Rome total war is just so goddamn good. Rome II would be so fucking awesome, just make a really high res Rome: Total war, add a few things here and there.

Personally one thing I'd really like is to be able to tour the cities I control, something about watching the cities grow and watching the aqueducts and stuff is really satisfying.

The naval battles are great when they run smoothly, however I feel that the campaign is let down by the technology tree and pirates blocking trade roots which ensure that I never have enough money to either maintain a sufficient military or run a successful economy. The game's campaing needs fine tuning, and more historic battles have to be included (I loved them on Rome Total War) and on the expansion Alexander Total War. That and an expensive gaming pc and it would be the best game ever.

Empire total war is probably an amazing game on a gaming pc. However it requires too much processing power than most computers and almost all laptops provide. This means on my pc and most of my friends, the game suffers constant lag even with the graphics on low, so effectively looking worse than Rome total war, which runs fine on high settings. The characterse look like potoatoes, and are often completely unresponsive to commands, due to lag.

In empire AI is still pretty horrible. At least strategic AI is passable, but in battles you often just execute weaker enemies that go into your standing firing line.

i loved viking i thought it was one of the most under apreciated games that have come out recently and how people complain it lags. its a consol game with battles with literally thousands of guys on screen that are battling all around you archers in the distance shooting at you you summoning dragons to kill the enemy shamans it is truely frigin epic and the fact they do it while only droping down maybe 3 frames per second is truely an amazing feat

Also, its true that making an imprssive WW2 game would be difficult but ww1 one might be plausible. Mainly becuase in WW1 most nations still used old tactics, lines, and huge numbers. So maybe it should be done.

The entire seeling point of The Total War games is the fact that you can have thousands of units on screen fighting massive battles.

In more recent times, Since WW1, Battle sized have gotten smaller, more Defencive and more tactical.

In modern times, there are very few battles which have more than 20 people fighting in it.

This would lack the Scale and sheer AWE of the Total War games, and i dont think it would sell.

@Xelmon yea, because modern day tactics are completely different, one the 1900s hit it wasn't about line infantry or even grouping units together, it was about small squads of light infantry, and it still is today, Total War has always had units grouped together in a tight formation. And I'm not mentioning the fact that now artillery might not even be on the battle map and I don't know how CA would implement air support into the game, it has to stay with old war tactics.

The nature of warfare changed completely in the late 19th and early 20th century. It is impossible to make a Total War game about that kind of warfare.

A Total War game MUST feature 2 things:

- independent armies meeting on a relatively small battlefield for short, decisive battles

- several ruthless warlords/kings/leaders lusting for nothing but conquest

The Mongol Empire was the largest contiguous empire in history. That might make for a great game.

I dunno. a big element of Total war is the close to the ground terrain camera. that would kinda defeat the purpose of a space game mode, and it wouldn't be right to do a space game without space battles, no matter how awesome the planets are... so, its a cool idea, but I don't see it happening, or if it did, being very good.
