@superblabla64 In the campaign you play as US Special forces but in multiplayer you can choose. You can also customize what your character looks like and the internet multi is pretty active to this day.

To all of you stupid idiots shitting on the graphics: This game is from 2002! pretty fucking normal the graphics aint as good as modern day games. The gameplay and story is epicly good though, this is one of the best videogames ever, and just THE best fps / vietnam themed game

@Hanske90 I even forgot to mention the soundtracks, they are nothing less than brilliant. If you want a good vietnam war game there's a lot of options (BF vietnam, Men Of Valor, Conflict vietnam,...) but only VC1 gives you the shivers, fear and feel of being there yourself instead of your videogame char. It's also by far the best multiplayer FPS i have ever played. 7 years after release there's still a lot of online communities dedicated to this game, with hundreds of people online daily.

Hmm, i got vietcong 2 but theres no jungle shooting cool action, and everytime i go to play online it says invalid cd key for no reason! i checked out my cd key and everything but nothing. So i might get Vietcong 1 and plus i have FRAPS but a registered version so my fraps is a bit better quality and without the watermark, so i'd love to do some filming on it!

Truly great game. Graphics were never the best but gameplay is solid for SP and MP. Game had its share of idiosyncrasies, but still WELL worth picking up. Hope ppl are still playing it online. Yes you can, and its very nice. But no, u can't use helicopters, exept their machingun, and only for 2 missions.
