This is a great video for people who believe in themselves but did not complete their education due to financial or extenuating circumstances. It goes to prove, you can do anything and you shouldn't fit into a mold of "requirements". I dropped out of college and make over $100,000 a year as a sales director. So college isn't for everyone.
Don't think that dropping out might make you rich! Most of these people were already wealthy due to their social context. Bill Gates' father was really rich.
But chew on this: The richest man in the world got a master's degree from Columbia University; Warren Buffet.
So don't be mislead by a few dropouts who happened to hit the jackpot or have stolen someone's original work. You might as well play the lotto all your life or try to rob a bank!
I think this is a wonderful video and it proves that anything you can learn in school, or college you can learn on your own. I think the trick that worked for all the people in this video is motivation, if you aren't motivated you won't succeed in what you do. But if you are, well just look at the results!
Universities are nothing but businesses. There isnt one subject out there you can't learn on your own if you're devoted enough. Not having much education wont help you get a job but who cares when the knowledge you've just gained helped you start your own business.
I'm afraid that this video might encourage current high school students to drop out. But the people you mention here are not average people. Some, like Gates and Allen are geniuses. School would not have benefitted them as much as it would someone who was of normal intelligence. So unless you know you have unusual talents or a very special opportunity, stay in school.
these people that dropped out werent like dropping out is going to make me rich, no these people were BORED with what school was teaching them they wanted to live and school wasnt teaching them anything really, they wer bored and wanted life
But What is the percentage of dropouts that make it big????
Probably virtually 0%. And would you risk all that just to become a millionaire? You can become a millionaire without taking that much risk. Its not hard.
The problem with college is that it's a system (a process), and systems often hamper creativity and innovation. When you follow the system, you usually get what it gives everyone. Meaning, if you get a bachelors, you'll find a decent job, make 50K per year and be happy. But to achieve greatness and accomplish exceptionl things, you can't get wrapped up in systems. College isn't for everyone.
Because the person out of the system may right the system...
Bill Gates
Steve Jobs
Henry Ford
Thomas Edison.
They are great people but dont drop out of university/college because u need a back up plan. even if u graduate it. and get a job u can still continue your dreams on the side. It just takes time out of ur personal life
its not like they dropped out then made a companey they had to drop out to run their company. Most of them wore in good schools when they did dropped out.
by the way, absolutley amazing display of information, i never realized any of this, and always figured that drop outs would end up working at poverty level(i already knew about bill gates, but i thought he was just an exception) but after seeing all of this...i am completely flattered
the fact is this, dropout people in average make more money than none-dropout, but dropout doesnt mean that youll be rich
Most of the times they left school cause they have too much projects and studies will not help get that project completed.
80% of the money is owned by 20% of the population ;)

I love this video.
It shows that anyone can make it in our world, if they simply work hard and strive to succeed.
Just because someone drops out of school does not mean that they will fail in life!
All you have to do is WORK HARD!
Hard work always pays off in the end (plus it's satisfying).
That's what my grandfather always says.

Specifically, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard University.
Still, that is completely correct.

College is so you can learn to work for someone, it takes self motivation to start a business and they can't teach that.

Cmon lets face it, education is a joke.
Universities are nothing but businesses. There isnt one subject out there you can't learn on your own if you're devoted enough. Not having much education wont help you get a job but who cares when the knowledge you've just gained helped you start your own business.

Yes, but the point is that a college degree (a piece of paper) didn't give them their opportunities. They found their own way.

Believe in yourself and go for it. Do not hold back. The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all.
