How can people confuse Matt and Thom? Sure, they may sound vaguely similar if you've never heard them before, but their voices are plenty distinct. Radiohead and Muse also are very different- sure, Muse's debut album sounded sorta like Radiohead, but they developed their own, distinct sound very quickly.
Why can't you people stop arguing who sings this, obviously it's stated many many times by other people who sings this and that muse hasn't covered it. Whether Radiohead or Muse is down to personal opinion. I think they're both great, but I'm more into Radiohead right now. I also think they sound completely different. I have noticed, however, that Radiohead fans seem to know what their talking about, and are always very nice about making their point, whereas Muse fans seem to know very little and spam pages with "MUSE IS BETTER THAN RADIOHEAD" not even giving a good reason. I too love both bands, and also I am into Radiohead more at the moment. The reason i agree with you is that i have noticed this too, but I think it's become a lot more evident since Muse went a LOT more commercial in the past few years, making them widen their fan base a lot. Radiohead for me is all about how intelligent the music is, and can be discussed more than a lot of Muse songs can. I don't think I've come across a RH fan yet who can't put a decent point across with reason

Whether Radiohead or Muse is down to personal opinion. I think they're both great, but I'm more into Radiohead right now. I also think they sound completely different. I have noticed, however, that Radiohead fans seem to know what their talking about, and are always very nice about making their point, whereas Muse fans seem to know very little and spam pages with "MUSE IS BETTER THAN RADIOHEAD" not even giving a good reason. I'm not saying this applies to everyone. I'm sorry for writing an essay

@FergusBchedda While Radiohead's fanbase is generally intelligent, while Muse fans may spam Radiohead videos that "MUSE IS BETTER" realize that almost whenever Muse is mentioned RH fans go out and pretty much call Muse terrible, a blatant rip-off, and stuff like that. This whole dispute pretty much brings the worst out of both fanbases

This dispute about who is better really should end, that is something we can both agree on. But you are contradicting yourself when you say that only Radiohead's fanbase is intelligent, to later say that the dispute should end. Because that is just adding to the argument of who is better, Muse or Radiohead.

I too love both bands, and also I am into Radiohead more at the moment. The reason i agree with you is that i have noticed this too, but I think it's become a lot more evident since Muse went a LOT more commercial in the past few years, making them widen their fan base a lot. Radiohead for me is all about how intelligent the music is, and can be discussed more than a lot of Muse songs can. I don't think I've come across a RH fan yet who can't put a decent point across with reason

Sure, TWO songs they have ever made have a total of about 30 seconds that sound like Queen, and Showbiz slightly resembles Radiohead. Yet they have 4 other albums all with their own unique sound. Look up Map of the Problematique or Bliss, and say they sound like either Radiohead or Queen. Get your shit straight.

By the way, even though they didn't bring out anything so-called "new", they're the first band I've ever heard that blew my mind with nothing but their sound. That's what I think makes Muse original.

I have to say they made the first orchestral symphony/space rock song I've ever heard (Exogenesis Part 1). But from what I can tell from your case, it looks like every artist isn't original then. Since lots of artists don't make a completely different/new sound in the world of billions of songs.

For ecample i could probably knock up a NIrvana song in a day, but it wouldnt be nearly as good... because its not how i would express myself. Thats how i feel about muse, it doesnt seem like its coming out of the individuals. Just a pile of old stuff mashed together

@corpsemunger Well I'm enthusiastically telling you that Matthew writes all of Muse's songs straight from his feelings. He expresses himself through the art of music, as every good artist should. Songs like Hyper Music or Uno or Space Dementia all come from his feelings toward another person, most of Black Holes and Revelations expresses his feelings toward the government and how they're slowly destroying the world. The music depends on how he feels when he writes the songs.

This Radiohead/Muse thing is a little ridiculous. Radiohead aren't even Muse's biggest influence. Not to mention, Muse should have lost all the Radiohead nonsense since OoS was released. Don't get me wrong I like both bands, just for different reasons.
Also, there are other bands with a Radiohead/Muse vibe. Check out Ours or People In Planes for instance...
