Hi 48Cupcakes, nice video! Manitoulin Island is such a great place to visit. This video would be great for the Canada’s Got Treasures collection, which aims to feature Canadian videos of personal or cultural significance. Help celebrate Canadian diversity by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure) and submitting your video. It would be made available on our channel and website.
I remember when I was a little kid going over this bridge, I would love to go back to Manitoulin Island in the summer. I have so many memories of this place.
..when the old train tracks where on the bridge,,one day when i was going fishing,i decided to bike across the bridge,at the time there was no traffic,,then suddenly cars are coming from behind ,so i paddled faster and tried to pull closer to the bridge and my front tire got stuck in the rail tracks and almost threw me off the bridge,,i broke my arm that day and the bridge operator helped me to the other side and called the EMS...that bridge is the heart of the island man...
Thanks for commenting on the video...sorry to hear about your arm...and yes, I agree with you...the bridge is the "heart" of the Island. I luv visiting the Island! Happy New Year to you.
We need to have an alternative method of travel on and off Island...This old bridge has broken down often and its only one lane. We need a two lane bridge to the Island....If for nothing else but Safety. If you can't get to Sudbury Hospital by air because someone else is enroute in the Air ambulance...then your as good as dead! We need a two lane bridge...Period......
I Live In Manitoulin. I Take The Bridge For Granted:P I Always WOndered Why Tourists WOuld Wait And Watch It. While I Drive Over It So Often, ANd Get Annoyed When I'm Stuck Waiting Behind It Because It's Opening.
But I Guess SInce It's Like 1 Of The Last Swinging Bridges In The World, It's Neat To See It So Often.

Once you cross the bridge onto the island you pass the welcome center then Farqhar's Ice Cream and the Fish and Chips stand. Yum.

hope they pave over it or give it a new road if it can carry a train track and a train it sure can hold up some pavement

I always loved the bridge....but having spent every summer there growing up, I was often annoyed by it too!
