  • this song is 90's people. not 80's

  • this was released on her 1989 self titled album 'jane child'

  • That maybe so, but Jane Child had an original sound so did Bananarama, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Flock of Seagulls, Pat Benatar, A-ha, the list goes on. It was the new wave sound. Nothing like it was ever heard before in the music industry. Now you have bubblegum artists doing covers of the originals. NKOTB, Hiliary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Britney, NSYNC. They can't come up with their own material. The originals are and will always be the best. Everything else are just cheap imitations.

  • every generation has something fresh in it. Its hard to see what it is in the 2000's sometimes, but theres artists that define this generation with something original too. I'm sure thats the same with every decade.

    AKA, every decade rocks :)

  • Well said!

  • Man I miss the 80's. When music was music not this commercial crap that's pumped out all over the airwaves. Today's music has no soul.

  • hahahaha are you kidding me!

THIS sounds exactly like Fiver Star, Five Star souund exactly like this, and let's not forget New Kids On The Block, Bros, Mel and Kim, Bananarama, Curiosity Killed The Cat ... need I go on? Sweetheart there was ALWAYS commercial crap, you've probably just glamourised the 80s in your head because it's when you were a kid *assumption*.

I used to do the same until I realised - there is always going to be bubblegum factory churned out crap, in any era.

  • Jane if you want a 6'4" boyfriend who weighs 270 call me!

  • this takes me back to a time when radio music and just everything was awesome

  • yes my child it was from a time when there was still some shit out there, but not as much as there is today, maybe someday we can go back, maybe, maybe

  • doubt it,the 80s era was one of a kind, just glad i could have seen it

  • Whatever happened to this chick?

  • I had her. Then I kicked her to the curb. :)

  • u wished bitch ass

  • Go look at her website, Google Jane Child

  • bloody mental!!!

  • Janes version is the Version! Check out jane child . com I reality she is quite a beautiful women! I would love to see her in concert!

  • Kimberly's version is AWFUL! Nothing beats the original. I see why Nicole is the lead singer of PCD.

  • I still love this song after all these years! And no way does Kim sing this better! Kim sounds like she needs to howl out some dog commercials!

  • I love this song!!

  • Excellent song... I have been looking for this song for 19 years. I had no idea who sang or even the name so i just typed part of the lyrics to see what you tube can do to help. It paid off.

  • i think kimberly sings better :D

  • me too!

  • I wonder what happened to her? Her voice was so powerful.. just amazing!

  • 1990...Dancing with my friends at the club... Could'nt be more perfect! What a voice Jane has...What a perfect pop song!!!

  • my goodness girls were just hotter back then, period

  • the synthesizer is taken right straight from "Saved by the Bell" Nice voice!

  • This is the cut!

  • i hate to say it but i think Kimberly sing it better

  • I remember when this video first hit the air. OMG, she was so damned hot. The music is still slammin'. I remember in an interview someone asked if her piercings pulled against each other when she turned her head. I guess they didn't notice her ear and nose are both connected to her head.

    .

Thanks for posting this vid. The Tube rocks!!!

  • STONE COLD JAM Y'ALL! :-))))

  • I heard the video yesterday on VH1 even though I never heard of her before she was an outstanding performer/composer/singer plus very good chops on the keys. Thank you, you tube for expanding my musical horizon yet one more time

  • Oh man...that hair haha I remember this song. It was one of my favorites when I was little....1990 I was 5 years old! haha but I remember loving this song

  • Hey Tonyskins19 which coffee shop you meant jane right? or did i miss the punchline? She was very talented and brings back some great memories i was 21 when she hit the scene too bad she didn't keep it up she does have a new album out she did just for her fans. I,love her hair hard to believe it's all real!!

  • Who didnt love this song? This was my jam in the 3rd grade.

  • she works at a coffee shop in seattle as a manager

  • This was really a great song. If Jane had taken it to another level and had another hit or two after this... could have taken her look and style to enormous levels. This look was so orignal and the song such a hit...but just like with a lot of songs of this era ...it was a short flare up flame that soon died out well before it started.

  • HOLY SHIT AWESOME HAIR.

  • Love this song! And I think she's pretty.

  • Anyone know where what city this video was filmed in?

  • With her looking at the Statue of Liberty as the song is ending, I am just going to take a stab in the dark and say "New York"

  • she's ugly but the song is great.

I love the 80's because it's the decade when music was at it's best, because most artist could realy write and sing and play real instruments, and that just one of the reasons why i love thet 80's so much. Another one is that the world was a much better place than now, and life was good because everything was

cheap and affortable for the most of us.

Therefore i wish that i had a timemachine and could go back and never come back to the present again.

  • One of the best songs of the early '90s.

  • the lip-quiver is the best part of the vid.

  • Go Teddy, Go Teddy! He is a genius!!

  • sounds so much better than the pop out today

  • One of my faves! still jam it sometimes!

  • Jane made a brutha want her so bad!!..lol

  • I love this song. It's so energetic and powerful. Just listen to the beginning. Great keyboard work. A one-hit wonder, but what a hit! Regards from Norway.

  • i love 80's

  • I always kinda got her confused with Taylor Dayne, but this is a tougher and better single than Dayne's stuff. Good to hear a Fairlight solo.

  • In the 90's everyone was shocked by her looked...today....no one would notice LOL....but she has an amazing voice...and I LOVED THIS SONG!!! still do

  • Me, too! Jane has a nice set of pipes on her.

  • Great song!

  • Loved this song, remember thinking jane child looked like a freak with the chain on her face. awesome voice though.

  • i havent watched that clip ever since!!! i really loved that song and that sexy freak singer!!cool

  • Dont get me wrong - Pussycat Dolls have some songs that arent too bad; but how could anybody in their right mind think that the kimberly wyat/PCD version tops the original. That's Karaoke compared to this!

  • Please! No comparison. J Childs' original is much more soulful.

  • dude this song kicks yo!!

  • VIKING SUCKS THERE GOING DOWN SUNDAY

  • How'd that beat down workout for you? And Jane Childs kicks kimberly wyatt ass just like Adrian Peterson kicks Shitago Bear ass

  • got 2 luv the 80 's sound

  • Why does this song remind me of Taylor Dayne's songs?

  • if you liked this CD, you should check out her second one called HERE NOT THERE. Very smart, dark and pretty amazing.

  • ROCKIN HARD SLAM DUNKIN DOOWAP

  • I loved this album growing up. Rock on Jane on that N Train!! GO NEW YORK!

  • I was humming this the other day! This was such a crossover hit! The beat is sooo slammn'!!!

  • Love it! Makes me miss those days :(

  • "I don't wanna fall in love"

    I know the feeling

"Love cuts just like a knife"

    Got that right

  • What happened to her? This was such a great song.Love the part where she's dancing in front of the wall, for some odd reason. Thanks for the posting, galindes!

  • She lives in Toronto and does gigs in clubs there from what I heard. She also composes music.

  • AAAAAHHHHHH!!! I haven't heard this song in 18 years, didn't even know what it was called, but I typed it in the title just on the off-chance. THANKS FOR UPLOADING!!

  • PCD =)) they are also good with this song! Actually thousand times better!

  • What's everyone's favorite parts of the video? Among mine are the boy playing drums on the bucket in sequence to the beat, Jane on the ferry and they show the view of the former World Trade Center, and Jane jamming with the guys around the oil drum with the burning fire.

  • *Every* track on her first album are wicked brilliant!!

  • 3:42

    thats the best dancing ever

  • pcd remade it lol

  • This was really a great song. If Jane had taken it to another level and had another hit or two after this... could have taken her look and style to enormous levels. This look was so orignal and the song such a hit...but just like with a lot of songs of this era ...it was a short flare up flame that soon died out well before it started.

  • This song was the jump.

  • Alot of people dont know that Teddy Riley produced this song. He was gonna quit producing and then when he made this song he decided to stay in the music business

  • What a great 80's song but what is with the hair..(although I remember my hideous 80's hairdos - permed fringe with straight hair...ugh!) ha ha

  • well they dont that hair these days anyway. its an original masterpiece, punk meets r&b .I like her nose ring

  • this song is still the bomb. radio stations play this song and the clubds do too. jane you made a hum dinger. i was like 7 or 8 when this song came out. i still love it.

  • Jane definetly better than Kim, no doubt!

  • nottttt

  • I love her voice it's very unique. Kind of rocker with and R&B twist to it.

  • you know it would be good ... if they put the date these songs were released... total flashback

  • kim's version sucks ass, this is the real deal

  • fuck that! this is the original. so its better

  • if you say so

  • Kim's version is good, but I wouldn't say it's 'better'.

I just see them as an old version & a new version-meaning they're pretty much the same cuz there was nothing original about Kim's. It has the same music, same ad-libs,etc...

So there isn't much to compare.

But like I said I like both.

  • A tribute to Formula One 1990

  • jane child has a MUCH better voice. that's the main difference.

  • Todays "artists" cant do anything original that anybody wants to hear- all they "create" is more fodder for the media machine.

  • God, this takes me back a few years!!! For some reason, I wanted my hair like that. Then again I was 13. Not anymore!

  • Just heard the Kimberly version...not feelin it at all. IMO the orginal is the best.

  • Who is Kimberly Wyatt

  • a member of the pussycat dolls

  • good question

  • GOD no, at least this woman can see the song. Kim Wyatt (Pussycat Dolls member btw for BabyImBored) can't sing her way out of a paper bag.

  • Produced by the genius Teddy Riley!

  • NICE THUMP.

  • song...2, video...0

  • Takin' me back to a time when all was good.

    Kick it Jane!

  • PCD Have just covered song this on thier new CD as a bonus track I wonder if they will release it as a single. I loved this track when it first came out. She was pretty funky for "White Gal" if think about the era when it was released.

    ALD.

  • They most likely won't. It's on the Deluxe Edition and only done by Kim.

  • Spiked hair and chain linking a nose to an earing is cool.

  • Good song. Too bad she's a weird c**t.

  • Yeah. You mean her cun* has chain too?

  • LOL...it probably does.

  • Love to see her now, kinda thought she would of been bigger when this came out. Love to see what she looks like , man i hope she cut that hair it looks horrible. "thats just my opinion so dont all start sending me crap about her hair".

  • She Sings It With More Soul Then Kimberly Wyatt's Does. But I Like Kim's Version Too. :-)

  • i like both this version and Kimberly Wyatt's version individually

  • That's what I'm saying! Yet I'm getting dogged for it.

  • my friend tim has a key board guitar. He plays this song on it.

  • Who cares!? My third cousin has a drum, and can drum this song! Can anyone beat these amazing stories??

  • My friend however, is missing an arm.

  • This takes me back to the time when everything was still new....now shits just played out...Ahhh the 80's....Hot Lava

  • Wow, this takes me back to 3rd grade. I still like this song a lot. Pop music today really sucks. I really feel bad for the kids of today. Our era was so much better.

  • I am 31 years old. I grew up with music like this. I remember this song being played again and again on the radio in my early teens. Brings back memories.

  • Yes we know Kim stole the song and its on their bonus disc as her solo song. Mind you its Kimberly's version that lead me to the original as I must have missed it during the 90's. I will be honest and say that this version is much better tho

  • She didn't STEAL it. She just covered it.

  • nice hair= nice song

    sing it girl

    :D

  • do u know that kimberly from Pussycat Dolls stole this song and put it on the Pussycat dolls cd?

  • she didn't steal it, she just covered it.

  • I see places here in Toronto I have been too.

The diner is a drunk afterhours hangout at St Clair and Bathurst (I believe)

  • I love this song.....

  • BEAUTIFUL WOMANNNNNNNNNNN

  • Jane rocked this just the way she wanted too and guess what....I like original..9 times out of 10, it's done right the first time. Uh yup!

As for Madonna, I wish she would go sit her narrow, sickly looking white azz down!

    NEXT!

  • The song is O.K.

But WOW, does it bring back memories, and HAPPY ones, too :)

  • You must be outta your skull to say that shit, and who the hell is kimberly wyatt? who ever makes a remake of this won't compare to this EVER!

  • I think Kimberly Wyatt's (of the Pussycat Dolls) version is more "polished" if you know what I mean. The production was redone to sound more up-to-date. Don't dog me, but I usually like covered songs more than the original is this is one of those cases. This is still an excellent song to have been made in the 90's.

  • Same Here!!

  • Didn't I say don't dog me!? It's my opinion. And it's not like I said this song is bad!

  • Q RECUERDOS MAS CABRONES D CUANDO YO ERA UNA MIERDOCILLA D 16 AÑOS...y me acuerdo q cuando vi a esta vieja con esa Cadena en la nariz ,SINOOOOO....CADA LOCA CON SU LOKERA...Y SI, COMO DICE UN MAE AHI , SI ES EL CLON D LA CELINE DION JEJEJE....PERO HAY Q DEJARSE D VARAS, ESTE CHIRIPAZO FUE UN PIEZON!!

  • She is Celine Dion's evil twin. Like Spock's evil alter ego with the goatee from Mirror, Mirror.

  • LMFAOOOOOOOOO I AGREE

  • Her song had a sudden change of heart when she got married in 2002.

  • i hate how every female artist that has come out since like 1984 has had to deal with the "madonna copycat" thing...there is nothing about this song or the artist that makes me think of madonna in the slightest...

  • unlike Madonna she can sing and she can play an instrument and able to write her own songs

  • Exactly!! she seems more r&b oriented than pop w/this song.

  • damn I love this song...now to go find 4 non blondes

  • Copy of Madonna????? Are you frickin' nuts?? Not even close!! Jane has her own style totally. And to make it even better she is Canadian! Sorry you've completely missed the boat on your comment!

  • Good comeback! It makes her more exceptional the fact that she is CANADIAN!

  • ooooh my goodness!!! I rememeber this song! woo-hooo!! yay I love it =D

  • Brilliant. Thanks for sharing!

  • I´m glad you liked it

  • teddy riley produced this pretty good huh ?

  • Yes it is! but he produced the remixed version. This is all Jane baby!

  • i remember the best year in my life was living in nyc 1990 listen this very good song cool and party im from monterrey mexico saludos

  • why has this song been in my head all week and i havn't heard n 4ever

  • me too! very good song saludos de mexico

  • THIS MY SHIT

  • Man, I bought the cassette single (what the hell are those???) for this when I was in grade 8...I can't believe this song is that old! Man, this song could, at this moment, shame any of the crap that's out there right now.

  • STILL A GREAT SONG!

  • ahead of her time! 5*****

  • GREAT SONG

  • SORRRY i was wrong, she did not kill herself. Must of been thinking about someone else. But still love this song,i agree MTV is not worth shit anymore, same way with VH1, they went away from what made them, now just crapon there.

  • I still remember when this came out. Bloody fawkin' genius.

  • this song is absolutely fucking brilliant. Amazing groove, and I would never have come across it, except for I recorded it onto a tape from the radio years ago, and played the tape recently, only to be blown away by it. I couldn't get the title so I googled the lyrics and thanks to youtube I can watch it here

  • Jane Child is not dead she just recorded a new album.
