One thing I don't like about Google: the Web is definitely an important platform, but I really, REALLY think that the Browser definitely should NOT be the most important platform. I would prefer specialized applications (like office suites/graphics programs/etc) to be network-transparent instead, allowing for all the power of the user's computer's resources with all the collaboration of the web. THAT is, I believe, the ultimate working machine.

That limits who can access the application though, also, you'd have to think of cross-platform support which is much harder than cross-browser.

Hopefully, the web developers won't have to suffer from developing different code for different browsers such as Firefox, Safari, Opera, IE, etc. W3C won't enforce developers to follow their specification, but at least, it is better than nothing but just proprietary APIs.

Just for the record iPhone is 1) a GSM phone and 2) uses a SIM card as well.

As for Android, Android is just a software stack, but I do believe they are aiming at GSM for sure.
