I am almost glad that she is not a superstar. It's like our little secret to be able to listen and be inspired by her voice and great sense of melody.
Yeah, but to be so insanely talented, and to have worked in music for over 20 years, and to have released 11 amazing albums, to not at least be well-known and highly respected among other musicians and people who know music? To have to work a day job because you can't live on your music? How unfair and cruel is that?
Yes. Talent doesn't seem to be a prerequisite for success measured in that way, especially in the US. I enjoy listening to Sharon Isbin a born guitarist and even musicians that I know don't know who she is. Me I play the stereo! But I, like you, know what good music is. I'll have to purchase her cd in cd form!
yes it is quite nice isnt it. i have no idea how i came across her...but judging from the amount of hits her videos get it was one in a million that id find her beautiful music!
I'm SO happy to have found Happy on YouTube. I knew her way back before most people ever heard of her. She sang "First to Cry" one night in Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY. It was 1984. I wrote the response to that song, called "I'll Cry For You", and sang it to her one afternoon when we were talking in the empty caffe. We spent a few times together (platonically!) that summer, and I'll never forget it. She hypnotized me then, and hypnotizes me now. Nice to see you again, Happy. :-)
She knows a sweet melody.
