Djazza. This tank has no surface as its a box ao there is no water movement to put oxygen into the water. So you need an air stone to pump o2 into it. If you pump in c02 carbon dioxide they will slowly suffocate to death as only during the day the plants put o2 into the water at night they put co2 in instead.

The fish are at the top because there dying, this tank setup is all wrong DO NOT copy this tank unless you like dead fish. Its too small for the fish in it and also the fish that are in it should NOT be gasping oxygen from the top of the tank.
i have this tank too its beautiful. If i could just give u some advice though, your tank is overstocked a bit and a male betta is not suitable for a tank like this as it need more air space at the top (u could tell as he keeps swimming to the gap)

i wonder what that tank looked like, like two months later when the plants in the forground died because of the crappy, way to weak bulbs in the hood...Well gues that´s why there is now "Fluval Edge after 2 months" ^^
Where did you get the Slate to setup your aquarium like that? It looks great. Is it just ordinary rock or something you've had to buy specially, like a plastic decoration?

Is your Betta still alive? I work in a german pet shop and i arranged a lot of these tanks till now. I never advise my costumers to keep Bettas in the Edge tank cause the surface is 70% closed and the Bettas are not able to breath air in it.
@grewnd33 yes, actually i DO know what im talking about. bettas are antabanoids meaning that they are labyrinth fish who need to breath air to live. a fluval edge does not have enough air surface for a betta to be happy. also, bettas dont become more colorful the more they are happy idiot. do YOU know what YOUR talking about? Lovely tank. really like the layout. im setting up a nano reef fluval edge and cant work out how to make my new mr11 leds waterproof, did you use clingfilm on yours? does that not melf after you've had the lights on for long periods of time?
OMG i have the same fish's as you do... i have one beta and some guppies but they all died because my beta killed them :( how does your beta not kill or bite your guppies???
@KidFrom106 well it depends on the betta. if he's friendly, theres a chance he wont attack them. if he's aggressive, he will kill them (unless there females)
get the betta out because they are antabanoids which are air breathers.... there isnt enough space in a fluval edge for him to breathe therefore he will die....
@Suravo just because he is alive dosent mean hes happy, trust me i know what im talking about. its like being trapped under ice with only a little hole to breath from, they like to be at the surface constantly, do what u want with your fish but just realize its for your own selfish pleasure.

Also why are you pumping ini CO2 in a tank that small, thats why the fish are looking for O2 at the surface there suffocating due to the CO2 content.
