I feel pity for many religious people who honestly do not understand, but I have a harder time doing so for religious leaders who are taking advantage of all these people, ruling them with fear and then sending them out to do their dirty work.
Haven't convinced anyone to play it with me yet. But the book is right here next to me ;o) I also haven't begun assembly on my baneblade yet, I've promised myself I'd finish of my marines before I got myself involved in anything else. Just 130 foot sloggers and 4 tanks to go :P
I just finished my line breaker squad, mostly as a diversion from painting the Forge World Greater Deamon of Nurgle,I've put off buying a baneblade(for a plaguereaper conversion)untill I finish all my painting projects.
It's weird seeing 40k mentioned while trawling through atheism vids. Looking forward to getting a Plaguereaper for myself one day. I made some rules for Nurglesque Guard and started assembling them shortly before GW released rules for a Nurgle Guard tank. It's a sign!
If I believed most preachers were fakes--that they didn't believe what they taught--I would agree with you. Since I think most preachers believe what they teach, I can't help but feel this video is a little bigoted.
Yeah, I'm an atheist too, but I think preachers are fucking morons, not intentionally evil.
I believe that most of them have convinced themselves that they actually believe what they preach. I also believe that most of them subconsciously, if not necessarily consciously, are very much uncertain. Or maybe I just hope so.
But you're right, it is a little bigoted, because I generalize a lot here. But as the graphics designers at my job like to say: Creativity can't be forced ;o)
Did you know that a study was done that suggests politicians (and be extention, possibly preachers) derive pleasure from denying things that contridict their "beleifs"? Politicians were given a brain scan while certain questions were asked that required politicians to deny the truth, the center of the brain that controls pleasure increased in activity. I don't remember where I read this though. I'll bet the same thing happens with preachers.
Would be some awesome lyrics to a death metal song.

There is no such thing as "evil". It's notion is a product of theism.
Chew on it.
Rationalism > theism.

Warhammer 40K mostly. Also the occasional Blood Bowl match, and we have been known to feature Necromunda and Battle Fleet Gothic on occasion.
Yeah, I'm a geek ;o)

Great musings :)
I was born a heretic. I always distrust people who know so much about what God wants them to do to their fellows.
