Yes, you people nailed it. Paul PROVED that the Beatles could write ANYTHING when he penned this song. ANY style of music; it didn't matter. And yes, I do believe this song was the true blueprint for hard rock, and heavy metal. The Who be damned.

Lennon couldn't stand this song.

@haroof Not totally true. He just said it was Pauls song and the Charles Manson stuff is therefore nothing to do with him.

The White Album was his favourite album.

@GergelAni I think he was more referencing the fact it was just a song (Any song is a noise) because he said that quote in context with the whole Charles Manson thing to do with the song. John did a lot of the instruments on the track, I doubt he HATED it.

John couldn't scream like this. Not with with a low, high and raw tone at the same time. No one can scream like Paul. Listen to Monkberry moon delight, Oh darlin' or Oh woman (oh why). Like Helter Skelter, they are impossible to sing. Only Paul is able to do that...

Someone went through a lot of trouble to make an video of something that never happened. Too many loops and close-up shots of Paul's lips out of sync with the words.

Then there is the ending with John Lennon shouting out "I got Blisters on my fingers" using Ringo's voice. The funny part is that who ever created this, put a lot of emphasis on that last line.............Only to use the footage of the wrong Beatle shouting out that famous line.

At the end, the part with the "blisters," Lennon is shown at the mic, but wasn't Ringo the one who said it? And yes, I know, the video segment is from the "Let It Be" film, but as a bit of trivia, I'm pretty sure that last vocal line was Ringo Starr.

you are correct radstainforth and it was a song that Paul McCartney wrote because he saw an article about a band being really heavy and this song was originally going to be a blues song if you look on here but developed to be hard rock to heavy metal by that standards. I love this version and glad it wasnt just a blues song. :)

@radstainfourth, you seem to be giving out misinformation. The occurrence of the "helter skelter" graffiti by Manson's followers was actually brought on by what Manson thought the Beatles were telling him in this song. He thought that the Beatles were speaking about the "race war" that in Manson's mind was to take place in the near future. Please research before you try to tell other people the meaning if good music
