Every time I hear this song, I can't help but think of all our brother's and sister's in war right now. To a non Floyd fan this is a really pretty song that is not to the norm of the "rock and roll" sound. But to fans the sharp chime in @ :40 just show's how divine this whole album really is. I for one believe that sounds like the one mentioned above make this album what it truly is. MASTERPIECE!

You are correct. She wrote it during World War II as a fair well song. So this song is directly related to his fathers death in WWII.
