  • i think its funny we still got that in the p.a.w

  • OMFG why don't those kids have eye or hand protection!!!

  • HEY TEACHER MAN THOSE LIGHT RAYS ILL BURN OUT YOUR STUDENTS EYES! YOU NEED WELDERS GLASS'S!!!! OMG LOL that shits at least 5 times brighter then the sun. If i was a students parent I would be kinda upset your ruining my students eyes, also in africa they also make free electricity buy hooking up a ORC generator up to the parabolas look it up sirnice job!

  • why not convert the focal point into heat as steam, water or hot air into a controlled cooker? Should yield more consistent and even cooking conditions.

  • YES Mr. Westfalls Calculus class was epic!

  • here is the way you can use what you made. send the sun light into a cone shape focal point into mirrored tubing and send that sun light down into a mirrored box where solar panels would be spinning to keep the solar panels cool or put in a cooling system but i think that will be a problem control the sun and make it work for you dish has to have robot arm to follow the suns path

  • add a lens at the focal point , get some magnification going

  • add a lens at the focal point

  • It wouldn't surprise me if the school suspended the student for bringing a weapon to school. Public schools are so horrible.

  • how about instead of a parabola instead use mans gifts since a million years ago to use our inate ability to make fire regardless of metallic elements...... 2 sticks 1 fire ftw!

  • I like how the host stuttered when asked why this was done.

IT'S A FREAKING DEATH RAY! That is why it was done.

  • itd be sooo hilarious if some1 swiped some popcorn bags and started making popcorn grenades with this

    READY, BURN, LAUNCH!!!!

  • That's hott!

  • The greenies crack me up...cookign food with radiation from a thermonuclear reaction is green and neeto but passing food through a lesser energy to kill food poisoning bacteria and parasites with no scientific harmful effects to the food is unethical...

I hate the side effects of stupid people...Bless these kids for getting all smarted up.

  • @lostbuffalo The thermonuclear reactions is very far away. We are only getting the side effects of the reaction, ie heat and light. It's been shining more then the 3,000 years you probably think. The ionizing radiation you are talking about is put very close to the food and people have concerns with it. They have their opinion, you have yours. Let science rule.

  • @jfnelson77 Sure, I thought it was a good logical contradiction. Nothing wrong with solar cooking. rad? It would be better to have fresh microbe free food but to keep something from spoiling it needs to be cured or pasteurized and I don't see anything wrong with cooking with radiation as long as there are no residual particle emission to damage your cells. I'm sure the acidic and base digestive juices would balance any irregular molecular charge. I'm saying should ufo chasers decide for you?

  • @jfnelson77 but actually I was really just saying how cool it is when people want to learn about how things probably are by science rather than intuition or worse yet unfounded superstition.

greenies are just someone I arbitrarily picked on as an example of unqualified activists.

I don't like some activists. They have had a negative effect on many good and just aspects of my life changing things for the worse, corrupting them. I prefer to call them the disruptively Idle, spoilers. I apologize.

  • that coach looks like a wimp.

  • 45 years ago I bought a cig lighter that you stick a smoke in the arm and the sun beam would light the cig, used it alot this isn't new, it was about a 4 inch alum disk

  • @Ryboy1381 YOU are stupid Ryboy try learning how to spell "neighbors" DUH

  • "They use algebra to create equations"

    what a sentence

  • thats my schoool!

  • great energy saver, this wouldn't work so effective pointed at a solar panel would it?

  • No. It would break. And it would be pointless since solar panels can only convert a small portion of normal exposure. It can be used to generate electricity in other ways though.

  • will you be my math teacher?

  • ok so at the start of the film where the kids are burning a giant roll of paper that EXACT spot is where the ladder is that would have to be an exact reflectant to A. reflect all the suns power to one exact spot or B there will be solar run off all and all it was a joke but apparrently you dont understand what that means sorry to have made you upset calm down and have a better day lol

  • I hear having BBQ's increases your chances of cancer. Maybe doing it this way will decrease it? But, who cares, I like the BBQ.

  • So the 700+ deg of the focal point huh ? and the ladder is fire proof ?

  • no you dumb ass the focal point is not directed towards the ladder.

  • so when the camera man pans left you dont see that the ladder is lined up with its focal point ?.....dumb ass ? how old are you 2?

  • if you pulled your head out of you ass and listened to what he was saying you would understand how stupid your question is. listen from 2:00 to about 2:20. it works alot like a magnifying glass too close or far from the object and it wont burn. the how old am i question is irrelevent seing as how im far more intelegent than yourself. and dont bother complaining that i spelled any thing wrong because i dont give a shit. try as you may to insult me i will always get the last word good night bitch

  • Comment removed

  • wow insults huh i may be ignorant but surely not stupid let me know when you are ever near san bernardino valley collage theater in southern california so i can show you what i am talking about with a real parabolic reflectant and you then can tell me what you think

  • i know exactly what your talking about i have seen the video several times and listened to what he was saying. your just like all californians dumber than a box of rocks

  • how are we dumb as a box of rocks ? what makes you smarter ?the fact that you are clutching onto your opinion that a high school quality reflectant will have a perfect focal point to where nothing else will get hot but the hot dogs makes you some how smarter that all of california ? wow man good luck with your music carrer oh wait thats california based to.....(Hollywood) you need to get your story straight man have a good one

  • @rivtoolfan your all so high in the night with all that suspect medical marijuana being passed out. you have ellected officials such as the queen of retardation barbara boxer. aswell as former drug addicts like arnold. not to mention the corruption in your police force. all of this is just as relevent to this conversation as the music career. never have i said i want anything to do with music. by the way not every aspect of media runs through hollywood. but you cant grasp that.

  • ok so us cali 1 part of 15 states (as in over 20% of usa)that sells weed "whoopie" we are controled by the same bullshit buy out/in government as most other americans this also following the police and media you left that one out its all one big umbrella and the music was just an observation that has a few holes in it agreed so where are you from exactly that makes you so high and mighty?

  • @rivtoolfan im from all over everywhere no im just fucking around i was just trying to rile some people up. any way good luck with everything and have a good day

  • lol well you were sucessfull and it seems to be the trend on this site, i just dont get why

  • i know for me its just a need for argument. like playing devils advocate. as for the rest i cant answer for them. but i can speculate. it seems that they want to affect someone in some way whether that be by irritation or not. and some just have some stupid oppinions. like obama being a good president.

  • now THAT BBQ with Math

  • hmmmmmmmmm, solar hot dog!

    =)

  • wth ketchup!

sacrilege. only onions, peppers, masturd, celery salt, and relish.

    (hahah only)

  • yes :3

  • wow really? grow up its food

  • It's not like animals don't eat other animals...

  • come to think of it: there isn't much meat in hot dog wieners...

  • Then you haven't seen my wiener.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm going to show this to my Algebra students tomorrow!

  • mmmm hot dogs

  • Wow, that was cool. At least we're thinking new green ways to cook our foods.

  • omg was that Mr. Wolfe at the end? =] I was kind of sad our class didn't get to do this project

  • I want a hot dog...I guess I better start on my parabolic mirror then.

  • Yeah, we got the mirrors at cost which made it nice. What's the price on mylar? The mirrors are pretty durable...glued on with hot glue, but students can be rough on them and some will pop off every once in a while. I'd love to hear how the mylar turns out. Keep me updated.

  • @pingpong1525 I know u r a mathematics student but are these rays safe to use for cooking purpose.

  • @checkold Why wouldn't it be, it's only heat. It's safer than fumes that come from burning fire. :)

  • thats cool ... where did you get the mirrors and how much were they? also you might want to wear eye protection

  • yeah man thats cool, the sun really does give us life lol

  • Thanks...we got them at a local hardware store and cut them into 1" square pieces. The store gave us a great deal, $15 for 30" by 36" sheets.

  • 14,000 squares thats about 13 sheets.... $195 .... not bad. I'm covering one with mylar, but i don't know how durable its gonna be. mirrors looks like the way to go. how is it holding up?
