Give this guy a break now man. Atleast hes trying to attempt it. You learn through trial and error. You dont just magically know how to crawl up something. lol
I have a 2001 TRD 4wd and it went up the stair case in like 20 seconds with mud caked on the tires. I was just wondering cause I cant see the TRD sticker.
lol, im not giving them shit. I's just saying that it's better to have an auto for rock climbing because of how often the clutched go out in the Tacoma. I know a few people and one lives down the road. On his 3rd clutch and only has 7k. Tranny sucks in my truck also as well as the GAY clutch differential that they put in these trucks. has LSD, but a shitty clutch differential.
My clutch has done quite well considering how often I go climbing. This video is of the first time I tried "crawling" and I burned the clutch twice that time. However, manual trannys are perfect for crawling after you get used to it because you can use only the clutch with no gas on 4L 1st gear to help you from rolling. My friend wheels in his Auto tacoma and he kills his torque converter haha
haha that must of sucked. I have the same exact truck like you except its a four door auto tranny and i have a long travel kit on it. it looks amazing. and with the hood scoop, it makes it look even more better
The first time I went up steps (which is in this video) I burned my clutch twice, and it smelled horrible. But after doing it a few times you get familiar with the gas and clutch in these situations and it gets better. One general rule I have when crawling is when you are in 4L, never give gas when your clutch is pressed in because you have so much torque in those gear ratios that you can really do some damage to your clutch
that wasn't "crawling". that was "gasing it and hoping i make it". lol. crawling is 4 low with granny low letting your foot off the clutch and going as slow as possible. with granny you dont even need the gas pedal you just "crawl up" but you got one thing right, you dont give it too much gas, you can do alot of damage by going up too fast. slow and steady wins the race of crawling.
wow so you should not climb or anything off road with a clutch

What are you trying to prove? How NOT to use your brain? Why would you NOT have used 4lo?
You confuse me. I am still scratching my head why you slipped the shit out of your clutch rather than just dropped the xfer case into 4lo.
Weird driving. I guess everyone does things a little different. You are an extreme case of different.

2003gtmustang 2 years ago
not really, its mostly for bikes n atvs, the only place for trucks was this tiny little enclosed area, but the obstacle course was ok

driving up steps like that isnt hard but it can be intimidating. all you have to do is keep moving. once you start to move dont let the truck stop.
