  • What album is this song on? I have Sophtware Slump, Sumday, and am about to get Concrete Dunes. I haven't found them on any of the track listings! :(

  • @Scatterbrain191 it's on none of these EPs, it's an unreleased track

  • realy espectacular

this is the kind of sci-fi that i' like

not battleships and dusty planets. But,pure humanism

  • @decoreh Grandady are a great band, not heard this though

  • I wish I knew who disliked this video. I feel like laughing at that person. Ridiculing them. Dumb fool.

  • 2.22: Arcade Fire took so much from this vocal tune.... Just listen their song "Rebellion (lies)"

  • Christo's banana gordo - how can any of you twats have the fucking nerve to criticise anything from Grandaddy or Jason Lytle? You fucking idiots.

  • RIP Grandaddy

  • I miss this band like a close friend I never get to see anymore. I going to build a time machine and travel back to 2000 so I can see them live one last time. Anyone else want to come?

  • @smasher1138 Make it 2003 and call me in on it!

  • @smasher1138 Make it 2003 and call me in on it!

  • this is one of my top five favorite songs of all time. this video is absolutely beautiful.

  • Anyone else notice that the sketch girl's pigtails are behind her shoulders from the front, but in front of her shoulders from behind?

  • where can you get this version of this track?

  • This version is so much better than the one on the actual album.

  • Wow I just noticed your comments. Of course Grandaddy would have been nothing without Jason Lytle. Of course he made most of the work. But the point is no one else of the band was involved in "Just Like the Fambly Cat", I mean they didn't even play the songs of the album!

Btw. I've listened to Lytle's album, and I liked it. But it won't make me forget Under the Western Freeway, The Sophtware Slump or The Broken Down Comforter Collection

  • @muechenliebtmich Just to add, Sophtware Slump was produced and recorded almost solely by Jason.

  • El tema y el video son tan mágicos como un sueño!!!

  • Wow, I've been listening to Grandaddy for years..and this is the first time I've heard this song..its just so beautiful. This video suits it well, somehow.

  • Grandaddy were always a very underrated band, i have to admit when i first heard them i wasnt too moved but gradually their music grew on me and I found myself collecting every record they done, they had a habit of producing lost gems such as this..

  • i don't know what you are smoking Jason Lytle is one of the most talented songwriters

    he gets my vote

  • Amazing amazing amazing, the video and the audio are ideal.

  • I still prefer "he's simple, he's dumb, he's the pilot" to this one, but "fare thee not well mutineer" is quite awesome too, probably their 2nd best in my opinion.

It's really sad this band collapsed, and i'm afraid Jason Lytle won't be up to my expectations... I've listened his myspace... I found it poor compared to the great job accomplished by Grandaddy. At least as poor as was their last album (just like the fambly cat) with the awful "rearviewing mirror".

    They produced so beautiful songs...

  • I think the last album was a big mistake. To me it sounds overproduced, way too "polished". I heard Jason Lytle made it almost alone and didn't let the other members take part in the process. A sad end actually. I don't expect much of his solo album...

  • disagree

  • @muechenliebtmich Everything Beautiful Is Far Away is a masterpice

  • I disagree. Maybe Grandaddy's last album doesn't have what "he's simple he's dumb, he's the pilot" has, but I think rear view mirror is great in it's own way. And what about most other songs: summer it's gone, where i'm anymore, or (the acoustic version) jeez louise, guide down denied, campershell dreams and this is how it almost starts. ALL GREAT SONGS!!! I don't know about his new album, but I guess we have to listen to it for a while before we can give our opinion.

  • Jason Lytle WAS grandaddy. He wrote/played it all. Also... Rear View Mirror was an awesome song in my opinion. But, at least we agree on one thing... this song is totally cool.

  • @TMoriss one man's 'poor' is another man's 'inspiring'..(rear view mirror- best grandaddyesque guitar solo eva)

  • @flyingpurpledragon I've changed my mind since then. I bought "Just like the Fambly cat", but also the solo albums "Excerpt from the Diary of Todd Zilla" which is great, "yours truly, the commuter" which is awesome, and finally the Ad Rad "I heart California" which is different, but still excellent.

  • my favorite song probably

  • It would nice if Grandaddy released this particular version of the song.

  • mamma mia che bella questa canzone!!

  • Thanks Liebtmich! I appreciate the linx. =)

  • wow

  • Why do all of granddaddy's videos have to be so powerfully beautiful and awesome? i loved this video and the song as well.

  • Where can I DL this? Itunes doesn't sell it. =(

  • I will never stop lovin' this band more then any other... I'm really waiting for Jason's solo album, I think it will be great.

  • @sterbus79 You know Radiohead right? Just when you say "you will never stop lovin' this band more than any other". Radiohead is my number 1 and Grandaddy is number 2 for me.

  • Great song and video. Reminds me a bit of Bowie's Major Tom/Space oddity. This is brilliant in its own right. I heart this.

  • This Band may be gone...But always stays atop of the pile of indie groups that remained in a league of their own!!!!!

    Lytle..Great Job...GD..were gunna miss you!

  • I love how the little magnetic board has "Everything Beautiful is Far Away" on it... another one of my fav Grandaddy tunes, and nice hidden homage.

  • *orgasm*

  • I haven't heard this track (one of few I've missed) so great to hear.

  • holy shit. Not only is this one of the best songs of all time, this video is awesome.

  • so good

  • I love it...

  • This video is also in the I'm on standby singls. (The one with the volcano on it)

  • Grandaddy, I love you and I love your music.

  • this is serious bad-ass

  • wow thanks for sharing this!

    I made a grandaddy video too- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDjFvJa2jxc

  • They played this video before their encore on their 2003 tour. This is some bad-ass shit.
