  • LOTTO!!!!

  • Saw it on Disneyland program in the 50s.

  • @powertube5671 That's where we got the idea from.

  • The front row, second mousetrap: THE SOLE SURVIVOR OF THE APOCALYPSE!! BOOYAH!

  • mmmmmm s'mores :D

  • Those mousetraps actually impart alot of velocity, @ 0:35 a mousetrap damn near hits the top of the tank.

  • Try again, but stick the mousetraps down so that it's just the balls that fly around, not the traps.

  • I remember my teacher showed this video when she taught my class about molecules as a demonstration of colliding molecules.

  • next time throw a live rat or monkey in there...you know just for science purposes

  • I would like to see this done with golf balls, semi-breakable glass, and in 3D.

  • I watched this same experiment on Mr. Wizard's world when I was a kid back in the 80's.

  • Popcorn!?

  • @gungrave4ever we've certainly had our share of disasters. they seem to mostly happen at the worst possible time--like 5 minutes before a lecture!

  • @gungrave4ever no mishaps this time, although the first ball (at 0:15) landed in an unlucky place.

  • @NatSciDemos I did this with 6 mousetraps and pingpong balls when I was 9, in 4th grade at Montclair Elementary School, Denver, CO, back in 1960. It was not in a clear plastic enclosure, but it was still quite impressive. Learning to set the mousetraps was a total PITA, though, and made me cry the first few times my fingers got caught in the traps. Come to think of it, I think that was when I learned to curse, too!

  • Can you please do this again using eggs?

  • Most U-235 fissile reactions honk out two neutrons, not one. This reaction is largely triggered by other mousetraps. not ping-pong balls.

  • Meh...

  • next time, plz record in 3d.

  • You wa shock, great music for a great video, congratulations!

  • I just had this huge grin on my face the whole time I watched this.

  • Nice job! Science at its best! Reminds me of an old Disney film called 'Our Friend the Atom' where they made a similar experiment. /watch?v=ESpRFkXon7g around the 6min. mark. Thanks again for the spectacular demonstration.

  • Now do it with metal BB pellets. Yeah, see the reaction to that.

  • This is a great way to explain critical mass (or density) in a a fission reaction. You should start doing this with 10 mousetraps equally spread in this box, then 20, then 30, and see where the critical density for a chain reaction is.

  • My mind just told me that this would be awesome in a grand scale, like a stadium or something... completely covered in pinged mouseballs pongtraps.

  • BROWNIAN MOTION

  • didn't the original xbox do this first :p

  • Now do fusion.....

  • I love science :)

  • thats awesome!
