I am looking at the Hero and right now it is my favorite choice (other choices are the Intercept and the palm Pixi). my only problem with this is, i have never texted on a touchscreen before. @smashbrosbrawler93 the palm is way to small , you won't like it for texting .. the intercept is new, but has a plastic, light feel, but its good for texting .. but the HTC HERO 2.1 is best of the the 3 phones you are asking .. HANDS DOWN .. good texting, nice feel, nice colorful screens (has 7 screens .. the intercept has 3 screens.. l.o.l.) GET THE HERO .. i recommend it

i live in canada (the french part) and to have a qwerty keyboard i need to switch the hole phone to english (wich i hate) cause when i try to type i got an azerty keyboard and i hate it -_-' but the phone still is awesome ( i got the one with the chin =D)

The Hero was a horrible choice for me, i couldnt complete a decent txt message at a decent time frame. Also the battery power was as week is an over weight midget. The plam pre was an even worse choice. I really and im resting all my hopes on the HTC Evo for the summer, and if that lets me down the iphone is still a top choice, but not over the Evo for now

@sounit about the text messages, it depends on the person. At first i couldn't type efficiently at all, but i got used to it. It's not as bad as you say for me. The HTC EVO is awesome to say the least. :]

I bought sprints hero the 1st of April and I am about to take it back for a 3rd hero. The outside speaker keeps blowing up on me so that I can not us the speaker phone nor hear it ring. I love what the phone can do, but if I can't hear a ring or use the speaker phone it is not much good. I will take it back on Monday again for a third hero and hopefully this one won't blow up on me. I think I will buy the insurance on this 3rd one incase it blows up again after my 30 day free look.

@atariatarifreak ive had the Hero for several months now and i text alot too... like Maybe a thousand aday or more and the touchscreen is as responsive as ever. So responsive that sometimes when you dont think you touch the screens sensitive so you do actually touch it. I guess thats cuz of the heat sensitive touch screen. But the screen doesnt wear as far as i know of. But wipping the screen after you talk on it is good unless you hold it away from your face.

Good Question, this phone rocks and it very responsive with touch flow and texting in landscape mode it awsome but a little bit nerve reckoning when texting in portriat mode but it better than the palm pre because it's more responsive with the apps. I haven't had any laggs at all and no pauses very smooth animation, I highly recommend this phone over the palm pre. ALthough the palm pre is good but I didn't like it at all.

I was thinking of getting an HTC Touch Pro 2, but I haven't been able to find them in Sprint Stores around my area. I looked at this phone and the Pre today, and It was rather hard to choose between the two. Both phones had things that I liked and didn't like -- or things that I wish each device had.

The near-deal-breaker for me with the Pre is the lack of an SD card slot. The lack of a camera flash on the Hero is pretty disappointing, on the other hand.

Yes, the Hero has flash support that only works with some sites. It doesn't work with Hulu, but it does work with YouTube.

I got the Hero today.. still was trying to decide between this and the pre because I still wanted a physical keyboard.. but getting to actually feel this one made the difference.. I think the pre is still a cool phone.. but the build quality seems a lot better on the Hero plus the Android apps made me decide that maybe having a physical keyboard isn't everything... still getting used to touch.. but it seems very responsive when typing.

The Magic/Mytouch 3g doesn't have the capacitive touch enabled (which is correct), but I am running a Hero ROM and have it enabled :) I even have a video of it on here. A 'beat' slower? That must come from all the mutitasking it does.. iClones can't compete with that. The smaller screen is for one handed use. Of course HTC knows how to make good phones... they were doing it BEFORE the crapple iClone. Overall informative video.. thanks!

IMO I think the Pre's keyboard is ridiculous! And I don't understand why people would choose that over a soft-keyboard, especially the iPhones.
