  • There is so much to know about this car and love. It's such an amazing car.

In contrast, there is little that can be said for the Xsara. It is not really a Citroen. It is not really a car in the true sense. Nothing to raise the pulse at all. No excitement. Its a Dodo.

CX though - Is it the last great true Citroen? Or does that title belong to the ZX?

    Respect.

  • @phwaff

Xsara does well for daily use.

ZX last great Citroën? Then I preffer the Xsara.

Of did you mean XM? That would make more sense to me ;-)

  • @arjanverkade It was always going to be a controversial statement, I know.

The ZX is very well made and has an excellent suspension system incorporating passive rear wheel steer and no computers.

XM although wonderful in most respects was not well made and became expensive to run. AND, and I mean it...I felt cheated that they didn't put the self-centre steering system on the British XMs...and why not go the extra mile and fit steering headlamps like the DS?

  • @phwaff

Good point about the Diravi, that's a problem we don't have on the old V6 models. Only on the new V6.24

Well you could always just buy a CX :-)

  • @phwaff As an ex ZX owner, its too normal to be that last greatest citroen

  • @peugeotpeteable Maybe, but it has so many quirks: single front wiper, passive rear wheel steering, amazing suspension geometry that just soaks up the bumps better than anything else with coil springs and dampers! Long overhang in front of the front wheels, squashy door handles (like the CX series1), Low down driving position, flicking speedometer needle etc, etc! AND it corners like the lovely GSA model it replaced...

  • Love the car. The CX I mean.

The black door handles and trim really add to the look. It's very stylish.

    These are getting rare now.

    - a little CX trivia - The indicator switch actually switches in two stages: a light touch is all that is needed for changing lanes on the motorway. The switch then springs back on its own.

If you press it harder the switch will stay on until you switch it off.

You switch it off with a lighter touch than was needed to switch it on. Make sense?

  • @phwaff

Thanks, I like the zilver / black look as well.

That's how the indicator works, when you are used to it it works fine :)

  • did u sell it?

  • @subzero92MK

No I am still enjoying the CX! :D

Not as an daily driver, I have the gray Xsara for daily use.

  • @arjanverkade ah that's it, u have to keep it, historic cars are masterpieces ;)

  • Amazing car and great photography!

  • @mdsmith75

    Thanks!

  • awesme, i am kind off noob for asking this, but can you drive the car when it is in the low posision or do you have to rise it up???

  • @slettemann

You are not the first one to ask me this question ;-)

You cannot really drive the car in the low posision. The is to take te pressure of the hydrolic system. The car will sit on rubbers. But you can move it if needed.

For normal driving you will alway use the normal position.

  • nice car

  • TURBO!

  • I heard Carlos Santana possess a few of them

  • citroen used to make such interesting cars now they make boring cars

  • It looks great. Congrats:)

  • @czubax

    Thanks!

  • Citroen is one of my favorite car companies. Daring designs, amazing technical innovations, the pioneer of FWD cars in Europe (along with Peugeot and Renault)...the list is endless. Citroen is a respectable car company. Always has been, always will be. It's sad to see so many "car enthusiasts" outside of Europe hate on French cars. I currently drive a 2007 BMW 118i, but my next car will either be a Citroen C5 or a Citroen C4. I just adore those cool and functional designs.

  • That's a very cool looking CX :) Congratulations on it!

I'm going for a EU control tomorrow to see if my XM D12 2.1TD Break can be cleared for road driving :) I have a leak still in the hydraulics somewhere near the engine. Just got one big leak fixed, but there is still a leak I see, and it's dripping fast :( I hope they find and fix it so I can have it working perfectly :D It's quite fast too, so I'll be making a video to show the acceleration :)

  • @SpeedFreakNO

    Thanks :-)

Good luck with the XM. We will see the video when it's ready.

  • @arjanverkade No luck today. Still a leak in the hydraulics fluid system, only a hose though. But also some slack in the steering system, which will cost a little more to fix, so a few weeks still. Then hopefully :)

  • @arjanverkade

just over 200000 miles bloody hell!

  • @666RiffsOfDeth666

    It's km's of course ;-)

In the mean time I am over 225.000.

  • love it! is it reliable?

  • @xXGreyWolf

Yes, but a CX does need lot of attention. But for me that's part of the hobby ;-)

  • @arjanverkade totaly worth it take good care of it!

  • Any trouble with the damping and suspension? I have to service my cx every 10000 miles orso.

  • @nurttkind

I have no problems with the hydrolics at the moment. Some rusty pipes have been replaced when I bought the CX. Also both rear spheres have been replaced.

After this only new LHM oil and clean the filters each 2 years, but this is normal maintanace.

  • @arjanverkade

great, whats the milage you make every year?

i'm considering buying a new one, a prestige build in 86 i wonder if its just my cx that has the trouble

  • song is: DJ JOSE : STEPPING TO THE BAET ;) nice car and song

  • I had a 1986 CX GTi 2.5 non-turbo, only thing was I had to drive almost 100 miles to get it serviced...they Federalized some in the 80's but as far as I know they don't anymore...loved that car.

  • fascinating car man. They only sold citroens in the States in the 70s and in very limited quantities. Something different which is cool. Thanks for posting!

  • @masterjedi89

    Your welcome ;-)

I am glad you liked my litte film.

The CX in the US is very rare. Its a shame, it is a very nice car the drive as well.

  • so why the wheel change at 0.18... winter tyres fitted?

  • @trident3b

When I just bought the CX one of the 2 front TRX tyres had some damage. Here in the Netherlands it is not legal to drive with a tyre like that. So I had those 2 rimms at the front for safety. A few weeks later (from point 0.25) I had 4 original Turbo wheels and the CX met all the requirements for the Dutch laws. I have sold the other wheels ;-)

  • superb sight,colour right,video also decorous,nicer model than i remembered..Only bx-touch so far by myself.

  • It's a very beautiful car :)

I want one that is dark, dark blue (navy blue) probably, and and some new rims, not originals, more low profile tires :) But otherwise, original :) And dark windows though, too bad all windows aren't allowed to be dark in Norway.

  • @SpeedFreakNO

    Thanks!

Good luck to find a good one! :-)

    They are still out there.

  • Heel veel mooi CX! :) Nice song! :)

  • wonderful car man! take very good care of it! I wish I had one....

  • @backpackerable Thanks, I will!

  • Sehr gut!

  • fantastisch! CX-en blijven favoriet bij me.
