@SuperSurvivalHorror - No issues that I'm aware of - I've got a Core2Quad and a GTX560 and it runs fine with everything turned up full. Tips: Take your time and enjoy the view :)

@S0nicH Well said, i do wish i could play metro 2033, for some reason i get 30-40fps on my laptop but then at the start of the game when u meet the first enemies i get like 2fps lol so i do hope that doesnt happen in this game

Anyway it seems that Cryostasis is an interesting game! Tell me: have you played NecroVision ? It's not a great game but it's wayyy better than a lot of overrated shooters out there ! Also, what do you think of Bioshock? (because for me it is one of the overrated shooters i mentioned)

wow i was expecting a review like gamespot or something but they dont actually play the game all the way through instead you played and had fun with it and knew about it from a personal view instead of a professional view so you can relate to us much better than if you were doing it to be payed so we get the better picture. thanks :D

I've gotten to really like survival horror games with little or no weapons. It's so exciting and such an EASY way to get you scared when you have no means of protecting yourself. However, of course there is many more factors to be put into a game to make it scary. So this doesn't mean that a game with no weapons is going to be the scariest horror game. I like the atmosphere to this game but I find myself getting 50x more scared from Amnesia than this game. I might add: this game IS scary.

@18phenom - Thanks! Yes, it takes place on a ship, an icebreaker (guess what they do :) ). Shooters eh? Hm. Arma2 and Metro 2033 are worth having a look at (I've reviewed both if you want a look). You might also want to try Serious Sam HD. Technically remakes of older games (again, I've reviewed them) but awesome fun.

@bladerunner7522 - No, Metro 2033 was made by 4A Games (see my Metro 2033 review!). Cryostasis was developed by Action Forms. You're right though, there's a lot of good stuff coming from the Eastern Bloc.

I'd say not, your Gfx card is a little weak. You could probably run it at lower settings, although as with 2948guy you'll need a decent CPU speed as the game only uses a single CPU core (daft I know).

It should be fine, I did the review with a 9800GTX. As long as your CPU is fast enough then it'll run with no problem. There's a lot of gfx options too so you can tune it easily.

I like your review a lot as you don't pick out the minor issues with the game that people think is a big problem that prevents them from enjoying it.

You reveal both the positive and negative areas of the game but you kept it balanced which is very good.

I just got the game and i like the fact it isn't a mainstream one. Its hidden and quiet in the game shelves like the game.

It isn't the general knowledge of gamers for this game does suffer as this game match such ones as FEAR.

Just a not on prospective players: The hardware requirements are obscene. If you don't have a physx capable card (nvidia 8800+, preferably 9800 or 260) think very carefully about purchasing this game.

Oh, and ditto penumbra. Overture was the experiment for the developers. Black Plague was the finished product. BP is so far superior to Overture, it's not funny.

Yeah, well Black Plague makes one stark omission that makes every enemy as scary as the bosses in most games: YOU CANNOT DEFEND YOURSELF. The enemy is almost completely invincible and because of this no place is ever safe because you can never clear it out. When you see an enemy, you have three options: run, hide, or die.

Great review, really mixed opinions on this game. The hardware requirements are ridiculous, I played the demo on a single core, with a 8600 GT, and were talking 8 fps on the lowest possible settings. Now I have 2x 8800 GTX'x Quad core, etc ( you get the picture ), and the game is finally playable. Still not sure what to think of it though, every room so far looks the same to me, and Ive played doom 3, so cheap tactics will not make me jump so much these days! Great vid though, should do more PC

@derKampfschimmel I thought that it was scarier than Bioshock. Both games I have only played through a little bit. I like Cryosisis's setting which is kinda unique and adds a different feel to the game. Like I said I've only played through a little bit but I can say that it has some good scare tactics; made my nerves pretty aggrivated. Hell, I bought it for $3.50 on Direct2Drive. It might still be at that price if it is then it's worth giving it a shot. I will say it runs shitty on 1920 x 1080

It is awesome game for me althought the progress to the ending is a bit boring,

in the end everything adds up to the picture,

the captain's wish to save his ship and crew is the light; and the act of letting the captain down and not wanting to help him save the ship and crew by the Engineer and that other guy the dark that created trouble in the first place.
