The father and the mother both committed the same offence. They travelled with their children to another country against a court order. Same offence, different headline in the newspaper, and completely different tone in the body of the text The reply stated:
"Only in exceptional circumstances a complaint from a third party may be investigated should the Commission consider that a significant issue involving the public interest is raised.the Commissioners do not find your complaint raises such an issue under the Code."
Obviously the fate of 45000 fathers who loose all contact with their children every year is not considered a significant issue. It is according to the press acceptable to present a mother as a heroine and a father as a child snatcher.

Furthermore, feminism means that women and men should have EQUAL rights, not that women are better than men in any way. The stereotype that women cook and clean and take care of children while men go be the breadwinners is a hunter-gatherer philosophy that worked then because men were physically stronger obviously. In today's culture, in which the majority of jobs do not involve hard physical labor, who's to say that women cannot do the same job as a man?

Also, has it ever occurred to you that not many people had degrees (not sure whether you mean high school or college) in the early 1900s? Even so, there's nothing in the constitution that prohibits voting based on a lack of education, so up until 1919 as long as you were a white male of voting age, you could be as uneducated as you wanted to be and still vote. Any prohibition against women voting was simply rooted in discrimination and treatment of women as second-class citizens.

I think you've completely missed the point of feminism. Feminism isn't about forcing women to work if they don't have to. However, since most women aren't upper middle class or wealthy, and since there is always the risk of a housewife's husband divorcing her and leaving her with kids and no job, work become a necessity. When it is necessary for women to work, which it often is for working class women, Feminism argues that equal pay for equal work is necessary. Sigh...

Im a feminist and im fine with women who want to be housewives, I just want women to have opportunities to choose if that's what they want, and not be forced by society to stay in the home. Also, has it ever occurred to you that not many people had degrees (not sure whether you mean high school or college) in the early 1900s? Even so, there's nothing in the constitution that prohibits voting based on a lack of education, so up until 1919 as long as you were a white male of voting age, you could be as uneducated as you wanted to be and still vote. Any prohibition against women voting was simply rooted in discrimination and treatment of women as second-class citizens.

I think you've completely missed the point of feminism. Feminism isn't about forcing women to work if they don't have to. However, since most women aren't upper middle class or wealthy, and since there is always the risk of a housewife's husband divorcing her and leaving her with kids and no job, work become a necessity. When it is necessary for women to work, which it often is for working class women, Feminism argues that equal pay for equal work is necessary. Sigh...

Feminism implies freedom from male domination, so you have the RIGHT to choose to be a housewife/mom but to say that other women should value that choice and by not they are somehow misguided is laughable...clearly she spends more time in front of a mirror than a book.
