The car might have been violating the warning lights, but that wasn't even close. heck, the car was almost across when the train was still far away. The worst thing they could have done was stop on the tracks.....and then backing up? What if they had stalled? By the time the nose of the car was already out on the tracks, they should have kept their forward momentum and kept going on across.
After watching soo many videos on youtube of near-misses and actual collisions involving trains vs cars, trucks, people and animals, I have come to the unalterable conclusion that being a train engineer is TOO NERVEWRACKING!! Nothing like seeing it from the engineer's point of view a few hundred times to make you appreciate what they have to go through everytime they approach an intersection. The horrible realization that there is NOTHING you can do except lay on the horn, the brakes and pray!!
@tannalv The guy is Dutch, and he's in Austria. I think It's safe to assume his first language isn't English. Contrary to what you believe, English isn't spoken by every single person on the planet.
Considering that this video is from Austria, chances are he didn't have an English class..
So..if you are going to criticize spelling, you might note that you put "titile" rather than "title" and it is "you" not "u".. also it is "misspelled" not "mis spelt"..so did you fail English in school? ;-)
That's pretty weird. Do they only blow the horn when they see a car approaching the railroad crossing, over there? In America, unless they are prohibited to blow the horn in "quiet zones( which I think is very stupid and very dangerous) engineers are required to blow the horn 1/4 mile away from each crossing.
this same track is on microsoft train simulator

What is the benefit of a narrow gauge railway? One would think that wider would always be better (more stable at speed and around corners)
salemcripple 2 years ago
@salemcripple the major benefit is that with narrow gauge you can have tighter curves which enable trains to get to areas standard gauges would not.
Thats only one aspect, read up on it, its a whole new world :-)

Whats the song name!? Anybody help?)
Oleg250 2 years ago
Interesting video!
That somewhat blind crossing may benefit from signals.
Why such narrow gauge?
Let'see more.
Thank you for posting this.
