No your point is the Masters is the biggest. My point is The two Opens(including the British) are the biggest. Yes I am using Americans to argue that The Open (British) is bigger than The Masters(US) get it? By your logic the Americans would rank the 3 US majors as more significant than the British. When in fact all (including Wooods in interviews) have trouble splitting the Two Opens. As for The Masters every major champion gets invited back each year as honorary non-competing for life.

I haven't argued that the Masters is the biggest, I think exactly the same as daniel3203 and if you had read and understood my posts properly you would realise that. My logic suggested that for many traditional US golfers like Niclaus the US Open is their Open and therefore has the highest signifance for them. In fact I heard Niclaus say something very similar to that himself.

Your looking at the whole thing the wrong way, a major significance is determined by how important it is for the fans and the players, not by whether it is invitational or not. The Masters is loved by many fans and players and as a result is as significant as the two Opens. Certainly atleat from people Britain that I've seen asked, it seems that players favourite majors are their national open and the Masters. So as a result I put the Masters and the two Opens as equal and the PGA just behind.

My Friend, let me enlighten you...The Masters is not a championship of anything as it is an invitational event, even Bobby Jones the tournaments founder argued that.

The PGA is the professionals golfers of America championship and is not open to Amateurs.

Moving forward The US OPEN has more room to grow. The OPEN(British) is limited by being a links tournament......but it is THE OPEN...they are both so massive. Okay 183 days of the Year the US OPEN is better the other 182 belongs to THE OPEN(British).

To be honest your whole thinking is wrong by the fact that you totally disregarded the Masters because it is an invitational. The Masters is considered by many, including many players to be right at the top of there list. Your mistaken in thinking that the two opens are more significant than the Masters. Which Open is better is entirely subjective, the fact that the Open is played on links courses is not necessarily a negative given that its the way the game was first played.

This leaves the two Opens as the most significant tournaments in world golf. As most of the world doesn't play links golf and the US OPEN represents the most complete test of golf it beats The OPEN (or British) but probably only by a shot over 72 holes.

I am from Australia so I will except anyone who says the Open(British) is bigger but you can only choose one of the OPENS. It is really very close. They are both massive. This years US OPEN was the best since Watson in 82 perhaps the best in last 40 years. The four majors have evolved to a point they are so much bigger than all of the other Tournaments. Adam Scott has won both the Players and the Tour Championship and no one cares.
