the one by Rt 1, I also beleive that I have a picture of it on there as well.

Nice to see other people interested in this stuff too.

  • awesome pictures, they used to run that stuff here in maine

  • Great video, very intresting to se this old machines !!!

  • Well, they sell cheap. a guy i know just bought a K4loader forwarder, K525 loader, and a 440 loader forwarder from my local pulp mill for a total bill of $10 000- for all three!. the problem with these machines is that they are so heavy- not to mention huge that they leave ruts 3 feet deep everyhwere; and when they get stuck, they get STUCK. too bad to. If you want to you can check my flikr page for more pics and specs on some of these machines

  • Man I really appreciate this. I run a small logging operation and have always looked for good running old machines like those. Some outfits like Koehring were way ahead of their time. I just sold my 1982 Drott 40 tilthouse buncher I used on plantation pine. I may end up with a mchine like one of these in the video one day!
