Well put together video. 1990 made up for the 1989 year when they lost the Quadrangular tournement and lost to New Plymouth BHS. The 1989 side was far better and should have probably even won the "Top Four". Arrogance and over coinfidence probably cost them in 1989.
Thanks. There are two music tracks used here. The first is from the movie '300' soundtrack. It is a track by Tyler Bates called 'Returns A King' - the second is the main theme music from the film 'Requiem For A Dream'.
Nice video there buddy. Isn't that last song "England's Green and Pleasant Land?" Seems to show up in sports movies quite a bit. It was in "Chariots of Fire."
Shucks those days were better than my days, we didnt win anything between 1993 - 1997 (besides Wanganui Secondary Schools and even that wasn't a given), i mean we even lost to such powerhouse rugby schools as Taihape College and Rangitikei College, though we did make up for it by beating City College 2nd XV and our own 2nd XV lol.
Isn't there just a touch of hyperbole here? After all, in the ancient history of the 1970s WCS won the Tournament six times, and twice in the '80s! In 1968 Collegiate won for the first time since 1939! But in any case, the Quadrangular tournament is not exactly the apotheosis even of NZ school rugby - I would have thought any tournament without, for example, Te Aute and Hato Paora in the old days, or Gisborne, Auckland Grammar, NP or PN Boys Highs, to name just a few, is credibility challenged?

So this tournement is similar to what Wellington College achieved in 1989 when they beat Collegiate in the final.
Worth noting that Collegiate won the following year (1991)despite having an even more ordinary team.
1991 is the last year Collegiate won this tournement. :-(

A video of WCS Rowing at the Maadi Cup would be nice. Do you think it's possible to make one, or is there already one available to be viewed?

Ah - but you missed ancient history, the year that was a 'moral victory to Westlake' (despite WCS winning by nearly two lengths)

"Jerusalem" is the name of the song not:
" "England's Green and Pleasant Land".
Was it put in at the end because it was the Headmasters favourite song in chapel?????
The headmaster was Ian McKinnon (aka "Ronnie" - as he looked like Ronnie Corbett from the comedy show the "two Ronnies")
Anything but a funny headmaster.
He has had a massive influence on my life and I rate him probably the best teacher i have met. I respect him still enormously....
