all the people who hate load/ reload/ st anger are NOT metallica fans.
they are thrash fans.
let me clarify: a 'metallica' fan would love absolutely EVERYTHING metallica has ever done. no exceptions. i myself am not a metallica fan because im not very fond of AJFA, but i still like most of thier stuff.
there is nothing wrong with being a thrash fan, let me make that clear, but if you love metallica's old stuff and dont like anything else, im sorry, you're not a metallica fan.
Metallica did Not sell out they evolved. The one's who say that they went to shit are probably the ones who are doing the same thing today they were ten years ago, living in their parents house eating someone else's grocerys begging cig's from the neighbors.
I'm a hardcore thrash fan, who for years didn't even take the chance to listen to the load albums. Now I've had the chance and they're not bad. Not the best in the world, but listenable.
you know, people say that Metallica sold out to be more mainstream, but honestly, most of the songs on the load and reload album i've never even heard of before, and there's not much radio airplay for them except for "Until it Sleeps" and "Fuel". So........who exactly did they sell out to?
@jedihorton7 King Nothing, Memory Remains, Hero of the Day, Wasting my Hate, Unforgiven 2, Better than You, Mama Said, Bleeding Me and Ain't my Bitch were all hits and have gotten significant radio play. These songs are from both Load and Reload.
Possibly the most bad-ass intro I've ever heard. And I know that this song is kind of slow to headbang to, but if you don't at least nod your head a little bit at 1:06, there is a 99.9999999% chance that you have shit in your ears and that you should see a ear doctor immediately.
@TheBottomline333 I agree! The only song I didn't like from the Load/Reload days is "Hero of the Day" because it just didn't do much for me; all the other songs had a great sound with interesting subject matter.
I actually liked >50% of St Anger album also. The riffs were great, even if the production quality sounded too garage-like. I also missed Kirk's solos.
@halodystroyer44 I know... Mama Said may have been a little too country for Metallica, but it wasn't a really bad song and I'm sure it meant something to James or he wouldn't have written it. Take care! :)
metallica rulllzzz the best band on the world... they are amazing gods¡¡ metall.. trash..heavy..slow.. fast..soft.. all is cool xD master master to nothing else matters.. to memory remains xDDD and moreeeee

I believe most of you will figure out the second part of my name but this right here explains the first, This is their best song from the 90's in my opinion.
@drahmaster Every video i got to people talk about justin beiber. What the fuck? haha. this is metallica have discussions about there greatness, not discussions about jb's faggotness. iight? thanks. Long Live Metallica.
@kidguko1 exactly. I didn't know who the fuck he was until people started talking about him on youtube. People that hate him are giving him more publicity. fuckin morons.
The 15 people that didn't like this are the so called "True" metallica fans, that think nothing after black album was good, because God forbid Metallica does blues rock.
metallica is like cigarette addiction, the first time is not the best experience, then the more u listen the more you need. I stopped listening to metallica for half a year, and i need more again lol.
people dont like load and reload because it was a huge step away from what metallica is known for. the fans do not like it because it changed everything that they thought metallica was
Badass, My fav two songs on reload are Where the wild things are and this. But no one likes Load and Reload. I don't even know why. I mean St. Anger I can see why (Even though I love St. Anger but I know that fails) but their is no real reason to dis-like load and reload. I mean, you got; Hero of the Day, Ain't my bitch, 2X4, and Momma said on Load. And Fuel, Fixxer, Devil's dance, Prince Charming and Memory Remains on reload. None of the songs suck. Old School Metallica fans do.
"This album and what we're doing with it - that, to me, is what Metallica are all about: exploring different things. The minute you stop exploring, then just sit down and fucking die."
...The weird thing is that Metallica did both this and Lepper Messiah. I think there's no comparation...Lepper Messiah is way heavier and definetly makes me feel a lot more stuff.
Yes, they have divertsity, but I think they lost a lot of the things that make them amazing...here I can't feel the things I felt, for example, the first time I listened The Call of Ktulu or Fade to Black.
92% of teenagers have turned to hip-hop and pop, if ur part of the 8%, copy this message and paste it to an other video. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK DIE!!!!
@Xcal97 I'll argue that Reload was better than Load. Look at the Top 5 songs (IMO) from each album: Load (Until it Sleeps, King Nothing, Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, Mama Said) // ReLoad (Unforgiven II, Memory Remains, Fuel, Fixxer, Devil's Dance). I don't know about the majority, but I definitely find myself listening to Unforgiven II, Memory Remains, Fuel and even Fixxer more than I listen to any of the songs off Load.
Fuel, Fixxxer, and Carpe Diem were the best tracks off this album imo, and I have a soft spot for Low Man, but this album also had some real stinkers on it. I thought Load was a little more consistent.
@ItWhoSleeps did you not listen to Memory Remains? Bleeding me? Outlaw Fucking Torn? Cape Diam? Come on you Obviously didnt give them the light of day.
I remember not liking this album for years. I gave it a listen a couple of weeks ago and now I'm hooked like a catfish. This, Carpe Diem Baby, and Low Man's Lyric are nothing short of brilliant (and Unforgiven II of course, that's a given).
Some people don't like this album because they don't like this style of Metallica, in which I'm 100% content with. But on the other hand, theres these whiny little cunts who bitch and bicker about them changing their music, so now they hate Metallica in general, and those are the people that can suck a fat dick.
yea i know! that's what pisses me off. I'm not saying i liked that "load era", but just cause they changed their look for a couple of years, doesn't mean they are sucky band. And some of the songs were actually awesome from "Load", "Re-load", and "St. Anger." But they did come out of that era and created their best album yet, "Death Magnetic"
@miafan89 I completely agree with you. ReLoad is probably my favorite album, and this song, Fixxxer, is also my favorite song. All bands go through changes, all people try different things, so why shouldn't Metallica? There's still ...And Justice For All, Kill 'em All, and other older albums that are great! So what if they decide to make a song that seems more country than thrash!? (Mama Said, Load)
@ZorkuAravar obviously, all people are different. I, for example, hate the ...And justice for all album and most of the Black Album. I think they are overrated and overplayed. I love the whole St. Anger and Death Magnetic albums. I am a huge Metallica fan, and I like trash metal alot, but I am more overtaken by the diversity of Metallica's more recent songs. (btw, if you have heard 'Human', that is a great song too, but you probably have to listen to it 2 or 3 times to get the feel of it.)
Music is good of this song, but I disagree with the lyrics. people should look for their own healing and not ask to be healed. If the opposite was the case, then where is our volition to change? Agree it is hard, but that is the only way to change.
@WeHateThePatriots Yeah thats a tough one between these two indeed, but i would hand it to this one because i just find Metallicas blues rock stuff doesn't get half the credit it deserves
@lordofleaves Thank you. This may be one of my most favored songs of all time. The lyrics are excellent, I like the dynamics, and of course the tune rocks my fuckin' world.
@alienpope11 so sorry to hear it. guess its been a while since ur comment. hope ur friend pulled through. this song is always cathartic to me too in bad times. almost died myself recently. im glad we have this to lean on. hope ur well.
It's somewhat more 'easy listening' compared to the older stuff, but I like it. A lot.
The first songs I heard from them where Black/Load/Reload era and I became a fan. 's prolly why I'm one of the few people who AREN'T bashing on everything after Justice <_<
Fuckin jab a pin in me!... so damn true, I was under the control of an evil force once.. I thank God and Metallica for helping me remove the pins and the evil from my life... the scars will never completely heal, I pick at them to keep the pain alive so that I may never forget.. "No more pins in me".. Damn right!
hey this song is so voodoo child from jimmy hendrix, just listen to the intro and some verses from the song.. they talk about voodoo! like the title of the jimmy hendrix song
I generally dislike Load/Reload. I felt most of the music was of average quality or worse. There are a few gems like Fuel, Hero of the Day and Unforgiven 2. However, I think this song and Bleeding Me are the best from that era, mainly because of the haunting lyrics, which foreshadow James' rehab and turmoil during St. Anger.
i fuckin loved load and reload. reload was even darker, and more out there...
i hate how everyone bags on these records. what pisses me off the most is when the band bags on them. these were the real modern metallica, the space idiom metal cowboys that they had always aluded to being. and this song is one of the best... this is back when they still knew who they were.
Fucking brilliant. Feels like a kick in the stomach every time I hear it. Yes, their best stuff ended with Garage Days but this particular song is definitely "up there."
thanks dude. Somebody "gets it." I'm serious. Metallica's been unable to even approach Damage, Battery or Orion since 1986. A few exceptions include: Dyers Eve, Fixxxer and Outlaw Torn. That's about it. Damage is the best thing they've ever done.
man..say wat u will about the 90's metallica..but thats the metallica i grew up with. that "badass attitude and the rich and famous lifestyle" metaliica will always have a place in my heart
I completely understand, because I have similar words for other things in life. Really. But that's not what Metallica was about when it was created. For whole 10 years, it was something else. And now they themselves have started to realize it and they're, more or less succesfully, returning to their roots. Load & Reload are, if you listen to Lars himself, "just a phase" (if you ask most of the people, not that good phase).
Metallica know what they are doing, the greatest band of all time, hands down. I like how Kirk Hammett keeps struming his guitar to make that same note sound in the begining of the video. Very original and Legendary. James, Lars, Kirk, Rob are my idols.
@JMnDC4eva Man, Cliff was truely a god on the bass. The funny thing is, i was just listening to Anesthesia. Pulling Teeth. pure beast. I know hes resting well
i read somewhere that it's about james' parent fight against cancer and his feelings that God was kind of punishing their family. i dont know how true that is, though.
hate when u "true" fans say "old" and "new" metallica..... for the real fans there are no 80's and 90's-there is only one metallica and its constant quality!!
i think metallica is metallica no matter what but i also think the 90`s were good rock songs but the 80`s were incredibly awesome metal songs...but its still MetallicA!!
@Thesouthside4ever thank you i always say metallica cant make a bad record, i hope they get done with this tour soon, i wanna hear a new metallica record
Man why was this song SO overlooked, and still IS!! OUCH. Metallica man. People need to spend WAY more time listening to them and far less time bitching about them with their dfumb ass NON James Hetfield faces
I really hope they play this song live soon

Its about the torture and arrest that comes with having love with someone you'd rather not have in your life at all and the paradox of breaking free.
Love is control. Love, among other things, is a sharpened pin that can be used against the ones you abuse. That love locks you to them like a spell.
You look at yourself in the mirror, wondering where you have gone, and if you're meant to be.... right there. Can YOU strip away?.... ~~~{~{@

pins are jabing me at the moment. I need this song to see that I can "fall in love with life again"
alienpope11 2 years ago 3
It's somewhat more 'easy listening' compared to the older stuff, but I like it. A lot.
The first songs I heard from them where Black/Load/Reload era and I became a fan. 's prolly why I'm one of the few people who AREN'T bashing on everything after Justice <_<

@JackieHakalaJackson
Your not alone :O
I think the albums after justice really showed how diverse they can be in their music. Its truly awesomme
legoboll 1 year ago 2
@JackieHakalaJackson I just headbang for the first 4 albums, and rest have meanings for me.
ErgoDM 1 year ago 3
Fuckin jab a pin in me!... so damn true, I was under the control of an evil force once.. I thank God and Metallica for helping me remove the pins and the evil from my life... the scars will never completely heal, I pick at them to keep the pain alive so that I may never forget.. "No more pins in me".. Damn right!
wes8870 2 years ago
why would you want to keep the pain alive? remember it and learn from it sure, but why keep hurting yourself? are you a masochist?
acrobaticaromatic 2 years ago
Ask James.. he knows.
wes8870 2 years ago
Only now that i see that meaning (fan since1990).

Anger.
metallideth83 2 years ago
i fuckin loved load and reload. reload was even darker, and more out there...
i hate how everyone bags on these records. what pisses me off the most is when the band bags on them. these were the real modern metallica, the space idiom metal cowboys that they had always aluded to being. and this song is one of the best... this is back when they still knew who they were.
loknloll 2 years ago
Fucking brilliant. Feels like a kick in the stomach every time I hear it. Yes, their best stuff ended with Garage Days but this particular song is definitely "up there."
wolffpakk 2 years ago 2
i disagree death magnetic was a great album especially compared to the shitty metal out there today
Noremorse05 2 years ago 9
OK, death magnetic is "great," but it doesn't compare to the band's first four albums.
wolffpakk 2 years ago 3
thats what i think too
thepeanutbuttercup8 2 years ago
thanks dude. Somebody "gets it." I'm serious. Metallica's been unable to even approach Damage, Battery or Orion since 1986. A few exceptions include: Dyers Eve, Fixxxer and Outlaw Torn. That's about it. Damage is the best thing they've ever done.
wolffpakk 2 years ago
i dont even have a favorite song because theyre all my favorite
thepeanutbuttercup8 2 years ago 2
@wolffpakk
uhm the whole justice album kicks ass and its after 86, its so fuckin technical, its actually metallica at the prime of their skills like it or not
i hope you aren't one of those cliff dickriders ("everything after cliff sucks boo fuckin hoo")

man..say wat u will about the 90's metallica..but thats the metallica i grew up with. that "badass attitude and the rich and famous lifestyle" metaliica will always have a place in my heart
qyasser 2 years ago
I completely understand, because I have similar words for other things in life. Really. But that's not what Metallica was about when it was created. For whole 10 years, it was something else. And now they themselves have started to realize it and they're, more or less succesfully, returning to their roots. Load & Reload are, if you listen to Lars himself, "just a phase" (if you ask most of the people, not that good phase).
vojinko 2 years ago
this is pretty much the second outlaw torn, not quite as good, but still fuckin brilliant.

Metallica know what they are doing, the greatest band of all time, hands down. I like how Kirk Hammett keeps struming his guitar to make that same note sound in the begining of the video. Very original and Legendary. James, Lars, Kirk, Rob are my idols.

does anyone know the meaning of this song or the story behind it
disposablecups23 2 years ago
i read somewhere that it's about james' parent fight against cancer and his feelings that God was kind of punishing their family. i dont know how true that is, though.
Shadowfox524 2 years ago
yeah that sounds right cuz the lyrics kind of make sense to tht...thanks
disposablecups23 2 years ago
hate when u "true" fans say "old" and "new" metallica..... for the real fans there are no 80's and 90's-there is only one metallica and its constant quality!!
Thesouthside4ever 2 years ago 48
I FUCKIN AGREE WITH THAT!
roknat 2 years ago 3
i think metallica is metallica no matter what but i also think the 90`s were good rock songs but the 80`s were incredibly awesome metal songs...but its still MetallicA!!

Man why was this song SO overlooked, and still IS!! OUCH. Metallica man. People need to spend WAY more time listening to them and far less time bitching about them with their dfumb ass NON James Hetfield faces
Rumcookie2 2 years ago
One of the best songs but not much popularized mainly because they had no video for it.
