Honestly, Apple cannot compare to Cowon and S:flo2. They are true Audio Players at heart. Their very customizable EQ just leaves me speechless. I can make my IEMs sound like a whole different/better In Ear. Apple is mainly there for the Apps and Wifi. That is where the Cowon D3 steps in and nearly becomes the iTouch killer. Very close. The only thing missing is a High Quality Camera for the back of the MP3 player.
This is for the audiophile. Apple Fanboys don't care for audio quality. They care for looks. Cowon is for audiophiles... this is a fantastic MP3 Player. I had a Creative X-FI2... which was good... but was fragile and didn't last. COwon is a nice compact size, yet tough.

@lostintimeline What makes it a superb media player is the fact that it has many different equalizers to pick from and customize, and has a low amount of hiss and the ability to drive higher impedance headphones. You also get the benefits of playing OGG and FLAC files if you're into that compared to only WMA lossless on the zune, (not a big deal just fyi)

@KaeseNachos ipod touch is overall better because of the apps, wifi, and apple support. you can get better sound quality if you use LOD + portable amp. the reason i prefer the J3 is because i don't use apps often, and to remove the hassle of adding a portable amp and LOD just to produce better sound quality. also, i like the external buttons on the J3 especially the pause/play/rewind/fastforward buttons as they are really useful while walking/commuting.

When its all said and done, if you cant live without iTunes, and apps and you are comfortable with pretty bad sound quality (I didn't know i was listening to crappy sound until I purchased the Cowon D2 and even then I though MP3's sound good until I experienced Flac) surfing the web taking pictures etc then by all means get a iPod. If you are like most normal people and have a iPhone or Android and simply want a device to play music and videos with top of the line quality with CONTROL get the J3
Yes i went through withdrawal syndrome from iTunes and Apple's ecosystem yet as any recovering addict will tell you it was the best decision of my life. since then i graduated from the D2 to the S9 and now I have the J3 note its been 3 years and still have the D2 and S9 is still in perfect working order. @kewlklutzklan First of all when youre out to buy a music player the first question you should always ask is how good it sounds, everything else is minor in comparison. Second of all the touch does not suck and is not unresponsive... i will give you a free lesson since you dont know how to use the words. the issue with the interface has nothing to do with touch capabilities but rather flash capabilities. The device uses flashui whitch IS sluggish, that has NOTHING to do with touch response..
i am seriously considering getting this. Just 2 questions if anyone can answer that'd be great:
1) Is the touch screen as good as the ipod touch (in terms of responsiveness - i'm not sure if it's just me, but it looks like there's a bit of a delay on the J3)
2) Is there a function to disable the auto-tilt - without any weird mods or jailbreaking or w/e? (this is the very reason why I'm ditching my touch as I hate auto-tilt)

I bought this, because I love music and the dynamics, detail and stereo imaging on this were far superior to the Ipod. The Ipod doesn't even support Flac. Never found much use for wifi when I'm climbing, running, cycling or even catching the bus!

In fact, instead of improving the sound quality of their Ipods, they use the money on publicity. I have read countless reviews comparing the Ipods to the Cowons and they all say Cowon has way better sound. Of course, some will prefer to have good extras instead of having good quality sound. So don't make publicity for Ipod by comparing it to another product that you know nothing about.
When i watched that movie, the only sentence i can say is that it has the same price but 32GB as iPod touch and probably only the sound quality is better here. iPod Touch hah the rest. The only thing in which the ipod is better is the interface. Apple is know for its good and intuitive interfaces, cowon not so much.
The speed will be almost the same. Most of the ipod's functions(apps) are gimmicks and have nothing to do with being a mp3 player .You wouldn't buy a book because it can toast marshmellows, you buy it because it is a good book.
Don't forget the extra memory you can add and the 64h battery life and knowing that you won't look like a douche holding it.

When i watched that movie, the only sentence i can say is that it has the same price but 32GB as iPod touch and probably only the sound quality is better here. iPod Touch hah the rest. Speed, functions, screen sensitivity. I have iPod Touch but I don't like its sound quality and probably I'll take smaller Cowon becouse the bigger really sucks

The only thing in which the ipod is better is the interface. Apple is know for its good and intuitive interfaces, cowon not so much.
The speed will be almost the same. Most of the ipod's functions(apps) are gimmicks and have nothing to do with being a mp3 player .You wouldn't buy a book because it can toast marshmellows, you buy it because it is a good book.
Don't forget the extra memory you can add and the 64h battery life and knowing that you won't look like a douche holding it.
