  • This was so much better than Gina Gogean's bronze medal routine from EFs!

  • I got to meet her when i was 10, i was a gymnast, her uncle came to my house and brought me a signed pic of her....i felt like the luckiest little girl in the world!!

  • you have to admit, this was awesome!!

  • @dionnewarwick score please?

  • @dalmationham 9.725

  • @Ineedthat06 not bad should have been at least a 9.75

  • OERFECT

  • I ♥ Amanda Borden!

  • OMG I love her for not piking down that layout. Gorgeous.

  • NAILED IT!!!! She was their calm leader! Love her!

  • @WHATTHEBUCKSHOW omg its the real what the buck!

didnt know you were interested in this sport

  • I hate when these one-event-clips don't show the score..

  • Mary Lee's reaction to Amanda's dismount is priceless. :)

  • @7MadisonAnn I didn't notice MLR.... I'd like to see it myself.

  • OMG that is such an awesome routine! Amanda's awesome!

  • Jaycie was the most inconsistent on the team. How she placed so high in nationals was a mystery to me. And at Atlanta she was very inconsistent on beam. Putting her first maybe would have been a smart idea, but I also think that her 9.6 in optionals was because Amanda's score was so high (9.725) for th first routine. Jaycie made a ton of mistakes and omitted a pass in that routine and really only deserved a 9.5. Amanda deserved a 9.8 and should have been up third in the lineup.

  • @metsdudenj I agree, Jaycie made balance checks everywhere.. so Jaycie was overscored and Amanda was underscored. Amanda should have got no lower, yet nor higher than a 9.8

  • LOVE Mary Lee's arms in the air

  • she was good ... but you couldn't depend on her -- hate to say it:(

  • @jayson1039 what do you mean you couldnt depend on her she was one of the most solid competitors for the usa and was my favorite team member of the magnificent 7

  • @jayson1039 At least she wasn't a Vanessa Atler though. lol.

  • @Mikizzle15 LMAO!!! Exactly xx

  • @jayson1039 Give us an example of why she wasn't dependable.

  • @tide32athlete everytime I watched her, I CRINGED. She delivered every once in a while....like this particular routine. You could depend on Dawes, Miller or even young Moceanu to pull us through...even when they messed up you knew they would deliver next time. Borden was a wild card and unfortunately my memories of her that year weren't the best. Just my own personal opinion.

  • @jayson1039 Fair enough. That's your opinion.

  • dang that dismount was scary..

  • Um what was elfi talking about exciting skills? Amanda had a flip flop flip flop two foot layout combination and a front tuck mount! I'd say that's pretty exciting compared to a flip flop layout layout.

  • @481095ymg2 You literally took the words out of my mouth. I watched this just now and was like "did Elfie lose her mind?" She nailed that front tuck mount and two-foot layout!

  • @indorican648 yeah, elfie is a little....different : )

  • wonderful gymnast but crap all stars cheerleading worlds espn commentator.

  • That was a really good routine! REALLY GOOD!

  • Cool Vid. can u comment mine? ppllzzz

  • i go to her gymnastics she owns gold medal gym

  • I remember being glued to my television set for that Olympics.

I didn't miss a single moment of the gymnastics coverage.

  • Amanda was at her best when it counted the most - a true leader. No balance checks here, the crowning achievement of her career.

  • You gotta love Amanda.

  • I know her in real life i competed against her team at Arizona state!

  • best routine of her career

  • I was so happy for her. Just like they said, it was a Nadia-like performace. She was perfect! A great ending to her wonderful career!

  • ha ha! that's my gymnastics coach!!! No joke

  • Awesome routine.

  • fuckin awesome!!!

  • Best beam routine of the team and that day, I remember it...

  • It was second best.

  • Who was best then?

  • Miller by far

  • Miller was stellar, but she wasn't Borden; who had no balance checks at all...

  • Borden and Moceanu were 2 best that night!!!

  • Love you for this comment...

  • I mean I know that the first gymnast sets the tone.... but this routine had to go 9.8

  • 9.725, but it would have scored higher if she would have been further in the lineup, I think Jaycie should have gone first.

  • @twilliger123 I wouldn't have put Phelps up first bc she fell in compulsories. She seemed a bit nervous on beam. If she were to lead off and fall in optionals it could have set the tone in a total opposite direction. Amanda starting off so strong contributed a lot to the Americans having a strong beam rotation.

  • was that a layout at the end of the pass? 0:18 ?

  • I don't think she was underrated in the gymnastics world, but I think the media focused less on her because she was a solid gymnast, but not the youngest or the most decorated or the other things that make good fluff pieces. She was captain of this team. I don't think she was underrated by coaches or other athletes, just the media. Jaycie Phelps, too.

    I've always loved her : )

  • @lifeinanutshell Not here in Chile! Actually, her name is the only one I remember from Atlanta 1996

  • @DerAnstifter lol thats awesome.

  • Love the pass 0:18 - 0:23.

    :)

  • i love how she keeps moving right out of it. so confident!

  • i know, really!

  • She was always in the shadow and was so amazing

  • i feel like she was a very underrated gymnast
