  • lol. an idiot. untalented amateur. search chet atkins! idiots

  • I saw Big Jim doing a Fender guitars Demo at the White Swan Sheffield in 1977. He had a stage full of all the latest Strats Teles etc but did the whole demo on a semi acoustic Fender Starcaster, he announced to the audience that it was the only guitar out of the whole bunch that was playable. Fender got their act together soon after that.

  • he's the teacher of Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore

  • BJS is playing at the "London Guitar Show" this weekend.

    Sunday at 15:00.

  • I remember Big Jim playing for Tom Jones on " This is Tom Jones. Boy, he could really work it. One of the best

  • "Big Jim"

    youtube reference -> aBJrrm7Dup0

I wouldn't bother with anything after 2 minutes.

  • I'm seeing Jim in Newcastle tomorrow !

  • Jim is a Legend!! He's probably played on more hits than any other guitarist in the world considering he was the abbey road session guitarist back when they had full time session players. James bond theme tune, beatles, bowie, to name but a few apparently!

  • whats the gas ,just another guitarist

  • whats the big deal ,he is just another guitarist

  • I'm seeing Jim on Saturday in London.

  • I took a look at the link and yes of course Its Jim on Nylon guitar.

Why is there not more stuff on here with Jim???

Anyone going to the club next Friday??

  • big jim a legend in his own lifetime hope your feeling better jim see you at chrismas love brett marvin.

  • I'm seeing Jim at Isleworth this Saturday.

  • There is precious little of Jim on "youtube".

Check out the following though :-

    Reference is D_P-v1BVQn8

  • Er.......Gilbert O'Sullivan???

  • Jim plays the excellent guitar solo as he did on Gilbert's hit single "Alone Again (Naturally)".

  • and hey Ho

last Friday Night Jim played " All along the watchtower" and "Hey Joe"

    wicked

  • Jim was a big influence on my guitar playing back in the day. I use to watch Tom Jones show just to catch a few seconds of Jims playing at that time. He always had a spot featuring big Jim.

  • Mmm not so sure it was Henry, as even though the head was missing from the shot, the hands were of a contemperareous older person at that time than Henry, and it has to be said the guitar work was not approaching Jims standard, so it probably was not him.

There must be some more clips somewhere Guys.............surely !!!

  • I'll ask Jim if I can put "All Along The Watchtower" on this site.

That'll be an eye opener to some people !

  • I have seen Jim play Watchtower, and for sure if you have it videod and put it on, wow it will blow evryone else away.

I did here it rumoured that Jim played on the original with Jimi.........could this be true??

    Cheers

  • I feel some clarification is in order.

Jim walked out of the Shang-A-Lang show !

I'm not sure that the Joe Cocker clip from "This is Tom Jones" featured BJS. It was almost certainly Henry McCullough.

It was removed for copyrighted reasons.

  • Last time i saw this guy,he had a guest spot on each of the weekly episodes of the Bay City Rollers TV show,"Shang-A-Lang"!He's BRILLIANT!

  • Jim is simly the greatest guitar player I have ever seen, the so called Big International names just dont even get close to this guy.

  • I can confirm this guitar player is Simply The Best, his monthly sessions truly outstanding, and a really nice man.

There used to be a clip on here of him with Joe Cocker, where has it gone??

  • There was a Bay City Rollers program in the 70's (shang-a-lang)and Jim had a 90sec (approx) segment where he showed viewers how to play the guitar, the one I remember was him using a Talk box, I seem to remember he was James Lasts guitarist too

  • Jim played a Lauro's waltz.

    The kids screamed.

    Jim quit.

    Check out BigJimSullivam on Wikipedia.

  • Jim walked out on the show when the screaming girls didn't listen to his rendition of a Theme by Laura

    Have a look at Wikipedia

  • That's right, In 1978 he became part of the James Last Orchestra for nine years.

  • Yeah I've got an episode of Shang a Lang on Video. When Jim does his spot, he looks seriously pissed off and says "If the Children would stop screaming, I'll play this piece" He's playing a Natural Thinline Tele and Eric and Woody are playing rhythm behind him very badly. Not surprised he quit, he didn't need that shit!!

  • I know that he has not been well of late but I would echo the earlier comment - if you have the chance to see him 'live' GO SEE HIM!! The guy is brilliant!

  • i remember big jim on the tom jones variety show.

he made quite an impression on me.

  • Yes, me too! I always waited for that little spot where he'd come on and dazzle for 12 seconds...I'm still looking for some clips from the Jones Show.

  • Haha my names Jim Sullivan!

  • Big Jim the Uk's best ever session guitar player, with over 1000 hit chart singles to his credit I think? Keep it up. Cheers for the posting, Got anything else?

  • No, live vision mixed

  • See Jim every month he runs a small club near me. Gets some big names appearing. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Rate it for goodness sake !

Some sad person in Chicago has got 56 ratings.

  • great 2 see 'im on the tube

  • Jim is the most influential guitarist the UK has ever produced.

    Have a look at Wikipedia.

  • More people should know about this bloke! This is a pitifully short piece by an astonishingly brilliant guitarist. I've seen him umpteen times, his playing is incredible, not that you'd know it from this. This is from his website, if anyone's got anything else with his playing, PLEASE put it on YouTube!

  • This clip is from Big Jim Sullivans Guitar Maestros DVD - a 2 hour dvd featuring performance and interview about his life
