  • this music is awesome,i try to practice so much with my guitar

  • Can't seem to reply to anyone...

@Adol - The modern versions of Ys and Sora No Kiseki have not been brought over. >=/

  • (This is to nicely share only please don't spam this) I just uploaded the Ys opening!!! :D It's awesome.

  • OMG AWESOMMEEEEEE!!!!

    YS 4EVER!!!

  • I was gonna buy this in the store but I changed my mind at the last second. lol

I was worried I'd get it home and not like it. I love rpgs though, espically Final Fantasy. So I was just wondering if I made a mistake and this game is really good afterall. lol

  • This game is very good. You should have bought it while you had the chance lol. From what I've seen, they're really rare now. In fact, living in the Green Bay area, I drove around to the like six game stores, and found only one copy of this game.

  • @ChibiRini1 it's AWESOME! EPIC AWESOME! I have finished Book I and am "working" aka STUCK on Book II but LOVE the series AND the Anime!

  • You don't know what your missing out on =U, as Falcom is one of the biggest PC gaming franchises around and Ys in a way is a hands-on version of FF.

I'd like to also add that out of the current Eight Chapters (including Origins), books 1 and 2 are the ONLY one's in Engrish.

I'm not sure you understand just how rare that is as Falcom has NEVER had it's games legally translated as its Japanese only, and you wouldn't believe how many people import the game even without understanding any of it

  • @HiryuIIIV Ys 1 came out in english for the Sega master System in english. Ys 1 came out for PC DOS in english way back when in like the 80s. Both Ys 1 and 2 came out for the Turbo Graphics in English. Ys VI was Translated to english for both PS2 and PSP. Wanders from Ys(3) came out in english for the Snes. Every Ys game has been Licenced and translated to english except 4,5. YS 7 comes out in acouple weeks. Also Sorcerian came out for PC DOS in enflish. Get your Facts straight

  • @HiryuIIIV Also Three Legend of Heros games(psp) and Gurumin(psp)

  • yay atlus is awsome go atlus i loved etrian odyssey woooo go atlus..................

  • I haven't heard much about the progression of the storyline for this >:V It seems to have ended with Ys VI.

Anyone know if theres some tid-bit of info on what the next generation of Ys will be.

  • it continued with the ps2 game ark of Napistim, which I must say was a really well made game

  • Comment removed

  • I've heard Ys is one of those godly games alongside other legends like Lufia 2 and Chrono Trigger...I ought to try this.

  • think of "Ys" as the origin of awesome action RPGs and amazing soundtracks. You will not be displeased with this series. After all it's legendary for a reason.

  • Comment removed

  • nice xD

  • i just bought this game today

  • they say this is in ps2 as well I seen it in game stop 5 months ago

  • Ys VI ark of napishtem is on PS2 (which is also an awesome game) and it is also very rare.

  • awesome but rare .......? .......damn it

  • you'd do best to special order it or search online as I was lucky enough to get a new copy at F.Y.I. but since then I have not seen another one anywhere (this was roughly 2 years ago) and if you do get it you'd best put in the cheats to play it with jpn content anime cutscenes (the Konami CG is the worst thing i've ever seen made CG) and jpn voices.

  • you lost me when when you spoke about FYI whats that im not a high tech person sorry but please do tell me ^^

  • oh sorry. it's those guys that took over the mediaplay chain of stores just think of it as a really big media outlet where they sell a lot of stuff (though they still aren't as good as the specialty stores) related to media and they frequently somehow have rare games. Although they don't always have the games it just seems like they have it more often than other stored. I got Y's VI and Steambot Chronicles from them and they were both at the time super rare.

  • I saw these games in game stop in NEW YORK

  • ah well that's why over here in Utah we don't get rare games very often but it sounds like New York is a different story. Anyway it seems you get rare games over there more often than others so I highly recommend buying it when you see it as they stopped production on the game disks a long time ago and they didn't make that many in the first place. Hence the term super rare.

  • ok thank you very much um do you have it?

  • of course.

  • thats good I was going to tell you that you should get it In new york

  • heh no rare game escapes my sights.

  • how about .hack gu 3?

  • been waitin for it from gamefly for some time now but they keep sendin me somethin else cuz they usually don't have it but I here that it's wicked sick and if I like it enough I'll buy it.

lol I guess you could call me a rare hunter as I stumble upon awesome but rare games when they stop production on it.

speaking of which you should try

Persona 3 & 4 and the Ar Tonelico series if you haven't yet they're really good and you should also try the Mana Khemia and Sakura Wars comes out in November.

  • they have .hack gu 3 in New York in the bronx for $20.00 its used but it totally work theres only like 5 in New York but I strongely dont think they have in brooklyn so do even thing about it only place possible is in mahatten, and bronx in 173 street mall in game stop across some bridge but please do be careful

  • I may be a rare hunter but going to New York from Utah is kinda extreme for me.

  • yeah thats understandable

  • that game is awesome i already have vol.1 2 and 3 and all finished.

  • yeah! lol

  • Volume three you say? Would that be The Ark of Napishtim or something else?

  • Wanderers from Ys.

    The series goes...

Ys Book I and II (two games in Japan)

    Ys III: Wanderers from Ys

Ys IV: Dawn of Ys (Mask of the sun was noncanon for SNES)

    Ys V

    Ys VI Ark of Napishtim

and then technically Ys Origin which was a prequel to I and II.

Oath in Felghana was a PS2 remake of III, but designed to play like VI.

  • Ah, cheers for the intel. It is muchly appreciated!

  • Anytime, I have a majority of the music, and this was my first introduction to RPGs, so needless to say, I am a huge fan of the series.

  • Ah yeah, you never forget your first game of a certain Genre. It usually sucks you right into the series as well. Anyhow, thanks once more dude.

  • lol i luv this song

  • this was a psp game in japan, why the heck is coming for the ds?, what about the license, its a great game on psp japan, and they also added soundtrack cds in the release there, for ds im sure itll be modified and censored, i hate this.

  • geek

  • still have no idea if i should add this to my atlus collection

  • Buy it, but don't add it to your Atlus collection, add it to your Falcom collection.

  • ok i'll make afalcom collection

  • I like how there's absolutely no gameplay footage in this trailer =P

  • can some one tell me is this game worth buying?

  • i would say get it because it is diffrent and quite hard at some parts. think of the game as age of empires but with dragons and stuff. :D

  • this is is ultra hard...if you miss a part in a game then you'd be screwed bc they wouldnt tell you what to do again..or sometimes they let you figure out...wich is also hard bc sometimes its just pretty impossibe to even figure it out

  • Thx alot

  • lol im still stuck.....yea no problem =)

  • Personally I'd like to see the Dragon Warrior games make a comeback. Dragon Warrior I on the NES is the first video game I ever played, I declared Japanese RPG's the best and never looked back. 20 years later and Still some of my favorite games.

  • YS is definitely the one started all RPG's as we know now.(EXCEPT DUNGEON TYPES)

Dragon slayer series, also called Legend of Heroes after 6, is another big series.

There was another be series names XAK. In my opinion, ALL series of 3 should be remade.

I wonder if anyone remembers Dragon Quest series, the one got killed by Final Fantasy series..

  • Dragon Quest isn't dead. In Japan from what I understand it's actually bigger than Final Fantasy. It didn't have quite the following here, but Dragon Quest 8 on the PS2 still a fine entry none-the-less. The Dragon Quest remakes are slowly coming to the DS now. We have DQ5 on the DS. Though oddities, DQ Swords and DQ Monsters are on Wii and DS respectively, and both decent.

  • You certaintly haven't played DQ Swords. It's really, really bad, comparing it to DQ8. I mean, yeah it's good that we're able to use the wii to attack but... there's no RPG there! It's just you moving automatically for a lot of places and killing enemies that appears in your way. And they always appear in the same place! And it's really fast to finish! It was like Castlevania: Judgement for Wii, both of them shouldn't have changed their game style. It was a mistake.

  • IT was just a spin-off game to make use of the Wii controls. I'd consider it a test game.

  • @Armedwolf6 can you explain this game contains YS I and II remaked?

  • atlus.... always make... a super nice game....

  • Falcom originally made this one, as nice as the game is Atlus cannot take the full credit, they are just doing some of the publishing and hopefully localization. (Like Konami did with Ys VI The Ark of Napishtim)

  • In the y's games after 2 do you still play as adol????

  • yes Adol is the main char for all ys games except origins

  • does this game have a connection with ysorigin?

  • Atlus on behalf of your American fans:

    Thank you.

  • This version of To Make The End of Battle is awesome!

  • Definitely picking this up when I get the change. I want to try the Ys series.

  • we all agree that the music is awesome..

    but..

CAN SOME ONE TELL MEAH THE NAME PLX ?! :D

    thankx <3

  • Its called ~ To make the end of the battle by Falcom JDK.

  • Sick music!

  • Ys Book I & II had being released on PC, PS2, Turbo CD, Wii Virtual Console and for the first time ever a handheld remake for the Nintendo DS. Now I could take my two favorite RPGs with me on the road as well as at home.

  • this music sounds like something that would be in a castlevania game

  • i want this game on DS as well it looks like they realy added lots of new stuff to it and it still has that SV who was locked up in that jail

  • what site can i get this game

  • i would guess wal-mart when it comes out.

  • go to amazon or the damn store, lol

  • uh...i already have both games fantranslated on my computer, so now they do a official release?

  • I already have the TG16 version on my wii, your point is? I'm still going to get this game for the hope that they might actually bring over the other 8 sequels that haven't been fan translated.

  • Ys Books 1 and 2 remade AGAIN whooooo!

I've played 3 different versions of these games and enjoyed them all.

  • There's a 20 year old version you can download on the Wii's Virtual Console. Its a little dated, but has incredible music for the time (CD quality)

  • i got that one on wii:)

  • this game looks awesome, I am going to get it even if I got to sell blood for it

  • I've never played any of the Ys games... I remember seeing some (... maybe just one) on the SNES. I never gave them a shot though... anyone have a good opinion based on gameplay and such?

  • The gameplay is pretty much the-legend-of-zelda alike, except that it is far superior. Pretty fun too. The story-line is epic, basically the story starts in book 1 and ends in book 2. However there are several other games of the series that tells the story, post book1, and between book 1 and 2. You level up, and get to use magic, the usual stuff. It's very fun, and addictive. This game is certainly a must for those who never played it, and a treasure for those who played the original one.

  • 2more weeks... :D

  • I played this back on the turbografx cd. Awesome and must play.

  • hehe I liked both the super nintendo and playstation 2 versions that came out in America. I hope this is just as good.

  • and at least this time they kept the original animation in unlike a certain game company that localized ark of Napishtem. man I can't believe I had to get a cheat code for the original jap voices and animation.

  • awesome soundtrack awesome gameplay awesome characters...one of the greatest RPG series to ever grace our green earth is back.

    HELL YEAH!!!

  • Is this game good? Ok i might be stupid but i never heard of it :S

  • It's only one of the oldest and best rpg series everrrrrr

  • Well then i have to try it since RPG is my fav type of game!!!!

  • The original was godawful and pretty bad even by 1980s PC standards. But the series has seen steady improvement since then. Ark of Napishtim (Ys 6), is one of the best (and hardest) action RPGs on the PS2. Ys 3 for genesis wasn't half bad either but that's considered the bastard child of the series.

  • It has a good story?

  • Yeah it's pretty good. Standard fare, you have to stop some guy from getting ultimate power and ruling the world with the help of your friendly neighborhood goddesses who may or may not be crushing on Adol.

  • I finish ark of naishtim in 2 days it's so good

  • YES. OH GOD YES.

  • im glad this is comming, i heard you can do orignal bump into enemy to attack or choose option to see and use weapon, i played this long time ago on sega master system, now i get a version for portable, many thanks Atlus for bring it out here

  • Stupid "Atlus" taking all my damn money

  • FINALLY the another y's game is coming out the wait was too long after the ark of napishtem and plus I thought it was kinda dumb of adol to leave them like that but that's the fate of our red haired adventurer. and I wish I could've played the remakes of I&II on the PS2 but they were sadly japan release only but it kinda sucks that the japanese keep all of the awesomest games for themselves but I guess we should be happy with what we get.

  • This isn't "another" game, it's a remake of I and II. And there WAS a game after Napishtim, Ys Origin, a prequel to I and II, explaining the old priests talked about in I and II. and I believe the origin of Cleria and Darm.

PS. Japan doesn't "keep" the games, Ys just didn't sell well when the TGFX sold poorly. So they never imported them here. I don't think American companies wanted it cause they were afraid it wouldn't sell.

  • I wasn't saying it was "another game" I was saying we finally get another one over here and besides I believe I also stated the remakes of I&II on the PS2 so it should be obvious that I'm not calling it another Y's anyway and I already knew about Y's Origin (the opening is my favorite out of them all GO VIOLIN!!) but I was stating that another Y's has finally come stateside because I believe the only Y's we got that's available to the current generation. and my main problem with JP is SRW.

  • My bad, I didn't know you knew. I read it as you thought there hadn't been one cause you talked about after Napishtim. I just misunderstood.

  • wasn't the orignal Ys game where you had to bump into them sort of to attack them? So glad this is comming to the states finaly to for the DS should be great.

  • I didn't think Atlus would bring over this. The TG-16 CD version of Ys I&II is one of my fav games ever. If this is anything like the most recent PC version of Ys I&II which I have yet to play, this game will be a handheld orgasm. End of story :D

  • Reasons why I'm getting this game:

    3. The trailer looks awesome.

    2. It's made by Atlus.

    1. The song is absolutely incredible!

  • It's actually made by Nihon Falcom, Atlus is just localizing it. The music is by Falcom Sound Team JDK.

  • Oh wow, thanks for telling me! Still, the game looks very well-made.

  • Konami? Konami only ported Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim (Windows) for the PS2 and PSP and localized it in English. These Ys DS games were developed by Interchannel-Holon and are modified versions of Ys I-II Eternal/Complete for Windows, made by Nihon Falcom.

  • Cool. I've never played these games but I think I may pick this series up. Looking for new games for my DS. As I'm a fan/player of old-school games. Well, another goody to add to my game wishlist.

  • It's about damn time. Now my kid can play a game series I fell in love with when I was his age without me trying to coax my TGDuo to life. Good move Altus, good move.

  • i cant wait to put my hands on that game!!!

    all hail,ATLUS!!!

    ---BelialDarkness---

  • Nihon Falcom games being localized?

    Atlus, fuck yeah!

  • Maybe now Atlus'll be smart and release the vastly superior Ys: Origin, or MAYBE Oath in Felghana. Doubtful but we can dream right?

  • Only if they get ported to console will we ever see the *slightest* chance of them getting localized. :P Afterall, console gaming is where the market is over here. :/

  • I guarantee there will be English patches for those in the future. Took awhile for Windows Ys I&II Eternal get patches.

  • Omigosh!

    This is great! Thanks Atlus!

    I love you :D

  • I liked the TurboDuo version from way back, but does this game still feature the "ram at an angle" attacks or do you swing your sword instead?

  • Oh my gosh! I was hoping we would get more Ys action over on this side of the Pacific and thanks again to the underdogs Atlus for it! Konami seems to not want to make any money anymore! Boo! For not relaseing this Konami and Suikoden I & II for PSP! Could that series be next, Atlus? Please? PLEASE?!!

  • Epic win.

  • ...If Atlus already didn't have my gaming soul, I'd probably sell it to them JUST for this.

  • Well.. I just beat Book I and am now playing through Book II on the VC... and I'm pretty sure I'll still pick this up for the DS! We gotta support this series so we get them all localized!

  • Now for a release of the non-localized SMT series and I'll be happy.

  • Really hope this turns out to be good. Just bought Ys VI on PS2, of course i'd like to start at least with I and II beforehand. Havent jumped on the Virtual Console version yet either.

  • oh sure they talk big with new enhancements and all that, but lets see some gameplay, Im hoping they dont dissapoint

  • This is great for us Role Playing / Adventure Gamers out there in Videogameland.. I finished this on the Turbo-Grafix 16 a long Long time ago and was playing the Y's: The Ark of Napishtim on the PSP but it is not the same as Book 1 & 2. I am currently Working on the Tales Of Vesperia, Dragon Quest IV & Lost Odyssey So I have time to wait for Y's

    Great Work Atlus

  • Atlus, you are by far the most awesome company for gamers in the US. You never cease to amaze. I can't wait for this!!!

  • Awesome! I love this series. This game alone is what made me purchase a TG16/TG CD Player. This was the first game I saw that had voice acting and music tracks with heavy guitar. Like a previous post said...I would like to see the rest of the series make it over into english. I imported Y's IV, but it's all in Japanese. It would be nice to see an english translation.

  • Wow! I always wanted to play these games :-D

  • I really hope they release the entire series out here.

  • Amen to that. Atlus has been picking up more and more titles for the US, which is just awesome.

  • This certainly takes me back. The music in this series is so great and the story isn't anything to scoff at either. It'll be interesting to see more game play footage and what's changed from the originals. This is one to keep your eyes on.

  • They just released this on Virtual Console a few weeks ago. The 3D graphics better be worth another $20 or so.

  • Awesome, im definatly going to get this game!!!!

    Btw FIRSRT!
